I was using 'Provide for Google Calendar' some years now without any issue. But today suddenly it stopped to sync three calendars of one of my two Google accounts. I couldn't change, delete or create new events via Lightning any more. When checking the Google account in Lightning in the small dialog window where a Google account can be selected this add-on seemed not to be able to contact this particular Google account. My other account still works fine. Since the account which stopped working was using still the old nomenclature 'googlemail' I tried to go for 'gmail' for the same account. Surprisingly after having put in the same account but just by using gmail instaed of googlemail everything was fine and the three calendars of this account are working as before.

Have enjoyed using this in conjunction with google tasks sync but following latest update I cannot add tasks to my google calendar and am presented with a message asking me to select a calendar that supports tasks - which of course mine does. Frustrated user now, not sure how to get beyond this...............

Hello. I have been using this add-on for a while with success but as of a few days ago I haven been unable to send or receive events. Maybe it's similar to q149409mvrht. I live in a country where I need to use a VPN to access Google so thought it was that but I can log in to Gmail in my browser no problem (with VPN on.
The "sign in to your account" pop-up opens when I start Thunderbird (doesn't normally). If I log in to Gmail there it makes no difference. If I close that pop-up all my existing events in Lightning become invisible.
Hoping for a fix soon :-)

I used the workaround mentioned in:

I have been using this app for ages, I cannot imagine running by daily business without it.
Lately I experienced some problems with app, which drive me nuts. For example - I can subscribe a Google calendar, which someone shared with me (It is added to my Google account), but I can't see/subcribe my primary calendar. Or I can still subscrive someones Google calendar, even that that person canceled acces given to me.
Honestly, I would pay (reasonable price, of course) for a version without those bugs,

I really appreciate this add-on. It's essential to the way I run my business,
Following update to version Provider 3.3 / TB 52,* I can no longer communicate changes to the Google calendars, These events include dismiss an event, Change an event or add a new event . I downgrade to TB 45.8.0, Lightning 4.7.8 and Provider 3.1 and the problem was fixed.
Another challenge with Provider 3.3 is when setting up a new connection. I have two separate Google accounts, each with a number of calendars. During the connection dialog, the email addresses show up correctly, but the calendars shown can be for the wrong account. Regardless of the account chosen, the calendars are for the last account in the list.
For now, I've turned off automatic update.
I'd love to get to the bottom of this. Can you contact me via the support email?

Hello,
I use this app for a long time, with great success and without problems.
But this morning an authentication popped up for google calendar, no problem filled it out all good.
After some rerun I understand that I need cookies enabled to login with success - here starts my problems
while investigation of the reason for this, I recognized an exception for google.com is added to allow cookies!
and my big concern is, that it is not httpS://... it is http:// !!
I do not understand why all data that is so privat is ever send through http instead of https!
I would be really please if you could answer me this question.
summary:
why does it force http://google.com cookies enabled ?
-> believe it is needed for the authentication storage, okay
BUT why does it not use https://google.com ?
Greetings
a otherwise happy user of your application
Thanks for the report! This might actually be why the cookie exception is not at all working for anyone. The data is sent via https initially, then Google displays the login window which for their own sake I believe is also https. I'll investigate this and release an update that makes the right exception.

Great extension. I use it to synchronize 8 calendars on two different Google accounts. However I have experienced one issue recently. On one Google account, I have added a read-only calendar and used a Google function which is to add a default alarm to all these events. With that, all events on this read-only calendar have a 3-hour alarm.
Both on Google Calendar itself and on my phone (using Business Agenda on Android), I can dismiss those alarms without problems. However, on Thunderbird, I can't. Is there a solution?
Right now, I made a work-around: I imported twice the same calendar in Google and have set alarms on only one of these. I use the one with alarms on my phone and the one without on Thunderbird. Not the most elegant solution.
BTW, I have Thunderbird 53B1 with integrated Lightning on Windows and Provider... v. 3.3.
This is a limitation in Lightning, but there are bugs filed to fix it. I hope to get to it soon!

After an upgrade to TB52, the extension will pop up a login to google windows, with the email address as username. The "NEXT" button, however, is ignored, so I cannot enter the password.
I suppose it might be a bug with the popup itself: switching my gmail account to Oauth2 in the accounts management for the main program shows the same popup with the same problem. But ther is no way tell the Provider to use the stored password instead.
Edit:
Thanks for the feedback. For the record, this is happening on a Linux FC25 box.
A version to fix this is in the queue, Google made some changes to the login dialog that I needed to react to.

This worked great until TB 52. Then it started getting in a loop where you can neither dismiss or make any changes/updates to google calendar events. It makes the whole TB useless and had to be disabled.

Thunderbird 52.0
Provider 3.1
Lightining 5.4
When I try to add a calendar from the second account, they will always be shown only the calendars of the first account.
The problem occurs after upgrading to tb 52.
Please fix it ;)
Thanks!

In the process of adding a google calendar, after selecting “Google Calendar”, the continue button is not active, so I cannot. Any idea how to solve it?

does not sync either way to google. Shouldn't there be a google log-in somewhere so T-Bird/Lightning can talk to google? I'm on 45.8 and lightning 4.7.4. Been using these forever. Have spent an hour on this and worn out.

I use Thunderbird v52.0a1 (2016-10-27) with Lightning v5.4a1 and Provider 3.1 and I am pleased with the connectivity. However, I am not able to upgrade to later versions of Thunderbird and keep Provider working. I would appreciate an upgrade to Provider.

I can not log in Google account. Everything is done as described to Google (cache dumped all browsers, etc.). What to do?

Hi,
Using "Provider for Google Calendar" for many months, I find it very useful !!
But since an update of Thunderbird (45.7.1) this morning, Thunderbird can't be launched. I have to desactivate "Provider for Google Calendar" to allow the launching.
Do you intend to provide a fix for this ?
Many thanks for your answer !
Jerome

Hello,
I like the add-on, installation is straight forward, but I end up with two different behaviours. On one system everything works fine, starting THunderbird and everything is available (2 mail accounts including gmail, Google Calendar in Lightning.
on another system I have to go throught the gmail Authentification for the Calendar everytime I am loading Thunderbird. Both Installations were done on the same day. I did not find any difference in the configurations. Both systems are running:
Ubuntu 16.04 64bit
Thunderbird 45.5.1
Lightning 4.7.4
Provider for Google Calendar 3.1 (aktualisiert/installiert 18.01.17)
Authentification with every login is ok, but does not make a lot of sense if access to Gmail is provided whenever Thunderbird starts.
It would be great to get some advice to fix this.
Thanks!

Very useful app.
One nuisance for me is that the when copying from one calendar to a google calendar it automatically sends out an email to all the guest list. eg. If I am invited to event A. And I copy Event A to Google Calendar. I send out invites to everyone on the guest list.
