This add on is the best way to sync between Lightning/IceOwl and Google Calendar. Since it also sync with Google Tasks, it is really great.
Wish: Display different Task-Lists separated to have better focus on a List.

Works very well... Thanks

Hello, thanks for your reply. You mean contact Google support, right?
The reminder can be one or more days before, it doesn't matter. Even minutes or hours, or multiple reminders.
If I use CalDAV everything works fine (minus the email notifications, of course.

It's an indispensable extension if you use Google Calendar, but unfortunately it comes with a major annoyance: the same reminder keeps popping up again and again no matter how many times I dismiss it.

I had the same problem. It would ask me to authenticate everytime I would open thunderbird.
The solution: When creating a new google calendar don't forget to create a new session. After you select new calendar > on the network > google calendar it is requesting to select a session or create a new one. Just input your google e-mail. Solved ;)

(one has to turn off the EWS Provider then configure google calendar and turn it on again)

Not having had much experience linking Thunderbird + Lightning + Google Calendar I have to say that the Provider process streamlines the setup making it much simpler and more intuitive. I am happy to report that in the 30 minutes since I began using Provider I have not encountered any problems that could not be solved by RTFM!

I have two machines running TB 45.2.0 but the add-on only works on one of them. It works on Ubuntu 12.04 while it does not work on 16.04. I have cookies enabled ("always") and Javascript is enabled by default on both. So from that point of view they are configured identically but still they do behave differently, namely one can access Google calendars while the other one cannot.
If there is a way I can help at shooting the trouble with this test set-up, let me know here. Myself, I have not been able to find a clue about what is going wrong but maybe there is a way to find out?
PS: I have put down five stars because the add-on does provide highly important functionality when it is working (as it has up to about one or two months ago). So let's make it work again!
Please contact email support for more information and thank you for leaving a five star review!

As Responded by jonmyers, Enable cookies in Thunderbird and not the browser. Works just fine now. If Philipp the Developer added this note in the Add-ons description a lot of complaints would not be written.
(3.1).I'd much rather fix the cookie bug by properly making an exception or enabling cookies only for the login dialog. I'll see if I can get to this soon though. Thanks for the feedback!

My previous review (which seems to have vanished) indicated that Provider for Google Calendar was not working. I played around a but and found (I think) that reinstalling Exchange EWS Provider fixed it
(3.1).Sorry the previous review vanished. If it contained URLs it is auto-flagged for review by the addons.mozilla.org reviewers and there are some other cases.
This one seemed to stick though. Thanks for the note on the EWS provider. There is a bug in some versions of it that would cause the new calendar dialog to not work, all you need to do here is disable the EWS provider while adding new calendars.
I'm glad things are working now!

Hallo,
Chris

It works again, but you must enable cookies in Thunderbird, not your browser, as the stupid popup window tells you. Tools>Options>Privacy>Accept Cookies......

This is a great plugin. I have been using it for over 5 years. As of last week unable to authenticate to new calendars. I tried the cookie setting but not working. Something change with either Thunderbird or Goggle. Please advise on possible fix. Let me know if you need any additional info to help.

Necessary but it is a pain to have to log in every time I open my windows desktop computer.. especially as it takes three distinct steps and the accept button is not visible and the window not resizable. Tab key works most of the time but not always.. plus I get two emails on my phone and computer to tell me I have logged.. I know that.. and it has been a pain doing it! And I have enabled cookies but not improvement.
(3.1).Could you try unsubscribing from all Google Calendars and then setting them up again? Normally it should work without issues. Please note that re-subscribing may take a while with large calendars since a full sync needs to happen on the first refresh.

Great extension, but now only authenticates with Google correctly if you have cookies enabled.
Thunderbird/Google/Addon changed something, so now you need to change Options / Privacy / "Accept Cookies from sites" to ticked.
("Keep cookies until I close Thunderbird" will work).
Essential addon if you need to work with Google calendars.

Thunderbird changed some cookie settings and broke this plugin. It's less on the developer (who did a great job writing it) and more on the user to fix their settings like he suggested a few times. The other review is spot on, and my new version works after I add the cookie exception.
Anyone having problems with authentication (oauth) check your cookie settings and exceptions. Worked great for me (thanks again).

If you have authentication issues, enable cookies in the preferences. It worked for me.

I am having similar authentication issues as others. I'm repeatedly being asked to sign in to Provider, however, the process cannot be completed because the hyperlinks aren't working. The 'allow' and 'deny' buttons are greyed out and inaccessible. In the same window, the links to 'Provider for Google calendar' and 'Account Permissions' are not greyed out but clicking gets null results. Double clicking these links partly closes Thunderbird, i.e., the program is still open in task manager but the icon has disappeared and Thunderbird can't be accessed unless I close in task manager and re-launch.
I'm using Thunderbird 45.2.0 Win 8.1 and Avast Free Antivirus and I realize this behavior (inactive links) may not due to the add-on.
I have tried to authenticate after disabling the antivirus, but this doesn't help. I've checked and there are no Firewall issues, and other links such as email, work fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Lightning and Provider many times.
I have checked the config editor and there are duplicate registry keys listed for Google calendar. I don't know which ones I should remove, if any.
By this point I would be happy to settle for repeated login prompting if I could at least follow through with authentication and access my calendar. Perhaps other Thunderbird users have resolved their own hyperlink issues. Could you shed some light on any of this?
