Thunderbird 31.3.0 with Lightning 3.3.1 and this provider 1.0.3 definitely works!

Just delete the Google calendar in Lightning and create it new. It will sync as expected!

This update works finally...I edited some sharing settings in my GMail settings and re-installed the add-ons. Now it works, I can add, update and delete appointments in multiple agenda's. Maybe, a better tutorial should be written :-)

(see my two previous comments)

Now I think I know what happened.

The day I switched to version 1.0.x (some day in November '14), the add-on suddenly turned ALL PRESENT AND FUTURE EVENTS to status "Tentative", leaving PAST EVENTS untouched.

But once this has been carried out, new events could be created normally, with the correct "Confirmed" status.

The only cure was lengthy manual reset...

I hope it won't happen again!

Unfortunately, update v1.0.3 doesn't seem to work any better than its precedents on my system (Win7 + Thunderbird 31.3.0 + Lightning 3.3.1)!

Nonetheless, i've not given up hope yet...

Edit: As suggested is tried unsuscribing and re-suscribing, but to no avail (other than getting my calendar to work for one single day)!

Well after the extended problems with previous versions which were no fault of the developers i believe. This one has just synced and looks good. I hope it continues to work as it did previously as this is a very useful add on and i rely on it a lot.

KUDOS to the developer anyway for allowing us to use it, thanks.

After this add-on was updated from 0.31 to 1.0.2 it was not working reliably (loosing events, not synchronizing properly etc.) I reinstalled TB and Lightning using the newest versions, still no success. What helped was creating new google calendar and transfer the event from the old one to the new one. Connecting of this new calendar using 1.0.2 worked perfectly (I discarded old calendar). I am using two computers, it works identically for both. I hope it will last some time.

This version of Google Provider (1.0.2) was not working for me on any of my computers where I use Thunderbird. I use TB on Windows 7 and Xubuntu 14.04. This is what worked for me after trying to install, uninstall, reboot, etc. I started Thunderbird and then I logged in to Google Calendar using the browser and lo and behold all my events started showing on my calendar. I tested with the other computers and the events are also showing when I start TB. I also tested creating an event in Google Calendar Online and then synchronize TB calendars and it showed it right away. My second test was creating an event in TB using my subscribed Google Calendar and it also worked. It has been three days since I tested and it appears to be working fine. Please note that all my Browsers have cookies enabled. Thank you Phillip for this Add-On, I certainly depend a lot on it.

I've been using this for ages now.
Configuring after the upgrade wasn't simple.
Finally got the 1.0.2 version working and I'm very happy!

Check you running:
Thunderbird 31.3.0,
Lightning 3.3.1
& This Add-On

I also recommend StartupMaster 1.6 to stop annoying multiple password prompts.

Hi Philipp, thunderbird update I'm facing a problem with your plugin.

Basically, when a mitigation is send to me, and after I acept it the invitation is shown in my calendar correctly.

however, something like 30 minutes later, the same invitations is show in my thinderbird as pending.

In the buttom part of the thundebird I see again the invitation, and if I ckick then I can accept it or deny it ... any action I do in there creates an error in that particular calendar and it become read only.

Do you have any suggestion of what is wrong?

Best,

Ferran Orsola

Love this Add-on, but been having issues ever since 1.0.x
This use to work better in version 0.32
Now I can't discard past reminders. I needed to turn off the show past reminders option in the Calendar options. Secondly, Most of the time I can't accept meetings. I accept them or deny them, but it doesn't update my meetings. I keep getting a Discard Changes or Submit anyways Prompt. It seems it is related more to Event time changes rather then new event requests.
Any way to resolve this. I have tried re-installing a few times with no luck.

Hello,
I used this add-on for a long time and really appreciated it.
Recently, I encountered an issue related to cookies. When starting Thunderbird, Google log in is requested, then a pop up window tells (translated from French language) : small issue - seems that cookies have been deactivated within your browser. Either check whether they are activated or try to open a new page in your browser"
Whatever I did within Firefox did not change anything in TB. I could display my Google calendar within Firefox without any difficulty.
As suggested by sneppa, I tried to remove completely Lightning and Provider for Google calendar, then reset up latest releases, but it didn't improve.
Am I alone in this case ? Any suggestion on the way to fix it ?
Thanks in advance for any advise.

In the last weeks the Google Calendar was broken, but now its better than ever.

1. Remove your Google Calenders
2. Remove Addons: Google Calendar Provider, Lightning
3. Update Thunderbird to 31.2.0
4. Install Addons: Lightning 3.3.1, Google Calendar Provider 1.0.2
5. Add your Google Calendar
6. Everything is working fine

Thanks for this nice plugin!

Good morning, all events desappear, exept some of them one or two days ago. As google changed something recently, do you think we have to modify settings (url or else)?
Thank you very much

Im using TH 31.2.0 / Lightn. 3.3.1 and this in version 1.0.2.

Everything works except that i get asked for my password from gmail everytime. Im using 2 factor authorization, but shouldnt the addon store my token so i dont need to type password after every restart of thunderbird?

Best regards
Hero

Hallo,

1.0.2 works very well and seems a lot more slick than the earlier versions. However I have one issue, wondering if others have seen it: if you go offline, e.g. by powering up your computer without an active network connection, all calendars are disabled, and the only way to get them back is to restart Thunderbird (with an active connection).

Else 5 stars because this is the only way which really makes TB play with Google such that I can maintain a single calendar across all devices and accounts!

I used to love this add-on until we were forced to upgrade to 1.0.x - easily duplicate events, drag/drop to change dates on events, etc. but I just couldn't get my calendars set up correctly - the setup wizard wouldn't finish properly. On one of my installs, the Provider for Google Calendar completely failed and I could not get it to work no matter what I did. On another install (different computer) it worked just fine - it upgraded my 'old' calendars and it worked like a charm. I could add more calendars easily and it works as expected. To make the first install work, I decided to completely uninstall Thunderbird. It had been on that computer for a long time and was upgraded many times over the years. After I did a fresh install, I installed Provider for Google Calendar again, and it worked like a charm. Therefore, it is my conclusion that the issue was Thunderbird itself; with all those upgrades over the years, Thunderbird actually left a lot of crap behind that interfered with this add-on (the number of useless plug-ins was also a consideration). I know it's a pain in the neck but long-time Thunderbird users may actually want to consider doing a fresh install. You may need to back up your address book, all your local mail folders, etc. but if you know what you're doing and know where your stuff is stored, it will be well worth your time. I'm sure it will not only help you resolve any issues with this add-on but I'm sure others will benefit as well. It sure seems to run faster and smoother than it did before I did the fresh install. Good luck to all!

Dear all,
Since all these problems came up I had to install again the version 0.32, but, as has been already commented, definitely it does not work.
So, after upgrading to the last version, delete the calendars and adding all again, everything is apparently working fine. Note: it is important to choose the format GOOGLE CALENDAR (no ICS, CaIDAV or WCAP)

I am using Thunderbird 31.2.0, Lightning 3.3.1, Provider for Google Calendar 1.0.2 and gContactSync 1.1.1

Good luck
