A very good extension - when working. But alas 1.0.2 does not work as expected. The calendar entries are invisible :(.

Critique writen 2 days ago (21/11/2014) :
Very good until one month ago (new version 1.0.2).
With this version, I can see tasks and agendas, but I can't update anything, and I can't dismiss the reminders.
I get the error : Modification Failed.
I tried also removing password, removing agenda, recreating, regiving the password... unchecked read only... reset url in gmail...
But always same problem.
I 'm also using Google Agenda 1.0.2, Lightning 3.3.1, Thunderbird 31.2.0
I'm sure it will work fine soon, it is a very great module.
Thanks a lot

Today (23/11/2014) : great day !!! the problem is solved

Thanks to Paul D., I have removed all the extensions and calendar and password, reinstalled Thunderbird, lightning, and Google Calendar Provider, recreate the agenda (using also directly google calendar and not ics), and now it works !!!
I see the events, the reminder, i can create tasks, dismiss reminder, all is good now!!!
I also think the problem was with thinderbird itself
Hope it will help someone

Great add-on.

But with the new version 1.0.2 there is an issue with the display of the entries.
After the installation of the new version I could saw all the entries.
The next day the all disappeared from Thunderbird, but was still present in Google Agenda.
If I create a new entry in Google Agenda I can see it in Thunderbird after sync. And also if I update an existing one.
But the all disappear again the next day.

Hope this explanations can help you.

Great job you have done there !

Also tried fix offered by ohmjohn on November 20, 2014 (below), (deleted the agenda, password) and then re-creating it in thunderbird/lightning. Great solution !

Fantastic add-on.

One issue we're seeing at my organization that I haven't seen mentioned by any other commenter: So far, everyone's events are showing up just fine, but no one can dismiss any reminders.

I don't know if it's relevant, but my company uses Google Apps for Work.

I may have a solution for the problems described in 1.0.2. I had the same troubles. I found out that clearing the password manager in Thunderbird (for the google calender items; not for imap etc) did the trick.
After that reinstall your calender and it worked for me. (till now)

There seems to be an issue when using "Provider for Google Calendar 1.0.2" together with "Exchange 2007/2010 Calendar and Tasks Provider 3.1.3".

If both are running I can't add a new google calendar (the google calendar selection tool and the 2-factor authorization dialog does not show). I could only get it to work by disabling the Exchange Provider, Restarting Thunderbird, Logging into my Google Calendar (now it works fine), enabling Exchange Provider again, Restarting again and login back into my exchange calendar.

Hello Philipp,

I have the same issue as BONNEAU described. No events are shown, but tasks are.
My configuration is the same as BONNEAUs, too.

Thanks in advance

I just changed my review that I placed yesterday to a 5 star as Philipp is trying very hard to answer everyones's reviews. He is obviously aware of the remaining glitches and it is great to hear that he is working on sorting them out.

I would echo his request to not use the reveiws as a support channel. I was guilty of this yesterday and will now use the support section (link in tips above) for future requests. Thanks Philipp.

Incidentally, I upgraded to V1.02 yesterday and the calendar is working again. 0.32 definitley will not work at the moment because it uses the now defunct Google API V2.

I too was affected by Google disabling v1 of Provider::GData API for Calendar yesterday. Did you submit the Postbox version of your plugin as well, as per the link below?

http://www.postbox-inc.com/extensions

If you did, do you plan to update the Postbox version to use a newer version of the API? Please reply here if you have a minute. Thank you for your hard work on this calendar integration.

Updating to 1.0.2 first read the FAQ and everything will work perfect.

It seems Google fixed the bug in Calendar API that led many users to downgrade to 0.32.or 0.25. Like user LionHe (see today's earlier review), I downgraded to 0.25 to avoid this bug. The annoying behavior returned today. The solution I found to today's problem (like user LionHe), is to upgrade to version 1.0.2 and restart Thunderbird. Cheers, -Bruce

Hello Philipp,
I use your Add-on in old TB10.0.12 ESR version. So for me it is only possible to use your Add-on in version 0.13 or 0.18pre. Both are unable to connect to google calendar since today (known issue with disabled old API from google side). May it be possible to solve the problem also for old TB10 ESR?
Otherwise I have to stop calendar function in TB...
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately the Provider uses features of the Mozilla platform that are only available in Thunderbird 24 and up. Isn't there a chance that you can upgrade to at least Thunderbird 24? Its also an ESR version and contains various improvements to security and stability.

About a month ago I downgraded to keep this tool working. Today, when it stopped working, I upgraded to the latest version. On first restart, the calendars would not reconnect. But I closed Thunderbird completely, a second time.

When I relaunched and opened Lightening, the google login showed up for each of my google calendars. Reentering my password for each account, everything reconnected smoothly. No need to remove or reinstall any individual calendars. It appears to now be accessing the calendar through the googleapi - a more robust long term solution.

What I love about this add-in is that it lets me view and mange all four of my Google calendars together. Scheduling an event on any of them is a simple drop down selection. Attendees can be added from any of my contact lists - it reintegrates a complex business world very nicely.

Everyone who uses this app to keep their business affairs together should thank the developer with a contribution. Let's encourage him to keep up the great work!

Today 17 november Google dropped support for an old Google calendar API. I was using provider version 0.25 with lighting 2.6.6 with thunderbird 24.4.4 and all of my calendar did not work: a popup asking for a password was continuously appearing.
I deleted all calendars, removed old version, restarted thunderbird as requested, installed the current version, added again my google calendar. I was required a password and the verification code (as my account is protected by the two steps verification). Now everything works again.

I therefore suggest to people complaining about non working calendar to try following the same procedur I did.

About a month ago I downgrade to 0.32 to be able to continue using my Google calendars from Thunderbird. Now 0.32 stop working.

But I just upgrade to 1.0.2, delete non working calendars, add a new one, allow the extension to access my Google account and now it is working again.

I hope this will still working...

I also have the tasks synchronized :-)
