Confirmed: duplicate folder name issue exists with all versions of ImportExportTools even if it is the only add-on enabled.
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.8.0.1) del componente aggiuntivo. Please write to my email address (you will find it in my webpage) and give me more details: for example the name of the folder(s) that you can't import and the name of folders in the account.

Not an addon for use day in and out. But when needed e.g for import of deleted-hard retrieved emails it's really a gem
Thank you Paolo

I have two accounts, and many mails in a few folders. I can export mails in .eml format to one folder (defined in options). What I want is to make a backup of all messages of those two accounts in separate folders depending on what account and folder is backed up. Now it's impossible -- I have to click on every folder in thunderbird, select import/export, and change folder in options. Then I have to do the same for all my message folders.
You also gave awesome feature like auto-backup, can you develop it, so it could back up every single mail in .eml format? After exit, it could compare selected folders and add new mails to backup folder.
This addon is really great, but I need to store all my mails in separate files. I hope you will add what I'm asking for. Take care.

As someone who has worked on the Thunderbird e-mail client and now the Gaia e-mail client, the ability to import an .eml file someone sends me to reproduce bugs is invaluable. Thanks for the great and very useful add-on!

If you want to export email to html and have thousands of emails inside hundreds of folders, this is not going to help. No joy. When exporting emails to html with attachments, it will successfully export ONE flat folder. In other words exporting one folder of emails works well.
What fails is trying to export emails inside several folders. The tool starts to say something like 'exporting files' or whatever it says, then just hangs. Nothing happens. Even if there are only a dozen emails in a couple of folders. It hangs.
I noticed that others reported the same problem. My opinion is after trying different settings until late into the AM last night. No joy.
This is good, however, if you want to export several emails inside one folder.

No option exist to include the whole mail subject when exporting the index of a folder. Only the first 49 letters are included.
Edit: As Paolo wrote, this can be adjusted in the settings.
Thanks Paolo. This works just as I wanted it to. :)
You can find that option in ImportExportTools preferences panel (maximum subject length)

Won'r install. Firefox 18 says it's not compatable.
In fact, ... this is the second time I've tried to install TB to replace WLM and the second time I just ran into an insoluable mess.
Never again!
You must install it in Thunderbird, not in Firefox, please read this:

Hi,I wonder if you could help me please.I am using your latest version of ImportExportTools to do a daily backup of my whole profile of Thunderbird Portable running in Dropbox across several computers in different places. It is working very well thank you but I can only do the backup manually after Thunderbird is shut down? Is it possible somehow to have it do the backup automatically in the background while Thunderbird is running or even to do the backup automatically when I close Thunderbird?I have looked through the options but can see no way to do this, am I missing something obvious please?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks,Bob Green, UK.So can I presume from the deafening silence one month on that's it a "No you can't, or you do not intend to add the option even if it is possible?"An answer would be appreciated if possible otherwise what is the point of this page????Regards, Bob Green.
Thank you for the reply it is much appreciated, I did assume it would be rather unlikely to organise. They sound like good ideas if possible, at present I have it set to backup all profile files once a day [24hrs] when the programme exits which is far, far easier than trying to automate MozBackup to do it!
Thank you, Bob Green.
First of all, excuse me for the late reply.
It's impossible, at present, to do the backup in background, because the backup requires the copy of big files and it would block the main thread.
I can consider the idea to add a way to do a backup on demand and/or every time you close Thunderbird.
I will try to add this feature in next updates, but I'm not sure when it will be ready.

Eml-Export works cool, but "html with attachement" stops exporting when processing an email with an attachment, that is not really attached to the mail.
The mail lists the attachments, but you cannot open it.
a recursive "html with attachement" to process subfolders would be great.

I use Thunderbird 17.0 on Windows Vista.
When I press export, a window appears and I'm asked to select the destination folder. When I do so, the window closes and nothing happens.
You're not the first to write that, but I can't reproduce this bug, so it's impossible for me to fix it, without more details.
Please write to my email address (you can find it in my website) and tell me:
1) which version of TB you're using;
2) the exact export you're trying to do (the folder itself? the messages inside?)
3) the error you find in error console after the export will fail (if you find any).
Thanks for your collaboration.

I wonder why Thunderbird doesn't have this feature by default. I saw "import" under "tools" menu, but don't expect that it only be able to import address-books.
But using this addon we can also import/export mails/folders as mbox, eml and other formats.

I've used previous version of this before and it worked to some extent(but there was no notification to say it had completed). But it does not work at all now - Mac 10.6.8 Thunderbird 17.0. When I press export with structure and define the folder nothing happens.

sorry for my late reply to your answer.
No, the "add date to the file properties" feature does not work properly yet.
As you know, each file (in Windows) has three timestamps: 1) created; 2) modified; 3) accessed.
Whenever you see the detailed list of files in Windows, the timestamp shown is the second one (modified), and you can see the other two by cliccking on "properties". Also in WinZip the timestamp shown is the second one.
If I am not wrong, your add-on sets the third timestamp (accessed) and lets the other two fields empty. So, sometimes Windows adds the current time to such fields. I would suggest you to set the timestamp of the second field (modified) when the feature "add timestamp" is thicked.
I guess that the problem is connected with new versions of Windows, for I am experiencing similar problems with the timestamps of pictures taken with my digital cameras. If I download them on a Windows XP computer the timestamp is ok, if I download them on a Windows 7 or Vista computer, I get the timestamp of the moment in which I downloaded them, but some programs are able to correct the problem (Olympus software is not able, Canon software is).

This is Exactly What I wanted and searching for.
It greatly reduced my tension for shifting folder from one computer TB to another computer TB.
