this is very practical!!!
Since today I have a Thunderbird 6.0.1, so I have to wait till this addon is updated.
Because it does not yet work on this Thunderbird version. I hope it will soon be released!!!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7.2).

in the meantime you can download the current pre-release (2.7.3pre4.xpi) here: http://downloads.mozdev.org/quickfolders/

This one is a radical improvement over the old way! Especially for power users this will save us TONS of time and headaches! WTG!

Great addon! One pieceof recommendation though: Could you enable an option to add a separator? I use "Toolbar Buttons" for themes (since it works well with personas), and it would be great if you could have the option to put a straight line/separator just like the one used by TB for its toolbars. Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Quickfolders is the ONE reason I am still using Thunderbird (I have nightmares dealing with text formatting in TB). QuickFolders makes managing e-mails incredibly quick and easy - faster than any other mail client! A must with anyone who gets 50+ emails/day.

Great addon. Sorting my email through my folders is much faster using QuickFolders.

Great, most important Add-on. We are eagerly waiting for a version for Thunderbird 5.0 (and yes, now that we felt the importance of QuickFolders, we WILL donate).

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

Thanks! yes, a new version is in the pipeline, just waiting for my translators, with some additional Postbox bug fixes.. Hopefully I will be able to release a version by this weekend - including review time it should be ready for use by the end of next week. In the meantime, you can use this prerelease version:

More prereleases will be made available on http://downloads.mozdev.org/quickfolders/ once I am nearing completion.

QuickFolders is one of my favourite add-ons. I use it to manage different email accounts in an efficient way and just to quickly switch between my most used folders. In fact this add-on is already useful when you just have one email account!
The use and options of QuickFolders are straightforward and some clear instructions are available.
Since version 2.7 is not compatible with Thunderbird 5.0 an update would be much appreciated and worth another donation... keep up the good work!

As a consequence of doing business I have accumulated well over 6000 email messages located in 500 folders and sub-folders (up to five levels deep). I am really happy with QuickFolders for easing access to my messages. I actually sent Axel $50USD. If my business ever recovers I will try to do something similar for other extension developers. Money is the best rating system there is.
I've been sending email since about 1985 and using Thunderbird since 2001. It's the best IMO.
I also recommend Allow HTML Temp, CompactHeader, Copy Sent to Current, Folderpane Tools, Manually sort folders, Printing Tools, Quicktext, and Show Address Only.

Ottimo plugin per chi deve gestire più account di posta elettronica con varie cartelle in cui suddividere la posta per evitare di esserne sommerso.
Un must!

what does it have to do for 5 stars? ;)

Taking time to review because it's a really needed tool to manage email. I've avoided using filters in the past because of having to dig into folders but this makes it easy again. So simple yet apparently overlooked by other developers. Surprised I haven't seen this before. I now have a core of essential thunderbird add ons and this is one of them. I may need to donate to alex and alex given the headaches this solves in organizing complex directories and inboxes. I'm still testing but initial impressions are quite good.

Oh no! Why haven't I found that great tool earlier?! Thank you very much for your excellent work! :-)

I appreciate the keyboard shortcuts. They let me navigate among folders quickly without needing the mouse.

I use my email in a very organize fashion and I also keep current project correspondence in individual (sub)folders. I keep all my folders in the normal Thunderbird column on the left, but this is not enough. Quickfolders lets me get to my most commonly-used folders immediately. Quickfolders also lets me file my correspondence in regularly-used project folders. And in the latest version (1.9.8 which the developer is letting me try) I can now access important Thunderbird commands (like "create subfolder" "delete folder" "rename folder", etc.) from the Quickfolders row. Basically, Quickfolders is an essential time and labor saver that multiplies Thunderbird's power by an order of magnitude. A must-have and fun to use, too!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.9.1).

.. allerding wurde QuickFolders auch nicht zu diesem Zweck konzipiert. z.B. gibt es bis jetzt noch keinen Support für Lightning daher wäre ich mit der Aussage "ersetzt Tabs in TB3" eher vorsichtig.

This needs an update; does not currently work with TB 3.1 RC, which has replaced TB 3.1b2

Hi,

I found and started using QF after "Additional folders view" no longer worked in TB 3.0.1. QF works very nicely, but somehow its tabs and those now in TB3 seem a bit clunky together, sometimes they seem to get in each other's way. Eg/zB I have 6 QF tabs and at the moment 4 TB tabs showing. When I click on one of the QF tabs, then it uses the currently selected TB tab for that, which I may have wanted to keep as it was.

Maybe someday an option to cause a click on a QF tab to open a new TB tab, especially when one of the QF tabs is pointing to a folder with many subfolders, where I right-click (very nice!) to select the folder I want. Or maybe a click on a QF tab causes a new TB tab to open if and only if the associated folder isn't already open in a TB tab? Otherwise go to the TB tab which already has that folder open. Or something like that. Just some random ravings.

Thanks for a great add-on, Bob

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.8.5.3).

Hi Bob, thanks for the detailed review. I must say I have thought very long and hard about how QuickFolders interacts with the new tabbed model in Thunderbird; clicking a QF tab I would always expect to "jump me to the folder" no matter where I am. But instead of opening a new tab every time and possibly creating mayhem on an already busy User Interface I opted to use either the current tab (if that displayed mail) or the first folder tab (if current tab was not a mail tab).

However - version 1.8.8 supports opening a new mail Tab when you hold down the CTRL key while clicking the Quickfolder or one of the sub menus.
