Great AddOn!
Using folderaccount in a small company. We use multiple identities corresponding to our projects, which streamlines our communications flow a lot. Folderaccount is key to implement this.

Essential !

I was looking for such an add-on for many months !
Great if you have to deal with several mail accounts, and do not want to have several inboxes !

Does what it claims, and very simply !

This add-on is great when I've received an email to the "wrong" account, and move it over (or filter it) to the folder for the right account. Then the replies will use the right return address, if I have the message's *own* folder selected. But there is a problem if I have several messages open, from different folders. If I don't watch out, the from address will use the folder I have selected, for the last message I opened, different from the message I am replying to. That is just as bad as using the address from the message itself, which is the problem I wanted to solve.

.Now I'll admit that it does what the description says it will do, but I just wish it did something a little different (and the description was likewise different.)

I have used the 3.0 beta for several weeks. I had some issues, but then discovered that it was Thunder Bird that had them, not Folder Account. Now I've used the latest 3.0 for a very long time and it works like a trains toilet. Excellent Product, thank you! Please Chris keep it coming!

It's hard to see in the graphic picture:
To use this extension, right-click on Thunderbird's folder, and then select "Properties".
Select an email identity from the box called "From Account".

An excellent addition to TB. I use it to change my From address when responding to support emails which have been forwarded to me from another address.

This extension makes it much easier for me and my wife to share our computer. It makes Thunderbird "just work" for each of us when we are reading our own mail. It helps with mailing lists too. This should be standard functionality.

I'm subscribed to a dozen of mailing lists using a separate mail address and a separate IMAP folder for each. With this add-on I configure a default to address - in my case the mailto address of the list - and a default account - in my case the address with which I'm subscribed to the list - for each folder. This way, I neither have to remember to set the correct From address nor the To address when posting to a list. I just click reply or new message and everything is set up correctly.
I simply couldn't live without this add-on!

This extension is of great use to me. I have some e-mail accounts on which I also receive mail that is forwarded to it through addresses other than my main address for that account. And for some of them I want to be able to send mail with those addresses in the From field.

Since I had already organized such forwarded mail to end up in separate folders, Folder Account came in real handy. Now I no longer have to select the right sender identity when composing an e-mail :)

The author quickly responded on my request for the beta version which supports TB3. And today I found an e-mail in my inbox with the final version of the extension.

After a little confusion on my part, I finally saw that the email address should be associated with the folder using Folder Properties.
I've done that with a folder that receives my mail, from a Group that requires my emails to be sent using a specific email identity. Hopefully, now I will not have any of my emails returned to me, because I didn't use the correct email identity when I sent them.
Thanks again.

This addon is must-have for multi-account users.

Thank you Christopher, for the great add-on. Works really well and should be part of Thunderbird by default! BUT: Please allow it to work together with "correct identity" (or include its functionality). That would be perfect :-)

What I'm finding is that I have to reassociate a given local folder with a non-default email account every time I bring up Tbird. As long as I don't restart, I'm fine - but once Tbird is restarted, the local folder accounts all revert to the default account. If it weren't for this, I'd give it 5 stars.

This is about the Download Now button, and I think it is happening on all the add-ons. In the How to Install in Thunderbird it says to right click and choose Save Link As. When I right click I don't get that option. It is treating the button as a graphic and not a link.

It was just what I was looking for. Simple and just works. I have server side delivery of different email addresses into folders. Now I can reply with the correct email address.

Thank you for solving one of Thunderbird's weaknesses. No more confusing people with emails sent from the 'wrong' email address.
