Very nice addon.
There's only one thing that hit me, I don't know if it's a bug or not.
When the current tab is private and that I open a new tab from bookmarks with a middle click it opens as private too.

> When the current tab is private and that I open a new tab from bookmarks with a middle click it opens as private too.

This is known issue:
https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/private-tab/#developer-comments
=> https://github.com/Infocatcher/Private_Tab#known-issues
This is due to balance between stability (and compatibility with another extensions) and with usability.

Download panel can't show download items in Private Tab (Nightly 43 + Private Tab 0.1.8).

I'll try to fix:

Все круто, но добавьте настройки (хотя бы для того, чтоб установить свое назначение клавиш)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.8).

Сочетания клавиш меняются с помощью настроек extensions.privateTab.key.* в about:config:

right-click naughty link, open in private tab.

This addon changes functionality of other tabs. The problem is not exactly another user has explained below. It doesn't mess up with the context menu. If you open a new tab, a bookmark or even double click a web shortcut on your desktop while you are on a private tab, it open the new tab in private mode. If you right click a bookmark while you are on the private tab and click open-in-new-tab it opens the item in a new private tab, so it looks like the right click menu is not working. In other words while you are on a private tab it enter the private mode and opens EVERYTHING on private mode which is quite unnecessary and can be very annoying. The solution is going back to a non-private tab and opening the desired new non-private tab there.

>> We just inherit private state from selected tab and tries preserve private state of dropped link-like things, this is simple to implement, but may confuse a bit…

> or even double click a web shortcut on your desktop while you are on a private tab, it open the new tab in private mode.

This is due to changes in recent Firefox versions. :(
https://github.com/Infocatcher/Private_Tab/issues/184

> If you right click a bookmark while you are on the private tab and click open-in-new-tab it opens the item in a new private tab, so it looks like the right click menu is not working.

"Open in a New Tab" from bookmark context menu works fine for me and opens a non-private tab. May be some conflict with another extension or something else.

So you delete or make deleted the reviews you don't like? Even though, you can't change the fact I commented about your extension, dear developer!

Here is the deleted message:

> This extension has replaced the default menu items
> like "Open in New Tab" with its own items. And,
> it opens every new tab in private mode and so the
> normal browsing is gone until you remove it. Just why?
> If you want to add your custom menu items, just put
> them and supply some options for their removal.
> Why on the earth do you remove the original ones?

HOWEVER,

I would like to be fair and state that the problem is gone. You had written a reply to my review before you made it deleted. I returned here to read it again and try to solve the problem according to your reply, and update my review if it would work. But after installing this add-on once again, I didn't see this problem this time. But I won't increase my rating because I'm very frustrated with the deletion of my review!

Sorry, but this is due to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/review_guide
"Don’t
Post technical issues, support requests, or feature suggestions. Use the available support options for each add-on, if available. You can find them in the side column next to the About this Add-on section."

Also there is my previous reply:
Context menu should be changed only for private tabs to not leak private data by mistake, see
https://github.com/Infocatcher/Private_Tab/issues/171
To open a non-private tab you can use built-in "new tab" button or "private tab" checkbox in tab context menu.

So, if original items are gone from context menu on non-private tab, this is bug (I never see it myself, so this may be some conflict with another extensions).
And built-in menu items will be hidden on private tabs "by design": used inheritance mechanism to make private all tabs and windows, that opened from private tabs, just to not leak any private data.
If you don't like this behavior, please describe your opinion here:
https://github.com/Infocatcher/Private_Tab/issues/171
Or post new issue, if you see some bugs:

FF37 before restarted, and the private tab which was made with the add-on I'm almost doing session restoration of was also restored.
But FF38 after could close now a tab.
If possible, please improve.

How can I change the shorcut? (open new private tab?)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.7.5.1-signed).

You can modify extensions.privateTab.key.openNewPrivateTab preference in about:config, see

One idea, change the colour of private tabs so they're easier to distinguish from normal tabs (I know the purple mask icon is there but I sometimes forget about it)
Or just change the favicon to the purple mask

This addon is awesome. It does what it is supposed to do really well. I can easily create new private tabs and book marks very easily. It is one of my favorite addons and I use it all the time.

My friend has told me to try it and I did. It turned out that this thing has already been implemented in the browsers' functionality. However I like to use it as a button which open a new private tab directly.
