This was the best extension. When the developer chose to abandon it... well, it's sad that FF does not natively allow for this kind of image flexibility. This used to be a must-have program. Now it's dust.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.3).A newer version has been created but is waiting for review by Mozilla - it has been over a month since I submitted it so I do not know what is taking so long. If you go to the bottom of the page and click on See Older Versions, you can download it from there v0.6.3

This was a great add on until it just stopped working.
No amount of changing to older versions of firefox/image saver helped.
The option for saving has even disappeared from the tools menu.
I miss it.
Great program until it decides to stop working, then just annoying.

Please release an update for 3.5.2, as nothing works as well as this image saver.

I used Pterodactl until it just stopped working, so I needed Save Images and it's far better. One thing I wanted to ask though: is there any option to automatically close all tabs from which you have just saved the images? Pterodactl used to do this and it saves you from having to manually close each one. If not I'd love to see this feature added to make it even more perfect.

Loved it until it stopped working with the current version.
jn5369, care to share it - or at least how you did it?
Thanks!

0.5.2 is working for me so far -- I had to edit though the xpi (the install.rdf file inside) to make the max version of firefox that it can be installed to v4.0.

I know guidelines say not to post bug reports here, but I've found no place else to report this: 0.5.1 does not work with Firefox 3.5 - it locks up the browser, even after uninstall/reinstall. And, FF 3.5 won't allow 0.5.2 to install at all.
I've been happy using this add-on prior to FF 3.5, so I am hoping a fix will come soon... & please add a bug report link. ;)
I am aware of Save Images not responding in versions of FF greater than 3.0.11. Saving of images still is working, its when opening the Options that FF takes 10-15 seconds for the Options to open. But this only seems to occur if the Windows XP theme has been changed to something other than the default XP style theme eg Windows classic. If anyone else can confirm this, I would appreciate it.
I do not have anywhere else where bugs can be reported, but feel free to send me emails to plashcor@gmail.com.

This doesn't work with firefox 3.5. It actually freezes the browser and requires killing it via task manager.

@DrGaellon [[I'd like to be able to "Save All Image Links" with one click, instead of having to open them, then "Save all images to the right".]]
I'd like this feature to be in the mainline as well. I've patched my version to do this by chaining simply chaining the two commands into a new menu item in the overlay XUL file. Though that hack requires that the focus be set to the new tab during the first command.
Overall it's a good extension and is pretty slick. I tried the Linky, but if you really just need a way to mass save image links this is a great tool.
Save Images is not an image downloader which is what it would need to be to save images from links. It is an imager saver ie. saves images that have already been "downloaded" by Firefox and are in Firefox's cache.
To save images from links, try DownThemAll which is a downloader and has capabilities of finding and downloading images from links.
