It should be a standard feature of Thunderbird: allows to fill in the send to field on a single line, exactly what I was looking for!
I think it also solves this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=528503

I'd love to have another button to "send and star", or even "send and star and archive". Is it difficult?
