majikbocks and others having the issue with the icon not appearing in the add-on bar it defaults to the Navigation bar for some reason. So look to the right of the address bar.

Best of class add-on. Clean, simple, and gets the job done. Also, to those complaining, the user agent list SHOULD be short and limited to the most commonly used agents. The more people spoofing the same browser that you are spoofing, the better your anonymity.

Odd interface, very out-of-date UAs, not convinced it's even working. Didn't crash FF though. I'm deleting it and trying something else.

Ok, but a few more user agents should be available by default (at least android, opera, chrome, IE, safari etc). With only iphone and IE, it's too limited, and I don't want to set up the user agent strings by hand (I couldn't download the list of user agents to import).

When it's working it works well but there are some bugs with it. Your user agent will get reset to default after every restart unless you add an entry to about:config. Create a new boolean entry 'useragentswitcher.reset.onclose' and set it to false. That will fix the reset problem.

Then there's the issue of Agent Switcher not working at all sometimes. For some reason Agent Switcher won't work on my main profile for FF 11. It installs but the user agent list is blank and nothing happens when I import a list and creating a new user agent doesn't work either. I had to create a new profile for it to work. On FF Nightly (FF 13) I never had any problems. Strange.

The UA list that comes with the addon is pretty weak. I don't know why the developer doesn't include a full updated list. It wouldn't be hard to do. I went to http://techpatterns.com/forums/about304.html to download a fairly recent updated list. So this addon can work but be prepared to tweak it if necessary.

Five stars although I don't really understand the benefits of switching user agents aside from a privacy perspective.
BUT- it does work- and very smoothly at that. Hence 5 stars.

Now there is an addon which works per domain based, if User Agent Switcher could use a code like that to work the same way is would be perfect. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/uacontrol/

One of the most important add-ons for me, a great tool against sites that do incorrect user-agent spoofing.

please make the setting persist over browser restarts.

I would also suggest to slightly rename the Menu entry, something like "User Agent: $agent" (or "UA: $agent"). I think this is a bit less confusing.

Two simple minor changes which will make this addon perfect for me! :-)

I use it since FF 3.X, and i'm already at FF9, without any problems.

Epic when you work with Mobile Web. Of course it does not emulate the html rendered by the devices but the main use is to test the behavior of some application in lots of user-agents.

5*

Somehow I installed this on Firefox v9.0.1 and it works perfectly fine, helping me to download HDMOV movie trailers from apple.com. Doesn't slow the browser down, the button looks fine with my theme. Handy addon.

This plugin makes browser UGLY slow!
Just try to open new window (Ctrl+N). The browser and system hungs up for a few seconds during this operation.

Tested on browser: FF 3.6

This is a great extension and very useful. However, it does not work with SeaMonkey 2.6. I delayed updating SeaMonkey when it told me that this extension would be disabled if I updated from 2.5 to 2.6.

Many thanks for this add-on, it's an invaluable tool for accessing websites that falsely declare "your browser is incompatible/outdated." Only concern is the toolbar icon - it increases the size of the add-on bar when placed in it, and when in the navigation bar it does not have the same button style as the other icons.

My additions in English:

About this Add-on:
The User Agent Switcher extension adds a menu and a toolbar button to switch the user agent of a browser. Allows you to mask your browser and operating system. You can export / import of settings in the XML.
For example, to view the video without adobe flash plugin (with HTML5), choose User-Agent - Iphone.
User Agent to Firefox is restarted not reset to default, and is stored, you must:
about: config
create new string value:
useragentswitcher.reset.onclose true

My Russian translation:

User-Agent - Iphone.
Чтобы User Agent при перезапуске Firefox не сбрасывался на default, а запоминался, необходимо:
about:config
create new string value:
useragentswitcher.reset.onclose true

Check out what sites are redirecting mobile users with the iPhone user agent. Need to find more user agents to import though.
