Works great, no bugs!

I love this plug in and will recommend this highly for one simple reason, you can strip out the version and platform you are using from the user agent field, something people need to use if we are going to put a stop to the browser wars and force standard makers to stop making creating web sites so difficult you have to agree to complicated license agreements and tools just to make a web site. I don't mind a few bells and whistles, but my css code should not end up being larger than the actual content itself - what happened to saving our foot prints - lol! Tools like this will put a stop to the browser wars, just say, Mozilla, Netscape, Ver 5.0, that's all a web designer should have to deal with. No platform information is really necessary unless you are trying to make it easier for hackers, which is a rampant problem today.

PS yea it would be cool to always use a set string on a certain website or mask

This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Excellent add-on, you need not install different versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc. It saves my money by allowing to download my favorite mobile apps and games.

As the title says - it would be nice to have an option to restrict the user-agent string to either certain tabs, or certain sites... Rather than having the string be used across all tabs and all sites until otherwise set to a different string.

It would also be nice if there were more preset strings. The option to 'download list of user agents' seems to do nothing at all.

UPDATE: I found a list of user-agent string to download from previous comments below. However, it would be nice if a settable number of recently used stings could stay on top.. Making it so it only sticks on certain tabs or sites is a MUST TO-DO thing, IMO. It's nice though, once one finds a list of strings to use.

To reiterate, here is the list: http://techpatterns.com/forums/about304.html

My ISP have unlimited plans for mobile devices but not for desktops. Still applications like utorrent can use internet but not the Browsers, here comes the role of user agent switcher to spoof the agent. As my mobile (J2ME) cannot run scripts etc I had problems viewing pages in that but with User Agent Switcher I can open them in desktop.

This addon is a must have for web developers. Befor I got this I had to ask my friends to look at if a website's user agent detection works on various websites. With this addon I can just Google in for the User Agent information and I got my testing cut out for me.

Sehr gutes Add on, das wunderbar funktioniert.

... after editing the install.rdf file. It would have helped if the author had commented the sections in the install.rdf file with the plain-language equivalents of the cryptic security signatures. Download the .xpi file here by right-clicking on the "Add to Firefox" button. Unzip the .xpi file with Winzip or other archive manager and open the install.rdf file with a text editor such as Notepad or gedit. The SeaMonkey entry is identifiable as {92650c4d-4b8e-4d2a-b7eb-24ecf4f6b63a}. Change the maxVersion value from the default 2.0.* to 2.8.* or 2.9.*, re-zip the archive and change the file name extension from .zip to .xpi. Open the file with SeaMonkey and it will install without a problem.

User Agent Switcher doesn't make your Mozilla-based browser work like Microsoft Internet Explorer, but it will fool "snob" sites that don't even want to let browsers other than MSIE in the door. I can accept that my browser may render the page differently, but please don't bar entry completely. Useful tool.

Damit kann man z. B. die alte Version vom Webmailer von 1&1 aufrufen. Diese ist viel flotter und werbefrei. Auch gut für Leute die sehen wollen wie ihre Webseite auf manchen Handies dargestellt wird
