This utility compresses better than unMHT, but it is far too clumsy to use for saving files in .mht format .
In that respect unMHT is vastly superior ( = just click icon !) . It also reads ok.
Unfortunately unMHT does not qualify to show up in the regular Mozilla repository.

Thanks for helping :-) It's unfortunate that the "support section" link when writing a review in the Mozilla Add-ons website doesn't lead to a useful location yet, despite this issue has already been reported.

Would be useful to have the option to use a 'quick save' instead of going through the normal 'Save As'' dialog.
This would allow to save files to a named folder, use the page name, and have the option to add date and time stamps say %year% %month% etc.
Also the yellow bar could do with an option but that's a nicety.
Many thanks to the author for a great addon!
Thank you for your feedback. Some of the features you suggest might already be available using Mozilla Archive Format in combination with other add-ons, and the option to disable the information bar will be available in a future version. You're welcome for more discussion on the Mozilla Archive Format mailing list or newsgroup (http://maf.mozdev.org/feedback.html).

I love it! Its great for me. The last version 2.04 works great. Is it possible to disable the yellow bar that appears when opening a MAFF file? The icon in address bar is enough to me..
If I have only one chance to ask the autor for an improvement i choose to add compatibility to the Tree Style Tab Extension. Saving tabs with hierarchical architecture for me would be Great. I love saving a lot of pages into one file only. It is fantastic for research and having links to the original web pages makes my work easier.. 5 Stars! (because there aren't 10).

Thanks for the suggestion, an option to disable the information bar will be available in a future version of the add-on. With regard to other features, they surely require more discussion on the Mozilla Archive Format mailing list or newsgroup (http://maf.mozdev.org/feedback.html).

It is a very good addon! Pleasure, update for Seamonkey 2.6.1!
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.0.2.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo.Full compatibility with SeaMonkey 2.6 will be available in version 2.0.4. Meanwhile, version 2.0.2 is now marked as compatible, to facilitate updates, despite a known issue with opening multi-page MAFF archives.

This add-on is absolutely worth 5 stars. It gives me a very easy way of saving many tabs in one file and then being able to open them directly as they would display had I opened them live. HOWEVER, please note that unfortunately version 2.0.2 is not yet compatible with FF 9.0.x (it worked perfectly in FF 8). It is not possible to open a MAF file containing multiple tabs yet. If you are looking for that option: wait for a newer version than 2.0.2. This issue has already been reported recently, so I am pretty sure that it will be fixed soon.
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.0.2.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo.This has been fixed in version 2.0.4, thank you for the report. This version is already available for manual installation and will probably be available as an automatic update in the next few days.

After having numerous problems with downloading files from numerous sites, I finally tracked the problem back to this addon. In light of the problems it caused me (and yes I went addon by addon by addon to track the problem) I can't recommend this addon at this time.

I don't know what is the matter but I can't get it to work under FireFox 8.0 Worked flawlessly with all previous versions.
Under FF 8.0 I do not get the option of maff in the "file type" drop down menu when I select "Save Page as...." in the right click context menu. I hope I do not have to revert to version 7.01 just to use this extension.
Would rate it as 5 Star but for this problem!
I stand corrected. Since "Save to folder" did not work with ff 8.0 I installed "download sort" which prevented maff from working. Soon as I remoced it everything is working fine.
This extension makes life so much easier with only a single file to be managed in stead of the file + folder pain, you know where !!!

On Firefox 5.0.1 running on Mac OS X 10.6.8, I found that the Mozilla Archive Format 1.0.0 add-on caused Firefox to regularly consume 100% CPU for several minutes, during which time it would be unresponsive. UPDATE: I was mistaken. Although the problem initially disappeared after I disabled the Mozilla Archive Format 1.0.0 add-on, the problem has now returned, and the Mozilla Archive Format 1.0.0 add-on is still disabled. I've increased the rating I'm giving to the add-on accordingly.
The add-on doesn't provide an option to save web pages in a format that allows them to be previewed using "Quick Look" in the Finder.
Other than that, it seems to be OK.
While I don't have access to the Mac platform, the issue with Quick Look seems a limitation of the operating system. Maybe there is a way to make Quick Look compatible with MAFF or at least MHTML. You may try and write to a Mac-specific support forum, or to the Mozilla Archive Format mailing list or newsgroup (http://maf.mozdev.org/feedback.html) to see if other users have resolved the problem.

Hi Paolo.I was reading a post over (http://www.mozdev.org/pipermail/maf/2010-March/000431.html) and I had the same problem.
So to solve this I created a XML MIME file to register Maff MIME type and make Linux recognize maff files like maff files in fact, differentiating them from zip files, because actually Linux systems recognizes maff files as ordinary zip files, and handle as so, if anyone associates maff files with firefox, zip files will be associated too, what is very annoying.
With registration of MIME type we can associate maff files with Firefox without disturbing zip files association, which is a blessing help.The required steps are:First create a empty plain text, now paste the following content on it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<mime-info xmlns="http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/shared-mime-info">
<mime-type type="application/x-maff">
<comment>Maff File</comment>
<comment xml:lang="pt">Ficheiro Maff</comment>
<comment xml:lang="pt_BR">Arquivo Maff</comment>
<glob pattern="*.maff"/>
</mime-type>
</mime-info>
This content describes maff files and maff extention to MIME engine used by Gnome, KDE, Rox etc.
That done, save this file with name and extention maff.xml , now with root privileges paste maff.xml file you just created under bellow folder:
/usr/share/mime/packages
That folder is apropriate in Linux to locate xml MIME type files we created.
That done, run the following command to update MIME type database:
update-mime-database /usr/share/mime
That done, restart X, you can restart system or if you prefer to kill X use the command: killall Xorg
After restart X maff files will be recognized as maff files dissassociated from zip files, now you can associate maff itself with firefox and zip files will not be associated togother anymore.
Lines like <comment xml:lang="pt_BR">Arquivo Maff</comment> are basically translation of line <comment>Maff File</comment> who serves like a description label of MIME for human reading, then anyone can add specific translation to respective native languages in native language characters, if know what are doing, as I'm brazilian I added european portuguese and brazilian portuguese translation, so don't be afraid, if I knew more languages, I would include, but I do not know, So will be better to leave that to those who knows it with property.
For further info about MIME association in Linux you can read the official shared MIME spec page over (http://standards.freedesktop.org/shared-mime-info-spec/shared-mime-info-spec-latest.html)
Now Paolo, two things lasts like problems, first we Linux users need official png artwork icons to emblem (personificate) maff files in Linux systems, I looked over project's page but don't find any artwork, so any direction about this would be cool.
And the second issue is even when maff are set as default saving format we Linux users still get ".html" extention piece name saved before maff extention, so we get things like:
mypage.html.maff
That is very boring, to make me well understandable have any solution to make it save files like:
mypage.maff without ".html" piece.
PS: I'm not an english speaker as you can see, so write here was a great sacrifice. So if killed the english give a break, was necessary.
This is very useful, thanks for your contribution and sorry for the late response! I already did some research, and the greatest difficulty is automating all these tasks at installation time, especially running "update-mime-database" and making sure the associations are refreshed without restarting, which would be optimal. I recommend you write to the mailing list (http://maf.mozdev.org/feedback.html) if you want to follow up on this, you'll surely receive a more timely response!
