I have a feature request. Make it so you can add a program in open with > add program and then have the option to open any file type with that program, instead of having to add it for every file type manually.

Overall, a great application. Quick installation, quick to use, and generally reliable. Sometimes when I overwrite files, the new code is just added on instead of replaced.

Now drag-and-drop works again.. and I'm still on 3.5.1. Maybe an update to 3.5.1 was installed in the background or something..

Great add-on, by the way. My favorite FTP client.

Drag & drop no longer works for FireFTP 1.0.4 in Firefox 3.5.1. Dragging a file or folder into FireFTP does not upload it, but instead Firefox opens it in local viewing/browsing mode, effectively killing the most important feature of an FTP client.

This is a major usability issue and it renders the extension practically useless. It's not just me who depends on the ability to drag a folder into FireFTP and have it uploaded.

To Mozilla:
I don't want to browse a directory in a browser. That's what I have Explorer or Finder for. DON'T make this a default and override an extension's main purpose.

To Mime Cuvalo (the plugin developer):
Thank you, honestly, for creating an essential plugin that many, many people now depend on. I admire your work. Now please don't leave us hanging on this issue.

This bug has been addressed here a month ago. If fixing this major problem is too complicated right now for whatever reason, I would appreciate it if a kind person could
post a hint as to where the problem might be. If the developer doesn't have a solution right now, please help us find a solution, or at least a workaround.

- is there a setting in Firefox's about:config that directly relates to the browser overriding plugin settings (in particular: drag&drop)?
- is there a priority setting in FireFTP for this function that can be adjusted to a higher level?
- is there ANYTHING anybody can add to help find this issue?

This is not open-source just because the word sounds cool. If YOU (who is reading this right now) use any open-source app in your life, and if YOU happen to have a clue where to start looking in this case, YOU are required to invest 30 seconds of your life to help fix this thing. Right now.

Thank you.

Hey robrob,
This has already been fixed - you need to use FireFTP 1.0.5. You might have extension compatibility turned off because version 1.0.4 is not supposed to work with Firefox 3.5 and higher.

Cheers!
Mime

Love the Plugin, but I have Firefox 3.5 and the add-ons page tells me to download an older version... So NOT compatible with 3.5-2.5.* then??!!

FireFTP is one of my favorite add-ons. Before I switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox years ago, I used IE's built-in ftp. It was enough for my needs at the time, except it kept getting broken over and over. Asking for help fixing it was sure to yield at least one "get a real ftp client" response. FireFTP just works; no time-wasting distractions from website development. I run Firefox Beta, so I really appreciate its author keeping it promptly updated to keep up with Firefox code changes. He's very polite/helpful too, should the need arise to contact him. The interface is flexible enough that I could arrange it to appear much like the IE one I was used to, and simply drag/drop files just like I always did. I use ftp more than ever now, and FireFTP still does everything I want/need. It's as real of an ftp client as anyone could want. The right add-ons make Firefox fantastic; FireFTP is the right add-on for ftp. I've been using FireFTP for a long time now and couldn't be more pleased. Thanks for sharing it on AMO!

Like boonchek mentioned I als had a problem of sniffing FTP passwords by malware a couple of weeks ago.
2 accounts wich I had opened with FireFTP were infected with (iframes) code written on many files. It was hard to clear it up everywhere.
I liked FireFTP very much, but after this incident I did not use it anymore. I had to reset all my passwords.
I wonder if there is anything known about this possibility of hacking FireFTP or has it nothing to do with FireFTP ...???
