My Reviews

stripImages

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

What I really need is a way to delete images from existing received emails to save disk space. Doing it manually takes hours.

Expertspam

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

When I click the button the email vanishes but I don't know if a report has been sent.

Compact Headers

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I can't find the button to edit the settings so I can use single-line mode. Otherwise it works well.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.8).

Still not working with Thunderbird 68.7.0.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.60).

AdvancedTasks

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Doesn't seem to do anything.
I installed it but I'm not seeing any differences.
Using TB 60.6.1.

Attachment Manager

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Not compatible with TB 60+

AttachmentExtractor

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Please get it working for the newer versions.

Mozilla always leaves their addon developers behind.

English (en-GB) Language Pack

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Thunderbird latest version says it's corrupt, I downloaded it twice to make sure.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (52.0).

MinimizeToTray Reanimated

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Brilliant! I can minimize to tray again, but for how long?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.9).

MinimizeToTray revived

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

MinimizetoTray died again. There is currently no way to minimize to tray. Why can't Mozilla just build it in as a standard feature? We've been down this road too many times now.

ThunderSec

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Seems good so far but it interfers with the notifications in TB 45. So if TB says "Thunderbird thinks this message is junk", then you can't see the message from Thundersec. You can't click the close button either because the Thundersec messages are not underneath them.

I think it needs adjusting for average users. I just wanted to validate that messages were from the host they said they were and then either move to Junk or Deleted items (a feature I feel TB should have out of the box).

Session Manager

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Usability needs improving a lot.

Rename should use a drop down / text box combined to enable you to select existing group (otherwise you end up with Shopping, shops, buying, and purchases in the list.
Delete closes the tools menu but what if you want to delete more than one? You have to load the folder up.
Not really a way to grab multiple sessions and regroup / delete them.
Append to current session could be simplified to "Open in new window".

Should be built in to Firefox as it's extremely useful as is. Reduces the amount of bookmarks you need and allows you to create tasks to do the things you need to in multiple tabs.

Save Images

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

What's Good
Can save all images from all open tabs and restrict to certain filesizes and dimensions. Can also save from current tab or tabs to the left or tabs to the right. Very useful for wallpaper sites. Will save to a given folder. It generally saves only images you want. It will not save images with known banner sizes but not all banners have the standard dimensions.

Improvements
There is a bug where it will show the dialogue box at the start with 0 images saved. It will then go on to save all images properly and provide the same dialogue again with the right number of images saved. Minor issue that needs fixing.

Would be good to be able to block keywords such as "banner" as not all banners are the proper sizes.

Message Notes Plus

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I wanted to add text to emails so that they would show up in the search in future (like tags in Firefox bookmarks). This addon lets you add notes in an attractive and sensible way but is not factored into the search engine.

There is no box alongside the other buttons (Sender, Recipients, Subject, Body) which would be idea really.

Otherwise it's great. It appears as a panel at the bottom of the message and there is the ability to change the height of the box if so wished. It works well with TB 38.5.0.

SmartTemplate

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

..you find out it's not compatible with Thunderbird anymore.

Stop Tube HTML5

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works ok but only for fresh page loads and not refresh or links.

One Little Galaxy

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

It looks nice but it makes readability very difficult.

Hide Local Folders

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

To go: Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings > Under Message Storage, go to Advanced > Inbox for a different account > Choose "Local Folders".

Now set up a mail rule Under: Tools > Message Filters to move the messages into a folder of your choice.

Lightning

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like Lightening but it's not compatible with Thunderbird 17.0.5. With it being so essential to TB's usage I don't think Mozilla should release an update until it's compatible with all major addons, this being #1.

OK thanks for the reply. I assumed as I had the latest version that I was also using the latest TB, but apparently not, I'll do an upgrade when I get home.
