This is a crucial add-on -- should be a built-in feature, really. It allows PINE lovers like myself to file email quickly.

It is, however missing one key UI feature: when I file an email, the focus moves to... some insane random place. This means I have to click with my MOUSE to select the next email which I then want to file. Since the whole point of this plugin is to file my 325 emails quickly, that's a very serious problem.

To me the most important Thunderbird extension. I missed this in MS Outlook so much. I archive nearly every email I get, so this extension makes it very easy for me to target the right folder. With drag&drop with the mouse most of the mails got dumped in the wrong folder.

everywhere (at least 3 places) you are claiming "Quickfile is an extension for Mozilla Thunderbird which initially aimed to speed up filing of messages into your mail folder heirarchy but now includes features for navigation and folder creation. "

but you have not really mentioned anywhere what are those features.

When in the dialogue box to enter a folder abbreviation, do not use the mouse to select a folder. This just does not work. Use rather the tab or the arrows keys and then hit enter.
Apart from this bug, it is a superb add-on that spares lot of time, if you do archive your emails separately.

It interferes with the functionality of the "mark as junk" command - with this extensions in use, "mark as junk" does not move the junked messages to the Junk folder.

Does exactly what I need; no more, no less. The dlg box is expandable, and the hotkey is user-selectable.

Quickfile has been an essential tool for me, providing rapid filing of any message. However, an old difficulty has re-curred once Thunderbird 2 is installed - every attempt to complete the selection of a folder results in a "destination folder invalid" message.

If you file emails, it's an extension you can't live without. Simple alt-Q shortcut then auto-complete folder names as you type to file your email to the appropriate folders. No mouse dragging required.

Fantastic addon, but if you use the mouse to select a folder in the drop down list (after alt-q and typing something), then it gives an error -
"Destination folder invalid".
Doesn't appear if you just use keyboard.

Ian.

For anyone who does a lot of filing and particularly has a lot of folders and subfolders, this extension is a must. It provides for easy filing if you know the name or part of a name of the folder in which you wish to file an email.

Excellent, but a small bug, at least on Thunderbird 2 beta2: It only works if the thread pane (the page showing the list of messages in that folder) is highlighted. If the folder pane or message pane are highlighted, pressing Alt+Q does nothing. Having to switch to the message pane is a blow to efficiency, which is what this extension is all about. Otherwise, it's perfect: Quick, simple, and well designed.
