If you are looking for a successor of this Extension, there is Nostalgy (a bunch of features aimed at keyboard navigation), or Quick Folder Move (simple move/copy only extension, probably closest to this extension).

Quickfile was excellent, unfortunately it's not maintained any more. But there is an alternative. Check the nostalgy add-on. It has equivalent functionality but more features.

How can such an add-on be left without a "father"?
It is an essential part of Thunderbird, can someone get it to work with TB3.0.*?

This is a neccessary extension, and I hope you upgrade it to support 3.0*

Why is Thunderbird 3.0 so slow? And I can't even use this add-on!!!

For my use the greatest Add on of Thunderbird at all. Please let us know if an upgrade is in sight, else I might consider to go back to previous version.
Many thanks for the years of use anyway!.

Expecting Thunderbid 3 compatibility too. It was a very usefull addon on the previous version

Quickfile 0.17.0.0008 is not compatible with Thunderbird 3.0. Any chance you are working on a new version? Many thanks.

I have to admit that this add-on is the only one stopping me from moving to Microsoft Outlook. But, now that I've upgraded to 3.0 I feel like a cripple.
Please update this add-on to support Thunderbird 3

Can I add my voice to those encouraging the author to make it compatible with Thunderbird 3? Nostalgy can indeed be used, but its default move-to folder is changed every time you move a message to a different folder. This means that you can't unthinkingly rely on Shift-S to send a message to your standard "move-to" folder.

0.17.0.0008 not compatible with 3.0... Nostalgy might be a reasonable alternative.

This is one of the best and usable extensions I use, thanks a lot.
Problem is that I have upgraded to Thunderbird 3 and now I cannot use it. Please port it to this new version...

I love this add-on. It is immensely helpful to store messages in my extensive hierarchy of folders. Are there plans to make it compatible with Thunderbird 3?

I wish I could place a button in the toolbar for certain folders. i.e. Once I am done with a message, rather than leaving it in my inbox, I want to move it to a certain email archive folder with a click of a button (versus Alt-Q, then typing something). Is there an add-on that will do this?

This extension saves me a lot of time every day, and helsp me archiving my emails in the right folders.

It doesn't work on MacOS X straight out of the box, but it can be easily fixed by going to the preferences>advanced>config editor and changing quickfile.shortcuts.move.modifiers from 'alt' to 'control'. You can also edit the other keys there.

Hello,

Will it be possible to update this very useful addons to the last version Thunderbird 3.0 ?

For those who love the basic feature and idea of Quickfile, but are frustrated by its slight flaws (see my earlier review, below), you may want to search for some of the other, perhaps newer plugins now available. Nostalgy seems to work very well, for instance.

What would really be cool is this add-on could somehow be married to the Mail Classifier add on, so that it would learn where I move the messages...

I've adapted to this add-on very quickly, and it's proving invaluable. I have it set so that the "instant move" feature moves read incoming mail to an archive folder, which speeds things up nicely. It makes it very quick and easy to search for folders that are buried deep in folder trees, too.

It does have one flaw, which has been pointed out by a number of others: once the message has been filed, no message is selected, so you have to select the next message using the mouse, which interferes with the workflow. If this were fixed I'd happily move this up to five stars.
