The instructions on how to get the google calendar http:// or https:// urls is wrong. There aren't any XML buttons on the Google Calendar Settings page?

Sounds like it will be the perfect solution for my needs, once it works with Thunderbird 3.0 :-)

Hello everybody.
I can use TB3 to read my Google calendar. I have updated Lightning for TB 3, but I can not update this nice plugin to write into my Google cal straight from Tb.
When will it be available? Any other alternatives?

Pataglu, I tried your link to the Lightning nightly version, which works fine in TB3 but I still get an error message from "Fournisseur pour Google Agenda" saying that it won't work with TB3... Any clue ?
I also tried the method indicated by 'detful' (december 12th), it seems to work at first, but then my calendar shows a little warning icon "The calendar XXX is momentarily unavailable".
Thanks for helping ! And happy new year 2010 !

Works fine with Thunderbird 3 on Mac if you download the latest from:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/releases/1.0b1rc1/mac/
Nice look and feel.

Why can't I down load nightly build from here:
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/calendar/lightning/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/linux-xpi/gdata-provider.xpi
?
This is doing my head in - I've just updated to Tb V3.0 and can't access my calendars because I can't download the nightly.
Thanks.

Ce provider n'est pas compatible TB3, la nouvelle version de TB devrait embarquer le calendrier Google

Ok, I found a way to make Lightning in Thunderbird 3 work for Google Calendar (sorry for all those who would consider it "too obvious").
1 - Download Nightly Lightning builds for your O.S. at this page: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/download.html
2 - Install it in Thunderbird
3 - Add a new Calendar and choose the options "on the network" --> "CalDAV"
4 - Enter the location of your calendar (https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS/events)
Done!
