I like this add-on and "need" it ... well done.
But, i wish, it will be more developed. More little functions and possibilitys.
how ever ... thanks for this add-on.

Wow - talk about BAD INSTRUCTIONS from the developer of this. . o O ( sigh )

I was correct (for the most part on my thoughts - that the instructions were seriously missing something.)

Follow the instructions from the below LINK and it will work! :D I just had my calendar get ALL my appointments and such from Google Calendar!!

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-google-calendar

Again - follow it carefully and it will work.

I'm still giving it a LOW RATING - because the developer should have known this from the start and/or at least LINKED us to this site.

Tried to use it. The doc said:
1 Open your Google Calendar -- OK!
2 Click on the Settings link located in the box at the right of the page. -- OK!
3 Click on the calendar you want to use with Thunderbird Lightning or Sunbird. -- I've just one ?
4 Click on either of the two XML buttons shown at the bottom. -- Never seen an XML button!

Does work but... completely stalls Thunderbird on startup IF connected to the internet. starting with disabled internet-connection first, than enable the net, everything works fine for me. Win 7, TB 24.3.0, Lightning 2.6.4.

since the last lightning and thunderbird update (I am using kubuntu), thunderbird ist freezing about five seconds after start, if this plugin is activated. After deactivateing this plugin, thunderbird is working well, again.
At the Blogsite of Philipp Kewish the last entry is from 2013, September, so I think, there is no longer support for this plugin.
I am very sad about this, because the plugin was the only one, to be able to synchronisize and handle offline the google calendar.

Waiting for an upgrade to fix the "offline bug".

Fonction très utile mais ne marche pas en mode offline, car il fait buger thunderbird quand cette fonction est activée.
Bien mais en attente de ma mise à jour

I've been using this for a good year or so now and it's excellent at integrating my Google calendar with Thunderbird. Anything I add, whether it's in Thunderbird, on my phone, iPad or on the GMail website all get synced across all devices.

For the users who complain it doesn't work with 2-step verification and they have to keep entering their password... that's the point of 2 step verification, numbskulls! You need to log in to your Google account and into the security settings and set an application specific password to use! This will be given to you, a 16 digit code that you should use only for one application and can easily revoke by logging in to the same page.

Awesome tool. Many thanks to the developer! :)

I'm not sure if the mismatch is due to Lightning's latest update (Dec 2013 as of right now). I get a complete hang within 30 sec of loading Thunderbird, and it just keeps freezing.
I admire the developer's work, and since I I don't have the knowledge to do the same (or edit the extension), I'm now using the Google Calendar Tab which serves my purpose anyway. I can't do things offline but since I want to stay synced with Google Calendar (I use it on my phone, etc.) it's okay. And I'll keep an eye out to any update from this extension.

As always, when something is provided free and it's something I have no way of reproducing myself, I am truly grateful to the developer for having gone this far and all the efforts that have been put in this extension until now!

TB24.0.2, Lightning 2.6.4, Provider 0.25
This used to work perfectly. Now since December, Thunderbird freezes on opening and can only be opened in safety mode. Disabling Provider enables TB to work again. Come on - please fix it - clearly I am not the only one having problems..

Have used this add on for a number of years and loved it. Now not so much. Not all of my events sync and when I add them from Thunderbird they disappear never to be found again. I used this so I could keep up with appointments of other family members. What can be done to correct this problem as it makes no sense to use it if it will not sync all of my appointments or lose my appointments.

TB24.0.2, Lightning 2.6.4, Provider 0.25
even with all other plugins deactivated (not many of them) Thunderbird freezes - before that just nice work!

Is it really that hard to remember a password?

I use two factor authentication and since this addon can't even use the password manager to remember a simple password, everytime I restart Thunderbird, I have to either generate a new application password, or I have to remember/save the application password somewhere, either way it totally defeats the purpose.

Oh well, this addon used to be pretty good. It's just sad to see it fall into such a state of disrepair. I guess it's back to read-only ics calendars for me.

All seems to stem from a beta version (27.0) of Thunderbird. I reverted back to 24.2 and everything is working again, including Lightning 2.6.4. This is still a top-notch add-on but needs brought in line with newer versions of TB and Lightning.

A once terrific Add-on stopped working several weeks ago. None of my calendars read or write to or from Google any longer.

Please fix, and I will be more than happy to revise my review. Thank you.

My calendars stopped working a few weeks ago, after an update. Can't give a positive rating to a product that doesn't work.
