Great add-on but also dangerous.
I can export and see all my passwords without entering a master password in firefox which im my case is set.
For those who want buckup their settings I can recomend MozBackup.

This add-on made my life much much easier. I would like to thank to the developer. Easy to use, easy to back up and restore. This is a "MUST" for Firefox users.

It worked after I edited the xml backup.
Problem was with one character in the xml file
So the program doesn't work with romanian special characters on xml backups

did not work,
when trying to import the passwords on the same version of FF , received the error: "XML parsing error. Passwords could not be imported."

useless.

considering open-id is not up and running yet, and the fact i have bad luck with laptops and i've replaced 5(!) in the last 2 years, this tool is a life saver.
obviously you need to be careful with the export, but that goes for everything.

does what it's supposed to, VERY helpful.
i love it, and will use it again for my next laptop.
wonder how long until that one :)

Great addon. Thank you.
One thing I'd like to request: Could you please enable "ftp.xxxx.xxx" urls? If you use the FireFTP addon, its passwords are also added to the same section and when I tried export them, I faild. Thank you.

I don't know about special marks, but this extension has always worked fine for me. For now this is the best add-on to export your passwords to another Firefox browser without involving 3d party Internet sites to transfer the data.

Used it for a while, but (temporariily?) gave up in favour of SyncPlaces. My problem was the fact that the 'obfuscate' feature , once called 'Encrypt', was not equipped with a personal encryption key. Password exporter would always export and import your passwords using the same algorithm, so the encrypted file did not really provide a safe backup. The author does warn of this, but really a more visible alert would be needed inside the addon's dialog.

Yes. Unfortunately this addon screws up passwords that contain special characters and replaces them with %*number* codes both in XML and CSV format and is thus completely useless. To the Author: fix it! (If you actually want people to be able to use this addon), until then I dont recommend it.

Nonsensical addon. Really surprised it is endorsed as "recommended" by Mozilla itself. It's dangerous: passwords using non-standard characters are simply SCREWED UP!!!!!! DO NOT RELY ON THIS ADDON!!!!!

I used this add-on as a failsafe for when I upgraded firefox from 3.1 to 3.5. It won't save the password list in XML format if one of the passwords contains a "special" character but CSV works OK and that's really all I wanted it for. Luckily I never had to use the import feature, but if I ever do I'll post again.

I think this is great and extremely useful. It saved me soooo much headache in transferring to a new PC.

BUGGY!

I've used the Password Exporter for quite a while and used to like it a lot, but now I discovered there was a CRUCIAL problem with it: IT MESSES UP SOME PASSWORDS! Some characters are not recognized / exported properly. I haven't tested it extensively, but I know that for example the euro sign (€) is replaced by a negation (¬). Needless to say this is VERY frustrating.

Besides, I'm not sure what the point of this extension is anymore, since you can easily export and import bookmarks from within Firefox itself (open the bookmark manager -> import / export as HTML)
