I hope this add-on keeps getting developed. I cannot do without it. It is still working in Firefox 6, but I hope it keeps working in future versions.

Very nice, simple and useful add-on. Just be aware that it may block some features on specific pages.(I had to add finance.yahoo.com to the Blacklist because Linkification blocked the streaming quotes).

To make any text link clickable, simply "double click" somewhere on that text. For example; try double-clicking on the following text link:

Great add-on, but since FF5 I am having issues with file:/// links on some pages. Version 1.39 used to work on FF3.6. On FF5 it does not. On FF5 a trailing space after file:/// links is not always cut off, i.e. is included in the link (%C2%A0). That makes file:/// links unusable. Would be great to see a fix in the next release. Thank you! P.S. I am posting it here only since link to Author's Contact page is not working.

Install 'Add-on Compatibility Reporter' extension for ff (https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/). At once, it's often the easiest path to solve compatibility version number with new version of firefox. Regards

The manual update to Firefox 5.0 annoyed me for a minute. Unzipping the contents of the XPI produced a disparate set of files instead of one folder, so after editing the RDF in notepad I re-zipped the files and changed the ZIP extension to XPI. Drag-and-drop installation went smoothly.
As minor of an inconvenience as that was, it can confuse casual users.

Thanks for the instructions susan, the update worked perfectly.

Google "Linkification firefox 5" and you should find a solution. The FF5 DIY solution did not work for me on Mac.I hope someone can make this simple edit and update this page. I don't know why this Add-on is always out of date...but who can complain for free? ;-)

1) Why isn't this page updated to the latest version
2) yellow5.us/contact/ broken (goes home page)

It's easy...here's how:
1. Right click on the "Add to Firefox" download button and select "Save Link As..."
2. In the dialogue box that comes up, select the Desktop to save it to.
3. Find the addon-190-latest.xpi file on your desktop and change the file extension to .zip (When you get the warning asking if you're sure you want to change it, click on "Yes".
4. Extract the zip file.
5. In the extracted zip folder find the file called install.rdf. Open the .txt file with Notepad
6. Find the following text:
<!-- Firefox -->
<em:targetApplication>
<Description>
<em:id>{ec8030f7-c20a-464f-9b0e-13a3a9e97384}</em:id>
<em:minVersion>1.0</em:minVersion>
<em:maxVersion>3.6.*</em:maxVersion>
7. Change the maxVersion from 3.6 to 5.0 (should look like: <em:maxVersion>5.0.*</em:maxVersion>)
8. Click on File and Save
9. Close the text file
10. Close the extracted window
11. Change the auto_copy.zip file back to .xpi
12. Drag the auto_copy xpi file onto an open Firefox 5.0 window which will install it

Go to about:config and add a new Boolean.
extensions.checkCompatibility.5.0
Make the variable false.
Restart Firefox.
Enjoy an awesome working addon. Why isn't this in the standard build? It ought to be.

Very useful. Helps cut down on the select>copy>paste in search bar sequences.
