If I only used it for preparing birthday emails and holiday emails in advance and scheduling their delivery I would be pleased. But the newest version offers an opportunity to set a default delay in sending ANY email I write. This is not a feature of Thunderbird so having a facility to give me a chance to stop an email a moment or two after sending it (I made my default 2 minutes, I'm pretty slow in the morning to rethink my actions) is priceless.

Unmissable add-on for the send-button "trigger-happy" like myself ;)

I am using this extension to send email "just on time", on work hour. Stop sending mails @3 AM... ("No, I was not spending my time playing WoW) I am sending them at 8:12, taking my cup of coffee :) "Oh yes, I am already working for you"
I recommend it !

now my coworkers wont know that I was up at 4am working. I like that I can move the toolbar next to the regular send button and set the time without having to go through another dialogue.

Love this add-on, but the latest update removed the Send Now button from the dialog. I have all of our users setup to ONLY have the Send Later dialog as their only option for sending email and this has everyone confused and unsure how to send a message immediately.

This is a 5-star add-on, and I'll change my review from 1-star as soon as I can resolve this issue.

EDITED: Thanks for explaining the issue and offering it as an option! Keep up the great work. Review changed back to 5 stars!

EDITED: The information below is unfortunately incorrect. Please see the version notes for release 5.2.1 of the add-on for a complete explanation (it's really too long to explain here).

The release notes for version 5.1 say:

>>> In a further effort to reduce confusion about the “Put In Outbox” and “Send Now” buttons in the Send Later dialog, the “Put In Outbox” button is now only visible when the dialog is popped up using “File | Send Later” or Ctrl-Shift-Enter, and the “Send Now” button is now only visible when the “‘Send’ Does ‘Send Later'” preference is enabled and the dialog is popped up using “File | Send Now” or Ctrl-Enter.

Since release 5.1, I've heard from a number of people including you whose workflows depended on both buttons being present. This is yet another example of "no good deed goes unpunished" -- often when I make a change attempting to make the add-on work better for some people, I find out too late that it makes it work worse for others, and I unfortunately don't have enough beta testers to catch these situations before they go out to everyone.

Because of these workflows of which I was unaware, I just released version 5.2 with a preference you can enable if you want the "Send Now" and "Put in Outbox" buttons both to be displayed all the time. You'll get this release automatically when the addons.mozilla.org editors approve it, or you can download and install it from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/versions/5.2 , after which you can open the add-on preferences and check the box to bring the "Send Now" button back.

I have been using this little program for a number of years now and it enables me to send individual emails out to my customers rather than BCC copies or having our customers emails listed to everybody. Great little program, 10 out of 10!

This is a very useful add-on, in principle. But, I had to stop using it because of its incompatibility with Enigmail. Apparently this is a known bug, and I'm waiting for a fix. If it was fixed, I would give it five stars.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.0.1).

The incompatibility with Enigmail is not a bug in Send Later, it's a bug in Thunderbird, or more accurately, a limitation in Thunderbird's add-on integration framework. It doesn't seem fair to give Send Later a bad review because Thunderbird's framework isn't functional enough to allow Enigmail and Send Later to play nicely together without breaking the rules.

Having said that, the maintainers of Enigmail and I have worked together to find a way to "break the rules" collaboratively, and as a result, the next release of Send Later -- due out this week -- will be fully compatible with Enigmail.

I love this option and use it every day for 3 different mailing lists, My biggest issue is that you CANNOT edit the content of something after you have saved it. You must delete the whole thing and rewrite it. NO FUN when something is 5+ MB in size !

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.0.1).

If you double-click on a scheduled draft you can edit it just like any other saved draft and then reschedule it when you're done editing it.

Note that editing a draft removes its scheduled send automatically at the beginning of the edit, to prevent Thunderbird from sending the draft while you are in the process of editing it.

It simply sends emails later! When you click "send later" it pops up a dialogue with half a dozen preset options to choose from eg "send in 30 minutes" "send in 2 hours", or the option to specify the exact time (to the second!) you'd like the email sent. It relys on Thunderbird running at the moment the send is required, but it's not daft - if it misses a scheduled send, it simply sends your email at the first chance it gets, the next time Thunderbird is run. Great little add-on.

This addon has become my most useful one on Thunderbird. Sending delayed emails allows me to organize my flow according to different time zones in the world, or when I work in a train or airplane and I want the email to take off later without forgetting. A great app created with lot's of generosity.

A simple utility for sending messages at a predefined time. I don't use it often, but it always does what I want, as long as my computer hasn't gone to sleep.

Been using the Send Later function of Thunderbird for some time now and it has performed as expected. While I do not use it everyday, when I need it it has always worked when I have used it.

I usually write emails very early in the morning, but I don't want my customers to be aware of that. Send later is the perfect tool for that!. If you need to plan your email send policy, you need this :)
