Maybe I'm doing it wrong but, to me, the down-side to this add-on is the fact that you can't use it with different Wikis all at once. I'd like to be able to use it with fr.wikipedia without having to change the settings when I want to use it with en.wikipedia again...

Compared to similar add-ons, WikiLook has the best content (including photos), user interface display, ease of access, options within a word's definition (i.e. hyperlinks), and linking other subject-matter that relates to the word. The one thing that I like most about this add-on is how it uses javascript to allow you to preview "more" about the definition without redirecting you to another site. Instead, it just drops-in more information into the display box, all on the fly.

I like the convenience of it but as someone else said https would be better. I am putting it in my Apollo! Pack collection because of the convenience factor.

Doesn't have HTTPS support. so doesn't work if you have EFF's HTTPS Everywhere enabled.Otherwise pretty good.
QuickWiki looks better, though has less i18n features.

Even with two updates to FF 5, Wikilook works perfectly for me! I do have to right-click the highlighted word, but a minor step in the overall scheme of things. Love it! Four stars until the update. Then a full five stars from me.

WikiLook does not as yet work in Firefox 5 ... I will have to revert to Firefox 4 as I am now irretrievably wedded to the wonders of WikiLook and will not reinstall Firefox 5 until it supports WikiLook.
Keep on truckin ...

I have used this for quite a while now and when I am not on my Firefox, I forget that it isn't installed on every computer/browser and I get sad. :(
I use it daily and it saves a lot of time and needless clicking. If you ever go on a Wikipedia journey (you know, you look up 1 thing and end up looking up a word in that article which in turn links you to another), it's so nice to just hover and get a quick detail or definition.
The only gripe I have, and the reason I took off a star, is a lack of ability to customize the search. Specifically I wish that I could tell it to use Merriam Webster in lieu of Wiktionary. In its defense, it is called WikiLook and this is a somewhat minor complaint.
Overall, I love this add-on and recommend it.
WikiLook was created with sole purpose of promoting Wiktionary, a MUCH better dictionary them M-W or American Heritage. Wikipedia was added to gain some extra popularity and to compete with Answers add-on, again with a purpose of raising general public awareness of Wiktionary existence. Supporting any other dictionaries or non free encyclopedias definitely out of scope of the project. But source code is available and nothing prevents forks from popping up.

A great add-on, but there is one feature that I do not like: I use "Https everywhere" add-on and it directs Wikilook to search the secure Wiktionary. Obviously Wikilook does not support https, so no search results.
Which one to use? I prefer keeping "Https everywhere" on at all times. Unfortunately, this makes Wikilook pretty much useless for me. I hope that the https access feature will be added to this great add-on.

It would be nice if this add-on is updated to work in Firefox 4.0. Is there any similar working add-on?

I love this addon, and really hope you get support for the 4.0 RC. The addon has been broken for a bit, and frankly, I miss it. Fantastic addon all the same!

I spend most of my life on my computer. I'm a history buff and also technically inclined, and as a result I have a constant need to look up things. WikiLook has made that process instantaneous, and my online knowledge hunting easier than ever before. It's quite simply the most useful add-on I know of. If you're a knowledge junkie like me then this is a must-have tool.
