Excellent add-on - 5-stars!

While we wait for an update, a workaround is to select the URL in the address bar, then press Ctrl+Enter.

Make sure that "Ctrl+Enter in the Location Bar" is selected.

To check, go to:

Edit>>Preferences>>Tabbed Browsing

Well how about the merge! that is really good because I get lost sometime and I would like that if I have a lot of windows open. Get a little control while I start closing some window. Some time I have so many open that I get lost or forget what the heck i was doing. You know how it is. Some time we start to search for something and then we open another tab because we got side tracked by something that caught our eye. Next thing you know you have 5 or 6 windows open with like 10 tabs.

Frankly, I don't care if it can be done without an add-on -- I *like* being able to click a button to duplicate a tab. It's a basic user-interface rule that the fewer motions something requires, or the larger the target, or the less accurate the motion needs to be, the faster the interface can be used. Point+click is faster than Ctrl+point+click+drag.

I would really like to see this add-on updated, even if it's nothing more than a macro that executes the built-in tab duplication command in FF 3.5.

Thankyou Skyap—exactly the tip I was looking for.
Ctrl-click & drag is all you need.

you can do this without an add on - if you ctrl-click and drag a tab, you automatically get a duplicate tab with all the history!

This is one of the most fabulous add-ons ever, but, alas, it has not been updated to work with Firefox 3.5. I miss it every single day.

Tip: You can also get this feature from Tab Mix Plus.

Thanks for the update peterfh. Is there any way to make this the default behavior from Ctrl + T?

Please, let it be in the first page.

HEY, check out the new built-in drag/drop tabs functionality in Firefox 3.5+... Grab a tab & drag it around... Hey, even drag it OUT of the browser to it's own new window (NICE!).

HOW TO:
You may duplicate a tab by clicking on the tab you want & holding the CTRL key (CMD key on the Mac). Then, just drag and drop it to where you want the new tab to appear... It works across Firefox browser windows, too. (In my tests, it even kept the text of this message AS I was still entering it.)

As posted, hacking the .xpi file works like a charm! Thank you very much! Instructions copied here, AGAIN, to try to help others to get Duplicate Tab going on V3.5.2.

From mikedepetris ( http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=83785&start=165 ):
- download duplicatetab-1.0.2.xpi
- rename it to duplicatetab-1.0.2.xpi.zip or .rar
- extract install.rdf with a suitable archiver
- edit install.rdf
- change the line:
3.1a1pre
to
9.9
(this makes it good up to FireFox 9.9)
- save install.rdf and repack it in duplicatetab-1.0.2.xpi.zip
- rename it to duplicatetab-1.0.2whatever.xpi
- open the .xpi file and install the extension
- play :)

To get extension to work in Firefox 3.5, see forum post by mikedepetris (dated July 10th, 2009) at: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=83785&start=165

(referring to previous comment by T. H. on September 4, 2009) Tab Mix Plus is heavy and clunky compared to this light, straight-forward extension. I tried it and it kind of does the same thing as this (with a lot of tweaking), but it "adds" all sorts of "features" that I don't want/need, and it alters the appearance of tabs (i.e. favicon on iconised tabs are no longer centred).
I really hope Duplicate Tab will be updated to make it compatible with ver 3.5 and up.

won't you guys just go download Tab Mix Plus. It has this feature along w/ tons of other tab options.

My experience with Firefox 3.5.2 on the Mac:

Alt+Drag works! It duplicates the tab along with its history.

Ctrl+Drag doesn't work (instead it simply drags the tab to the new location).

From the address bar, neither Alt+Enter nor Ctrl+Enter work. Alt+Enter duplicates the current page to a new tab (but without the history), whereas Ctrl+Enter simply reloads the page.

Judging from the comments I'm not alone in really missing "Duplicate Tab" since upgrading to 3.5 . . .

I think the reason that's it's not updated because Firefox now has this functionality build-in.

Ctrl+Drag a tab or press Alt+Enter in the addressbar to duplicate the tab.

Cheers.

I've been waiting for this addon since the launch of Firefox 3. Is it really so difficult to make it compatible with F3?
