How to manually update to use with versions above TB 145:
The "manifest.json" file is what prevents TB from loading the extension after version 145.

Extract the files in the .xpi file (it is just a ZIP file, so 7zip or any other zip file tool will work).
Edit the file "manifest.json". Replace the "145" with "154" in the line that says: "strict_max_version": "145.*".

You could also bump it up to a higher value, e.g. 160, if you don't think the Thunderbird team will make changes that will break the extension.

Then use your ZIP file tool to recreate the XPI file with the same name with the ".xpi" extension.
Open Thunderbird, delete the old addon, and then add your new XPI extension file. Close and relaunch Thunderbird, and you are back in business.

I can confirm it works fine with versions up to 154.0 ("Meadow").

Install version 2.2.4 from this link:
https://static.getforecastfox.com/downloads/forecastfox-latest.xpi

Though unless you've moved it from the add-on bar, it won't appear unless you also install this addon:

detinyit.com domain has expired as of 08/27/2010.
So this add-on is useless at this point.
