Ein super Tool für das Handling mit mbox-Dateien und das erstellen von einfachen geplanten Thunderbird-Backups.

Excellent!
Essential tool for offline archiving & classifying 10,000s of easily-accessible historic e-mails.
Suggestion: Add a "Cancel current operation" option in the menu! I've just launched an export of 10,000s of mails & realized suddenly it's the wrong folder, but can't stop it.
Also "Pause/Continue current operation" would allow us to do other work in-between exports.

Hi Christopher, I just discovered this addon but I miss a functional combination of its great possibilities: export all messages of a folder and its subfolders (hierarchical) in *.eml format. It would be a great thing if you could add this feature.
Best regards and much thanks!
Thanks for the review!
I actually have this as a possible enhancement. You can track it here:
https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues/11
This is a sensible addition I just have to try and find the time after all the bugs coming in!

This is a robust and useful tool - I've been able to import mac emails, M$ outlook emails, contacts, calendars, notes and tasks. And it is free!

This is an excellent add-on for Thunderbird. Quick, easy to use, and effective. The ability to save multiple emails to PDF files directly from Thunderbird save time.
When exporting to PDF I have ImportExportTools attach the date to help me catalog the emails.
It would be helpful if there is a customization for the format of the date.
As an example, instead of YYYMMDD it would be helpful to have a space so the date displays as YYYY MM DD to make it easier to read.
Otherwise, a terrific add-on.
Thank you.
Jeffrey
Thanks and HappyNewYear!
Actually I also have a request for iso format, you can see the issue post here
https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues/58
I can probably add this third option at the same time.

Hello together.
I export my complete Gmail account for offline usage and backup. I test some MBOX Viewer programms and don't like most of them. As I've heart that TB (68.3.1) can work with MBOX, I was really exited but now I can't load the MBOX file in, maybe someone can help: If I click on MBOX import, nothing happens. I can't choose files or sth else. Will be great if you have an idea, how to solve this problem.
Thanks for the review, sorry for the confusion!
I am trying to find time to make a user guide which never existed with the
original extension one I took it over. Currently I have a set of issues
in the repository that will ultimately make up to guide. I have one
For the menus and one the basics of mbox import.
You can also ask questions in the repository by creating an issue.

Hopefully this gets you going, if not post a question.

Won't install under the TB version I use currently - 72.0b2. It doesn't have a way to install addons from *.xpi files
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (4.0.4) del componente aggiuntivo.milesrf
Thanks for the review, happy new year!
Right now 4.0.4 is only meant to be compatible with 60-69 current releases (shown in the header)
I am currently still working on various issues for 68.
72 is beta leading up to 78 ESR. That will require major changes.

Very glad this extension is continuing. However, I can't seem to find a way to export to .CSV and have the message come as plain text instead of HTML. I used to use this in a workflow and now cannot find out how to repeat the export format i used to use.

Thanks for the review. Fortunately I already have a beta for this issue. If you wish you can download the beta file.
See the prior issue, the beta pointer is at the end.

Hello,
obviously I misunderstood.
The point was that I am not sure what to choose because of the many options. Here less would be more and a help would be necessary.
Up to now I secure my Thunderbird with the old MozBackup, unfortunately this is not being developed any further and seems to have problems with the IMAP accounts that are common today, so that sometimes curious problems occur when importing to the other PC. ImportExportTools NG should be similarly easy to use.
PS: exporting whole folders in various formats is a very useful option.
Conrad
I am hoping to get a basic user guide out before too long given the many options you refer to. If you are looking to do something similar to MBackup then probably the most appropriate use would be to export your profile. That option is available when you choose IETNG from the tools menu. As far as exporting whole folders, you can choose the context menu and choose the various export options.
I am also going to comment on the options in the overview.

Mac OS 10.13.6 / Export im PDF-Format funtioniert nicht:
Wegen eines Fehlers in Thunderbird ist diese Funktion bei diesem Betriebssystem nicht verfügbar.
happy New Year's, sorry for the delayed response.
Currently there is a Thunderbird bug regarding PDF output on OS X. The original as well as NG disable PDF output for that reason on OS X. I am aware of the problem but no solution yet, stay posted.

New to Thunderbird 68 and the ImportExportNG Add On as well. Really like the tool. I'm migrating from WLM. Like others have reported, I tried a wholesale import of my WLM folders but only the folders came across, none of the messages were imported. I tried again using a single folder with same results. Folder created but no emails. Thankfully, I have very few folders so I was able to export and then import folder-by-folder. That worked flawlessly. So far, I'm extremely pleased with the more stable operation and additional features.

Thanks for the nice review. I am still trying to figure out what's going on with some of the imports with WLM. There seems to be sub mixed results that make the analysis harder. If I am understanding your post clearly, it appears that when WLM exports warns on one folder you have an issue. Another user reported problem with some of the metadata files that are used by Thunderbird but appear to be crossing a problem. Sorry I don't have an answer yet but please track within the repository. If I find something I want you people to confirm the fix.
Stay tuned!

The add-on is great.
One thing does not work for me though: If I want to export individual emails via "Search & Export" -> then enter search term, select the desired emails from the list and then click on "Selected" then on Export, the destination folder window will open, but the emails are not exported.
If I select "all" and then "export", the destination folder window opens and it works / exports.
What is the reason for this / programming error?
D
Thanks for the review, sorry for the issue !
I just did a quick test on 68.3.1
I can reproduce the problem as you stated.
I am going to open an issue in the repository.
there are several statements I am looking at before I do the next Release.
This is an area of subcode that I am not that familiar with
so some investigations in order. you can track the issue in Ghub

Hello and thanks for creating this tool. I used it to import group messages from a yahoo group site. One problem was that NG menu is not located under the tools menu at all. However, I did find it by right-clicking on Local Folders icon. Other than that it worked great! Windows 10 and Thunderbird 68.3.0 (32-bit)

Thanks for the review!
I just retested on Windows10/TB68.3 and I get all the menus.
The extension installs its menus at the bottom of the tools menu and the extension options from the add-on options menu as well as the folder menus you see.
Can you copy the entire DebugLog from startup?
Also if it's still a problem it would be good to post this in the repository:
https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues
We can go back-and-forth more appropriately there

The add-on is really useful for our IT team. Our company used Windows Live Mail 2012 on more than 1000 PCs and this tool makes the migration of all messages from WLM to Thunderbird easy. It is great that it preserves the directory structure. It works stable and fast. For example we imported about 100 000 messages on normal hard drive for less than an hour.
I write this small off-topic hint for exporting contacts because I believe that there are more users like me who will migrate from WLM to MTB.
Export all contact in VCF files. Then use command prompt and use the command "copy *.vcf all.vcf" to combine all files in single vcf file which can be imported in TB address book with a few clicks.
Nikolay
Thank you for the very nice review!
Your use case is a great example of Thunderbird in the enterprise. Would you be interested in communicating with community development manager regarding enterprise use needs? Direct feedback from users like yourself is critical for moving Thunderbird forward.

I'm not getting an importexporttools ng submenu under tools, just stock "import" and only giving"Becky's internet email" (wtf?) and Outlook as options, no mbox. Tried reinstalling addon, no joy. TB 68 on W10. So not useful for me ATM.
Just as a follow up, I was able to open the gmail-exported mbox by pointing the storage location for 'local folders' at it. Then it just appeared there, I clicked on it, and now it's indexing.
Not sure what, if any role the addon played in this (?).
Maybe it will help with exports.
David
Thanks and sorry for the issues.
From your description it seems like either there was an installation problem or some preferences error resulting in the menus not being installed. Can you open the developer counsel and copy the entire output?
Then t's really best we track this in the repository issues:
https://github.com/thundernest/import-export-tools-ng/issues
Christopher
Update:
Placing the file in a local folder "auto included" the mbox file,
the extension did not to anything for that.
It still sounds like you have an installation problem since you do not see the menus. can you capture the debug console?
