When Firefox autofill fails QuickPasswords to the rescue!

Without having the ability to export/import passwords, this isn't much of a password "manager"
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (3.1.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo... you are not helping the users or developer by asking for features by way of down voting. You only manage that less people use it and so less interest = less development. Here is the official place for feature requests is here:
http://quickpasswords.mozdev.org/bugs.html
The thing with importing is that it is "iffy" because it needs concrete specs on what happens
1. if the login already exists (should it just overwrite the password? prompt?)
2. if the field names have changed. This happens more often than you think, the password manager doesn't store the date so we do not know whether this is newer or older.
So please suggest at the link above for a proper feature management.

Really a great addon

adding ability to change username/password field would be great...
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (3.1.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo.... the Saved Password Editor Addon does this very well and it works perfectly with QuickPasswords (I did not want to compete with it). However we have 2 features for changing existing information - 1. when logging in the field names can be automatically corrected - 2. you can change stored passwords with "unified Password change" button = the button with the red pencil.
thanks for the 5 stars! :-)

Edit option is missing ? How do I get it ?
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (3.1.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo. Please use the Saved Password Editor Addon for this. QuickPasswords does not want to replicate the functionality of this excellent Addon, and both Addons work perfectly together.
It is mentioned at the bottom of About this Addon: "If you work a lot with passwords (who doesn't?) be sure to check out the awesome Saved Password Editor it is quite a good addition and fully compatible with QuickPasswords."
I also have described it in my support pages, where you can also get direct support via the mail link at the bottom of the page: http://quickpasswords.mozdev.org/index.html#edit_password

I rely on this program so much that I forget it is not an integral part of FF. It has saved me much time and frustration. It is small, quick, and useful.

The addon is great. The enhancement of existing password manager is great too. By the way, is this addon secure or will it transfer any data to your server? I tried google but found no site mentioning nor reviewing your addon. This is the only part that I am worried. Thanks
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.9.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo.Yes it is secure - it doesn't do any communication with the "outside world". the only way you get passwords over back and forth is via the built in "Sync" mechanism of Firefox, and AFAIK it uses Mozilla servers and encrypts the information.
BTW, Addons published AMO must give a privacy statement if they transmit any user data, they are very strict about this. QuickPasswords simply works with the passwords stored on your local machine and inserts them to pages / clipboard.
One thing QuickPasswords doesn't do is display passwords on the screen (as I find this counterproductive), I leave that to other addons. For more control over your passwords, I recommend also installing "Saved Password Editor".

Great addon
if u stored alot same domain username/password, and want to retrieve from FF, u need remember the username
after installed QuickPasswords and Saved Password Editor, u can select which login info to use
QuickPasswords and Saved Password Editor both is very good idea addon and MUST buildin FF
last things is can u change the auto-login function to auto open the domain and fillin the login info in a new tab, if can complety auto login the target domain would be great =)
It is a little tricky - the password manager usually only stores the domain (Host) and not the exact login page. Also, when you are on a domain, you usually have to click on some other page elements in order to get a login prompt and this is not easy to automate as it is completely up to the developer of each web site how this works. It can also set up cookies and session data which is hard to control in an automated manner.
I could certainly add a "go to domain" function, but it wouldn't necessary open the right page (your login page), so it might not be as useful as you would wish for. to discuss in detail, please create an official feature request here:

Terrific. Makes logging on much simpler that other addons.

Great tool and allows complex PW's for banking and investment sites. I would only ask serious encryption is added to the database containing the PW's in the event the computer is compromised or hacker gains access to files. Darren-Chaker
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.8.1-signed) del componente aggiuntivo.QuickPasswords uses Firefox's built in password store (and has all the advantages of that including Sync), encyrption used is Triple-DES. You can add better security by using Firefox options > security > change master password and choosing a secure one here, and never install addons / plugins from sources you do not know and trust. Ideally you should only install Addons from addons.mozilla.org to be safe.

Most useful addon for me!! Really convenient to use and serves the purpose completely.
However there is one thing, I would like to point out. This utilizes Mozilla's Saved Password utility for saving the passwords and therefore, has proper checks in place but one. The button, allowing the user to copy the password, is a weakness that can be exploited. I say this because, the same can then be pasted in any field thereby revealing it. And the username is always visible in Saved Password utility anyhow.
All this, while the master password is enabled.
The addon already has the functionality to copy the credentials in context menu and so the copy button could be done away with.
...Thanks for the feedback. I know that once you get into the password manager window there are no additional checks, and I thought long and hard about whether they should be introduced - like they are when the user clicks on the [Show Passwords] button.
IMO asking for the Master Password just _once_ is sufficient; I want to avoid for the user having to do any additional clicks or actions. Instead in 2.7 I have added a "Lock" icon to the password manager - if you plan on leaving your browser open unattended, simply click it to snap the lock shut before you close the manager.
The password manager will then ask for the master password next time you use QuickPasswords or do any password related operation. Here is the related feature request page at Bugzilla:

QuickPasswords and Saved Password Editor together are all what is needed (at least for me) for convenient password handling.

phil, this add-on seems to do what it's supposed to (for me and everyone else apparently). You seem to be confused... perhaps you were looking for the Saved Password Editor add-on? (The toolbar buttons for each add-on have a certain similarity, so maybe that's what has you confused?)
The only problem I've encountered with this add-on is the issue with the "standard" size (as in, not checking 'Use small icons' in toolbar customization panel) button being so large that it stretches the tool bar (and the other Fx buttons) vertically--I mean, the 'Back' button is no longer round (looks really weird) with this on the nav bar (which is the "big" bar). That's why only 4 stars... till it gets fixed. Even so, I might have given 5 if the dev hadn't said "that's not a bug" [sorry, yes it is]. The newer versions of Firefox have different standard button/icon sizes than the previous versions, so that needs to be worked on here.
UPDATE: OK, 1.9 takes care of the too large button/icon. Coolness. Thanks. 5 stars it is!
thanks for the 5 stars! :)
OK, so now that this is fixed, lets move on to new features... Eventually I will have to come up with an even easier way of using it, something like an on page control, but that is going to take some time. In the meantime, you can suggest new features here:

Phil's review went like this:
(rated 1 out of 5 stars)
There are NO instructions for loading websites into this program. It "found" a user/pw for only one site. This one. and that was wrong. IN Getting Started, he says:"Obviously this will only be useful if you have already stored passwords in the password manager." I'd say it's EQUALLY OBVIOUS that you have to tell us how. I rate this as JUNK
====================
Reacting to this review I added the following section to my post-installation instructions:
http://quickpasswords.mozdev.org/installation.html#whatsThePasswordManager
..., so hopefully this also going to be helpful for people new to the concept of storing Passwords in Firefox.
====================
thanks for using QuickPasswords!

There are sites where Firefox is unable to stick your logons, with QuickPasswords it will stick them there as well.
There are sites where Firefox is unable to remember your logons, with other great extension 'Saved Password Editor' it will remember there as well.
Both add-ons are very nicely thought and done, they are complementary.
EDITed : 'Password Editor' was, is of course 'Saved Password Editor'
