Not compatible with Firefox 3.6.3 !!

The blurb says this is compatible with 3.6.x, but 3.6.x says it isn't.
It works in 3.6.x until you restart the computer, then it fails. Duh.

Found this very useful, would be nice if there was an added addition to it where you could save added words to a database file to back up and restore words that have been added just encase people had to reinstall Firefox for whatever reason.
But anyway 5 stars from me.

This is great. I wasn't able to use the spell checker on my email until I installed this. It automatically highlights spelling mistakes in red and with the right click of my mouse, produces a list of correct spellings, just like on Word for example. A big thumbs up and very easy to use!

This dictionary works perfectly with Firefox 3.6.2 as it did with previous versions but if it helps anybody, it disables itself when the computer is booted. I hibernate mine except when it is really necessary to reboot it (such as after an update or error). Hibernation is quicker to restart too. Hope they find a proper fix soon because it is very annoying.

I get...
British English Dictionary 1.19 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Thunderbird 3.0.3.
Is there one that is compatible?

I'm also having the same problem with this add-on disabling every day with compatibility. Update it and it works again...until the next day. Occurs on both Thunderbird 3.0.3 and Firefox 3.6. The 'words.xpi' tip makes no difference.

I love this addon but I have one issue which I would love to see updated ...
On my laptop keyboard (though suspect it is a default key on almost every other keyboard); I have a key which acts as a 'right click drop down / properties menu' (assuming you have your mouse configured for use for a right handed person).
When I press this button on a word within my email in TB3.0.2 when composing a message, I do not get the menu I expect (the normal dictionary menu). I get the following options: Undo, Paste, Paste without Formatting, Paste as Quotation and finally Select All.
However if I right click using the mouse I get the dictionary options for the word, including an option to add it to dictionary if I feel it is spelt correctly.
It would be great if the keyboard key would be able to bring up the same menu options as the right click function does when using the mouse instead.
Thanks in advanced if this can be achieved,
Peter S
PS: The FF version I have works. So why not in TB3.0.2?

Small tip for people who are having problems while installing:
Rename your downloaded file to "words.xpi" and try to install it again. This might help you when not try this:

I am using Thunderbird V3.0.1 and cannot get the dictionary to install.
Is it me? I'm using Windows 7 so maybe I'm pushing my luck.

I was having trouble with Thunderbird 3 not being compatible with this addin. I had to amend the INSTALL.RDF file in the XPI (I opened it as a ZIP file, which it essentially is). I went to the string {3550f703-e582-4d05-9a08-453d09bdfdc6} and in the following maxVersion tag changed the version to 4.0a1 (to give myself some future proofing!). I then installed again successfully. (Thanks to osian78 on http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/ for this advice)

Goes through install process but then in "Add-ons" it tells me it is incompatible with Thunderbird 2. I can't find a British UK English dictionary other than this, is this the only candidate?

Excellent dictionary! Works perfectly in SeaMonkey 2.0.2 and Firefox 3.6. I think a lot of folks have problems because they do not select the dictionary to be in use, they expect it to just change on its own.
@Ged Ridgway - I agree

@magicaxeman: you need to switch to using this dictionary after you install the add-on. Right-click an underlined word (like recognise in your case) and then under "Languages", select "English / United Kingdom".
By the way, this issue is actually arguably more complicated than MS Word etc. makes people think. While American English nearly always uses Z, British English stipulates "analyse" and not "analyze" but actually recommends "recognize" (with "recognise" as an accepted alternative, but not the first entry in the OED, which must surely be the authority on British English).
