It's me again. Version 0.4 works well. I really like the step to use the same folder as the other applications, bu it seems like it is not working.
If I can help you in any way, let me know.

Thanks for this great work. But it stopped working for me. Version 0.6 and FF 3.5.9
I figured out, that this Addon has changed its storage format of the data. insted of saving just the username and the password it now stores also the url and the field names. So all old passwords aren't working anymore. This is very bad, because i have to open kwalltet everytime to search for the password and retype and resave them.
Something went wrong i think. For this reason, this addon is completly disproductiv for me right now. So i have to give it one star only. But because it is working with the new typed passwords, i will give it 3 stars. If it would user or convert the passwords saved before, it would get all 5 stars!
This version uses 3 different folders to store passwords, because it tries to keep as much compatibility as possible with native apps. Prior to version 0.6, this add-on just uses it's own Folder to store passwords.
The Firefox folder format for version 0.6 is compatible with earlier versions of this add-on. So, you shouldn't need to export/import from older versions.
New passwords are stored either in the "Form Data" or "Passwords" folder depending on the type of password. Passwords from these folders are also read by Dolphin and friends. But both these folders have their limitations. So, when the new password does not fit, it is stored in the Firefox folder.
And last, when Firefox finds a password in the Firefox folder, it tries to move it to the other folders, in order to make them compatible with Dolphin. So, seeing that the Firefox folder decreases it size is a sign that a password have been made compatible (it should be in one of the other folders).
Please check if it is actually bad behavior (like forgetting passwords), because it should be a bug! please, let me know.

Zotero does not work either with 0.6, don't know why, but opening a new browser and automaticlly trying to sync zotero deletes the zotero password entry in kwallet...

0.6 does not store the xmarks pin and password correctly. One keeps overwriting the other.

I'm using KDE 4.4.1 with FF 3.6.3. This extension keeps crashing. Unfortunately it doesn't work well with Xmarks either - it keeps deleting all my passwords

Lost all my passwords in upgrade, so make sure you save your wallet each time you see an upgrade.
Also this latest version 0.6 kills username and password being issued to firefox's Net Usage plug-in. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/225.
A part form those problems this project is a great initiative.

Fantastic!
Great idea, makes my day-to-day work a lot easier.
Version 0.6 is broken, it doesn't retrieve stored passwords at all, and the Firefox "remember password?" popdown dialog doesn't disappear after you press Remember.
Version 0.5 works great! Use that instead.
Also, as someone else said, remember to backup your kwallet file. Ubuntu upgrades have often completely nuked my kwallet file from ~/.kde{,3,4}. Just email yourself the encrypted ~/.kde/share/apps/kwallet/kdewallet.kwl file, or copy it to somewhere safe.

Everyone should back up their wallet immediately.

Latest version deleted almost all my Firefox passwords. To avoid deletion I had to close the wallet, then restore a backup than open the wallet again. Nevertheless, it doesn't work. I had to go back to version 0.4. I'm running Firefox 3.6.4 64bit Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 beta 2.

This is one of the best add-ons I use. Thanks for the great work and for keeping it updated.

Hi there,
Awesome work. Would it be possible for this add-on to be able to request open a wallet once it has been closed? At the present time firefox has to be restarted in order to again access the stored passwords.
Thank you for your hard work, definitely my favorite add-on for firefox - i've been eagerly awaiting something like this for many many years.
Cheers

Why do I get incompatible build-type Linux_ppc-gcc3? Is that precompiled binary and doesn't fit my PowerPC Linux?
Could you please provide a work-around? I would really appreciate integrating the firefox browser into KDE world where all my passwords are stored.
I am sorry Paolo, this extension has a binary library. I've compiled it for x86-32 and x86-64.
I haven't got a ppc to compile for it.
You can download the source code and compile it yourself. This software is open source

Hi,
This is a great add-on. The only problem is with the wallet that the add-on uses. KWallet supports create a default wallet (for network passwords) and a local wallet (for local password). I guess konqueror uses the default wallet to store the password but this add-on uses the local one. This is a problem because I have many computers. In each one I use a private and different local wallet but the default wallet is synchronized between them with unison.
I think, this add-on should use the default wallet or have an option to select the desired wallet.
Thank you for this great work.
Thanks for the suggestion, I will add support for multiple wallets, by letting you choose which one to use.
But, are you sure this is what is happening to you? because, as in version 0.4 (the only published version), there is no konqueror support. There is partial support in version 0.5 (unpublished). I am working on full support for the next version.
Anyway, choosing the right wallet is a great idea. I will add this to the TODO

This is a really great tool, thanks!
After installing, Firefox saves all passwords to kwallet flawlessly. What has happend to my old internal database? Have these passwords been deleted or do have I to do this manually?
The internal database is still there, you may access it by disabling (or removing) this extension.
You may delete the internal database if you want, I recommend that you first back it up, and migrate the info to kwallet.
Thank you

I think, that many KDE users waited for such an add-on for a long time. But most of then will expect, that the passwords are not only stored at kwallet but may be shared with KDE applications.
For myself I've expected to use the passwords stored with konqueror, because I'm using kwallet with konqueror for years.
Because of this, I've patched your source to have at least read access to most passwords at the Form Data section (if the user name was stored either as "username" or "name" and the password as "password" or "pass"). I do not need to write pairs at Form Data within firefox, because I want to migrate from konqueror to firefox only.
I've tried to leave a message with the patch at your homepage, but don't know, if this was successfull.
I like this add-on very much! Thanks!
Thanks!,
As you may have guess I started trying to use the same repo as konqueror (Form Data) but it has a problem, you can not store more than one password for the same URL.
So I change to another folder with my own format.
But I will see if I can do something about it.
Thanks again
