Great extension, but not working with latest version of Thunderbird. I don't want filter emails by copying sender address to filter bar.

Could still work (just editing max version).
However it doesn’t *search* for sender but *filters* for sender. So the results come from current directory only. You can copy sender address to filter bar for the same result.

This addon is exactly what I was looking for a long time.
One suggestion: add search by sender's domain, also. Very often I want to search mails from all contacts from the same company/domain, and this would be very helpful.

This extension enables a feature which I genuinely thought would have been incorporated into Thunderbird by default. After several minutes of searching I was unable to find any way of displaying emails from a particular contact. Thankfully this extension does everything that I need.
The one critique I have would be the lack of easy access to filtering by contact via the quick filter bar, rather than shoving the options into Thunderbird's already huge context menu.
More often than not, the simplest extensions are the most useful. 5/5

Like the idea. Is it possible to add "search by mail ID" and other more exact search?
Also hope that the search can be done on all folders within the account as an option. Thanks.

This is cool, but would cool if was easier to perform search.
ie the Options on the Context menu are a long way down.
It may be way impossible to do, but the best option would be to have a icon-button to the left of the From and Subject fields (and maybe others) and this performs auto-search on that field and value.

Great...thank you. I just updated to 3.1 from 2.x and miss not being able to search for a sender or subject. This is great help. I finally learned in conjunction with this that the "Filter messages by: Sender Recipients Subject Body" are buttons that are either on or off (3.11). They were all on by default and was getting way too many hits when using this add-on. Now that I am educated and just have "Sender" or "Subject" highlighted this is really great. It would be great if this would de-activate the inappropriate filters too when you click it. I find I have to click the subject or sender filter again to get the proper results ....but I can live with that.

Amazing, this extension should be default in Thunderbird...
Is it possibile to add a "Toolbar button" to make it more fast access.

It extension permit me to clean my big email account, just point the sender, click with the rigth mouse button and choose Search for this sender (of for this subject). Now the filter is active and I can cancel/move my selected message. Very fast.
I agree with another comment that the further step is add Search the same recipient.

Would it be possible to enrich it with a "Search for this recipient"? It would be useful in the "Sent messages" folder.
