It works again, but you must enable cookies in Thunderbird, not your browser, as the stupid popup window tells you. Tools>Options>Privacy>Accept Cookies......

This is a great plugin. I have been using it for over 5 years. As of last week unable to authenticate to new calendars. I tried the cookie setting but not working. Something change with either Thunderbird or Goggle. Please advise on possible fix. Let me know if you need any additional info to help.

Necessary but it is a pain to have to log in every time I open my windows desktop computer.. especially as it takes three distinct steps and the accept button is not visible and the window not resizable. Tab key works most of the time but not always.. plus I get two emails on my phone and computer to tell me I have logged.. I know that.. and it has been a pain doing it! And I have enabled cookies but not improvement.

Could you try unsubscribing from all Google Calendars and then setting them up again? Normally it should work without issues. Please note that re-subscribing may take a while with large calendars since a full sync needs to happen on the first refresh.

Great extension, but now only authenticates with Google correctly if you have cookies enabled.

Thunderbird/Google/Addon changed something, so now you need to change Options / Privacy / "Accept Cookies from sites" to ticked.

("Keep cookies until I close Thunderbird" will work).

Essential addon if you need to work with Google calendars.

Thunderbird changed some cookie settings and broke this plugin. It's less on the developer (who did a great job writing it) and more on the user to fix their settings like he suggested a few times. The other review is spot on, and my new version works after I add the cookie exception.

Anyone having problems with authentication (oauth) check your cookie settings and exceptions. Worked great for me (thanks again).

If you have authentication issues, enable cookies in the preferences. It worked for me.

I am having similar authentication issues as others. I'm repeatedly being asked to sign in to Provider, however, the process cannot be completed because the hyperlinks aren't working. The 'allow' and 'deny' buttons are greyed out and inaccessible. In the same window, the links to 'Provider for Google calendar' and 'Account Permissions' are not greyed out but clicking gets null results. Double clicking these links partly closes Thunderbird, i.e., the program is still open in task manager but the icon has disappeared and Thunderbird can't be accessed unless I close in task manager and re-launch.

I'm using Thunderbird 45.2.0 Win 8.1 and Avast Free Antivirus and I realize this behavior (inactive links) may not due to the add-on.

I have tried to authenticate after disabling the antivirus, but this doesn't help. I've checked and there are no Firewall issues, and other links such as email, work fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Lightning and Provider many times.

I have checked the config editor and there are duplicate registry keys listed for Google calendar. I don't know which ones I should remove, if any.

By this point I would be happy to settle for repeated login prompting if I could at least follow through with authentication and access my calendar. Perhaps other Thunderbird users have resolved their own hyperlink issues. Could you shed some light on any of this?

On opening it now requires to log-in into your Google account. After having logged in, you need anyway to keep that window open, or your connection will be cut off. In that case, I think the only solution is to close and re-open Thunderbird.
It's a good add-on, anyway.

I'd be interested to hear more about this via support. The login window should close itself after log in and it should be working then

This is a great app but as per the previous review the autheticaion has broken in the recent update so nothing is working. Tried reverting to V 2.7 problem remains will try V 1.0.4

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.1).

We've solved this via email, it was a cookies issue. I'll look into the cookie exceptions code to handle the case where cookies are disabled in the preferences.

Sometimes it crash the Thunderbird and do full sync every time.
Full sync is significally slow, thunderbird becomes unresponsive.
calendar.threading.latency helps. But TB still CRASHES a lot.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

Please try changing calendar.threading.latency to 90 in the advanced config editor (Preferences > Advanced > General > Config Editor). Let me know if it works!

Works well and is quite useful. I have been using the add-on with 4 calendars for some time. However, I tried adding 3 more calendars today and it caused Thunderbird to hang. Only way Thunderbird recovers is by force quitting, starting in safe mode, removing those calendars and restarting.

I'm over-all pleased with the provider for Google calendar.
Problems I am having is with the sync and it is the latest version and the reminders from my calendar cannot be dismissed.

It is a nice add-on that helps me to synchronize several google calendars to thunderbird.
There is only one (quite big) problem: it stops synchronizing the newest events when a calendar consists of more than 2000 entries.

I had the same problem as the last couple of reviewers, the upgrade to Thunderbird 45 caused all of my Google calendars to no longer connect at all. After a little investigation I noticed that this plugin has not been automatically updating, it was still on version 1.0.2 I think. So after manually updating this plugin to version 2.7 and restarting Thunderbird, all my Google calendars are back and everything works properly. Hopefully this will help someone else with the same issue.

Once I realised that appointments were being set in the "Home" calendar by default, and that this was not what I needed, it all worked smoothly.

When setting an appointment, in the event dialogue there is a "Calendar" drop-down where you choose the calendar in which you want the event to be recorded. I was not paying attention to this; it was set by default to Home, and was therefore not being sent to my Google calendar. This caused me some frustration as I initially thought there was a fault with the synchronisation because the events were not appearing in Google but I then realised there was nothing to sync as I was actually setting them on the local Lightning "Home" calendar only.

For my purposes, I have deleted the "Home" calendar altogether so now all events will at least be recorded in one of my Google calendars if I forget to select one. This works fine for me and I now have an integrated calendar in which I can view and manage my personal as well as my business appointments.

Excellent Add-on. Makes Lightning work with Google Calendar.

There seems to be a limitation when setting the Sync Refresh Rate. It cannot be set any faster than once every 30 minutes.

I don't think this is a limitation of Lightning. Seems like it may be a limitation of what the Provider will permit.

Is that correct? Is there some way to customize this?

Many thanks

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

Unfortunately this is hard to change. The limitation is in place so I don't hit the API call limit. I have already reduced the number of requests as far as possible, but there are a lot of users and they make a lot of requests :)

Great plug-in, very useful.
I do struggle with what seems to be a bug though: Frequently I get a modal window complaining "This item has recently been changed on the server. Submitting your changes will overwrite the changes made on the server". I am offered to submit or discard my changes, but regardless of my choice the error persists. Is anybody else experiencing this?
