This extension has been excellent for me, restoring functionality that was removed from Thunderbird not long after it was forked from the Mozilla Suite.

Although it is still supported by other clients such as Fossamail, it no longer works in more up-to-date clients like Thunder bird.

Please update this awesome extension! I can't switch to TB from Fossamail until it's updated!

Dear developer, thanks for this add-on. It is so much convenient! I loved it! Unfortunately after to Thunderbird 45.1.0 it is not compatible any more. I am so sad for this. If you do un upgrade, it would be so cool! Great job! Thanks! :)

When Mozilla integrated this add-on in Thunderbird, they removed the ability to set things so that a folder's unread count is limited to that folder only, and not all of its subfolders. Fortunately, you can change this behavior in the preference editor. Simply change "mail.folderpane.sumSubfolders" to false, restart TB, and all will be well again.

That is, until they rip out that option, too.

After many years of enjoying this Add-On Mozilla has finally decided to include it--or at least the exact same functionality--into the heart of TB 38.x.

Many thanks to Joey Minta and Standard8 for the years of enjoyment!

... the same bullshit. THEY do a new version excluding the function of "old" addons. This fuck is why I hate Mozilla products ... because all the addon'er have to do work. And some give up ...

But this time ... they could have written, that the addon is no longer necessary. So thx for it until now.

I liked Extra Folder Columns better than the latest built-in version in Thunderbird. Specifically, I do not want to see how many e-mails are in directories or sub-directories, but only in the folders.

With the update to TB38, the addon is no longer needed, as the columns can be enabled in: View => Layout => Folder Pane Columns.

Thanks for making this add on

...On an old version of Thunderbird. So please update this add-on. It's probably an easy fix anyway.

Please update this addon for compatibility with current TH 38.2.

Has served me well up to Thunderbird 38, where the functionality is built in:

• Expanded Folder Pane columns in New in Thunderbird 38.0 support article:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-thunderbird-38#w_expanded-folder-pane-columns
• “Show expanded columns in folder pane” in release notes:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/38.0.1/releasenotes/
• Bug 464973 in Bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464973

Just check View → Layout → Folder Pane Columns.

Awesome add-on ... and it turns out the "View => Layout => Folder Pane Columns" option/setting was greyed out as I neglected to remove Extra Folder Columns extension. All works well again. :-)

This addon is fantastic, I've been using it for years.

With the update to TB38, the addon is no longer needed, as the columns can be enabled in: View => Layout => Folder Pane Columns.

Thanks to the dev for making this addon, it was amazingly useful til now!

Extra Folder Columns is built in now, but in order to enable it, you must modify the key using the config editor. Go to Preferences/Advanced and select with config editor. Search for : mail.folderpane.showColumns
By default, the value is set to "false". Set the value to "true" (toggle on "false"). Restart Thunderbird. You will find the icon for the extra columns is in the right upper corner of the map panel (select unread/total/size).

When updating T-bird I got this message: "Not available for Thunderbird 38.2.0" I have many mailboxes and archive folders. For overview I need to see by a glance how many emails there are, read and not read, in each mailbox and folder. This addon has shown to be exactly what I need and therefore I have had it on for about ten years.
Can you tell me when it will be avaliable for this new version of Tbird? Why can't it allways follow T-bird's updates?

In TB38, this is again standard functionality but hidden in View => Layout => Folder Pane Columns.

Thanks to the add-on developer for helping us out for such a long time.
