Please make it compatible with different language versions of Thunderbird because since my main inbox has a different name than regular english one, I guess that`s why it just won`t work. Thanks.

I believe it should come with some option to assign priorities... I mean: if it finds I already used 2 or more identities, then I should be able to decide which one takes priority and gets used.

This in my opinion should be always true, including the "detection" tab: for example I may want to always use my account B when my last name appears, regardless of any other settings.

Finally, it should support for alerts: for example any time the word "regards" is detected, I should be asked which identity to use (defaulting my professional one, for example)

...just ideas, but the extension works fine other than that :)

If I am using smart folders, and I click on the top "Inbox" (whereby my 2 separate account's inboxes are subfolders of that) and click "Compose" the plug-in does not work...Does not pick the setting. Let me explain it another way. The Smart folder looks like this:
===================
SMART FOLDERS
INBOX (Accounts 1 and 2)
--Account #1
--Account #2
etc.
===================
If I click on INBOX and then Compose it doesn't work.

I really like the plug-in, but I'm wondering why a certain feature is missing:

When I click on a mail address within an email (or in the external web browser as well), a new message opens with some default sender address. Here it would be important to use the same address which would be used when clicking reply. At least, some standard sender address (definable in the plug-in settings!) would be needed which is used when some email link is clicked to compose a new message.

Another "nice-to-have" feature would be to somehow apply the detection mechanism as well to manually entered receiver addresses. E.g., when I start writing a mail to my boss (identified by the domain of his mail address), the sender address should not be my private address.

Nice, thanks a lot! This finally resolves my identities issues. Check out http://www.babelzilla.org for easy localization of your add-on!

Version 1.3.2 works fine with TB 3.0.1 but there is one issue. In Options, automatic identity detection, you must enter the addresses or aliases in LOWERCASE, e.g. address@domain.com. If you enter any uppercase character, e.g. Address@domain.com, then the identity is not detected.

For a similar addon which is compatible with TB 3 check Identity Chooser (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/56935) .

Excellent Add-on. Unfortunately it does not work on Thunderbird 3. Hopefully it will be updated soon.

Installs on Tbird 3.0 with the fix by Dennis but then has no functionality whatsoever!

Paludi, thanks for the tip.

I've tried the modifications and it works great.

I hope that Dennis will update the original file though so others can enjoy it.

Paludi, thanks for the contribution.
I did the modifications and it works great.

I've sent a note to the author (Dennis) to notify him to update it when he has the time.

I can confirm paludi's fix. The extension seems to be working without any problem.

Seems to be working even with TB3. I removed the plugin from TB. Then I opened the installation file (correct_identity-1.3.1-tb.xpi) with a zip-programme (or simply rename it to .zip and later don't forget to rename again to .xpi) and edited the install.rdf (open it with a text editor).
Replace 3.0a1
with 3.0
Then save the file and install the addon in thunderbird.
That's it...

This is a must-have for me. I set messages to my private mail address to be forwarded to my business mail address. When I want to reply to a forwarded message, by default it was sent from the business account. However, after I installed this addon, I don't have to check and confirm what account is now selected, because this selects suitable account automatically!

I second "My_Nick..." I use Thunderbird for both my personal and business email. I make the "from wrong identity" mistake only when composing new emails. It never seems to happen when replying, maybe because I don't use local folders. So this feature would be much more useful to me when composing new messages. Thanks!
