This add-on has been extremely practical for me over the last years.
It's a pity Mozilla doesn't provide the conditions to developers to mantain and update theirs addons, especially those that are proven solutions.
I don't get the point, sincerely.
sad, sad, sad.

Thank you for all your work and the explanation why Auto Resize suddenly stopped working after the last Thunderbird update. It has been immensely useful to me in the past and a real backward step fot Thunderbird to remove it. I am sorry and well understand your feelings about the way you have bee treated

Thank you very much for your effort. Sorry to hear that it will not be continues on TB 68. But totally understand the situation. Hope the environment change and give you the chances to keep going on.

This has been an indispensable addon for many years and I am very sad about the parting comments of the developer concerning how Mozilla HQ seems to be treating its unpaid community!!

THank you so much dr3 !!

You did a wonderful job! I want to go back to v60 to have your add on working but impossible, something changed in TB files making this reverse operation impossible!

My resize tool bar icon had disappeared in the last few days. I finally was able to install this add-on but now I can only resize my attachments by right clicking on the attachment and finding and then clicking on resize. It used to be that I could click on the Resize link or heading in my toolbar and it would resize all of my attachments. How do I get the resize function back to showing in my tool bar please?

Hi. This is definitely not a bug or review "review". This is just a standard TB usage issue... (!!). So please contact me at autoresizeimage@gmail.com and we'll see what can be done. Regards.

Great Add-on! Biggest usability-problem thought is that the UI does not scale on a 13" Macbook Pro. The bottom buttons will not be visible because the Add On is "glued" under the header-part of the email-message. When moving around the email window it releases the Add-on window so this way i can see the whole window including the bottom-images.

Edit: Changing the laout in the settings to to Horizontal fixes the issue. Would be good though to have this as the default setting..

Hi. Just dig through the settings, there is simple workaround to display interactive dialog as horizontal. Besides that, 3/5 whereas you have everything needed at your fingertips is a bit harsh... Regards,

Works great with Thunderbird 60.6.1.

the star Nr. 5 is given, when i can resize pics in received emails :-) - almost a very fine addon....

ok youre right, there are the 5 Stars :-)
but my wish remains

Hi,
So i guess i will stay with only 4/5 because that's not going to happen: not the purpose of the addon.
It's not fair and legitimate to judge something on what it does not pretend to do and that it actually does not do instead of what it does it pretends to... do your blame your car because it does not make coffee?

TB 60: after I enabled unsuported AddOns it works fine so far...

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.15.3).

Hi. Could you explain me what is "unsupported addons" please? A TB mode? An addon? Thanks in advance. Regards.

EDIT: TB v60 compatibility has been added in ARI v1.0.0.

Hello, do you plan to make your wonderful addon compatible with TB 60?
Thank you!!
[Edit: thank you, it works now!)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.15.3).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

Hi. Sure, as soon as the mozilla community publish a full detailed info on "what has to be changed for the addons which used to work for years now could work again"... Besides this cynical comment, i'm currently struggling to find out myself with small hints i can find on the web, and i'm really struggling... So it is not garantuee. Cheers.

EDIT: TB v60 compatibility has been added in ARI v1.0.0.

I use this all the time but the only way I can continue to do so is by running older versions of T-bird. I am sticking with T-bird 45.8.0 because Auto Resize has a bug with T-bird 52.6.0 - when you create an email and save it as a draft after resizing images in the email, those images aren't saved correctly in the draft and T-bird hangs when you try to open the draft. I reported this in the fall of 2017 to the developer but it has not been fixed yet. I hope it gets fixed.

Hi,
This has been fiexed in v0.15.3 by adding an option to remove undo information when saving as draft.

I user came into my office (I'm the IT manager) complaining that her email with attached photos was to big to send--again--it's a common problem. I said, "So you really want to have a photo size option pop up when you send, just like on your iPhone?" "Exactly." "Give me a couple minutes."

Figuring that there might be a Thunderbird add-on for the purpose, I picked this (top result for my search), installed it, and tried it with all the default option settings. Just what we needed!

I installed it on one user's desktop to test for a starters, but I can imagine deploying it to all as part of our standard set-up.

Hi,
Please could contact me at autoresizeimage@gmail.com.
I dont get the version issue report: ARI is compatible with TB v59... (tested by myself). So what is the actual problem?

EDIT: Just a warning, but compatibility with TB v59 is OK.

The only thing I'm missing is an option to remove all EXIF data. Could that be implemented in future versions?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.15.2).

Hi,
This "feature" is already "done": please see https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/auto-resize-image/versions/?page=1#version-0.15.0.

High-angle recorded images are rotated. In interactive mode, I always have to rotate it.
I am looking forward to the announced new version of ARI, which rotates and displays the images according to the EXIF. Then very much like 5 stars. :-)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.14.5).

Hi,
The images have been shot with a camera which uses Exif data.
ARI is not a picture viewer software or something like this... its purpose is to resize images inserted into a mail message: even if images are not handled in any way by ARI, Exif data are not handled by TB, so the images will be send "as they are".
That said, i'm currently working on a new version which reads Exif data and will automatically rotate images upon Exif data orientation setting.

Besides that, only 3/5 as rating for this "non-issue" is sure a very harsh review.

--
EDIT: Thanks for your review modification. Please contact me at autoresizeimage(at)gmail.com so i could send you a beta version which already handles Exif data.

--
EDIT2: Exif data reading is now available since v0.15.0

I'm so accustomed to having this functionality present, it's jarring when I'm in a situation where I don't have it. Totally a must-have for me.

This ad on does exactly what it says. Multiple options to tweak product. I had to communicate with the developer for a minor issue. Very responsive with excellent communication, and the issue was resolved faster than I would have expected.
