My Reviews

OpenDownload²

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I didn't even notice this feature was missing until today as I've always had an addon that fixed it, but it flatout disappeared from my extensions for some reason.

The problem is in the Firefox application settings. Open that up and you'll see some files have "always ask" while others have "save file". Just click the dropdown button where it says "save file" and change it to "always ask". Took me forever to figure that out.

Imgur Uploader

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Supremely useful, though it has one glitch: Upload and Edit doesn't work (even logged in), though the other options do. I contacted Imgur directly and they said to contact the developer of the extension (even though Imgur is listed as one of them). So whomever it is I hope you read this. This page needs a correction regarding who the developer of the extension is.

Linkification

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I spent months wondering why Amazon was so incredibly slow to navigate. Finally I started disabling each addon until I discovered that linkification was to blame. Disabled it and Amazon no longer lags. Running on SSD, 8 GB ram, Phenom II X4 3.4 Happened regardless if I was using Windows 7 or 8. Something to work on, guys. Hope you figure out how to fix that.

Youtube MP3 Podcaster

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using Easy YoutTube Video Downloader for a long time, but now it requires purchasing to download mp3. So tried a few other converters and this one didn't have any page redirects. It just downloaded them. Sound matches that of the videos, too. Just wish it would work with DTA. Thanks.

Hi, Jeremy, DTA is the DownThemAll plugin for Firefox. Easy to work with and highest speed. I do keep in mind there is a conversion process before the mp3 can be downloaded, of course.

YesScript

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Yesscript is a "too little, too late" addon. Noscript is MUCH easier to use and, unlike what the devs of this addon claim, does not force you to embrace paranoia. You can do the same thing with Noscript as Yesscript just by allowing all scripts and then blocking the ones you don't want to deal with. Simply rightclick the page and choose what you want to block vs all the extra steps you have to take if you use Yesscript instead. I think the devs fail to understand the KISS principle.

OptimizeGoogle

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have to repeal part of one of my reviews. Google results being hijacked such as ignoring your selection to see 100 results instead of 10. This a script that Google runs, which overrides EVERYTHING! Use the Noscript extension to BLOCK "google.com" from hijacking your search preferences. This doesn't black google itself, just the java script it wants to run on your system. However, I think this needs to be added as an option to this extension (maybe it already is and I just missed it).

OptimizeGoogle

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Sticky preferences frankly no longer work. For instance, results are ALWAYS 10, not the 100 I selected. To me, that is the most useful feature. Now it just doesn't work. Google's fault, no doubt, but then that renders this addon useless to me if they can't keep up with Google.I submitted this issue on their user feedback page and they never posted it. At least tell me you read my submission. This was the most important extension I had, now it does nothing for me.

I've tested this with every version of FF 3.6

SmartSave Thunderbird Extension

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Only exports your main folders. If you have more than one email account it ignores them. This extension serves no purpose.

Google Translate ANY => EN

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Would be nice if it didn't replace the search bar. Have to use the drop down arrow to use regular google search now. But it saves a lot of typing i.e. click in search bar, type translate, click google translate in the search results, select language option, paste text THEN translate! With this it's just past and click and your done!

Other option would be to install the google toolbar, but I don't like using their bloated toolbar.

Text2Link

Not compatible with Firefox 3.6 in spite of what Mozilla says.

Extra Fasterfoxx

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Firefox does seem to start faster, though I'm on a fresh install of Vista. But it seems the websites are loading the same speed.

DownThemAll!

Would be nice if the added ftp support, which required entering login and password information. Firefox is natively not compatible with FTP sites (yes, I've tested it multiple times on multiple sites).

Linkification

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Fantastic. I went to some page that I knew were all text links and thought something was wrong because there weren't any text links to use this on. Duh! It automatically made the text clickable! Thankyou!

Search btjunkie.org - Quick right click functionality

Can this be edited as IMDB search needs fixing as you mentioned in your review. How to edit this? Thanks.

DownThemAll!

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Impossible to reach bug site, so hope their reading these. Great program. BUT every download accelerator I've ever tried allowed me to sort downloads by name.

Also, this is a HUGE resource hog. Firefox already uses over 330MB of my ram, but when DLTA is running my system really slows down. Crysis couldn't slow my system down FCOL!

No way to limit bandwidth is another problem.
