StarMoveContact

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It was as if it isn't even there! Besides, even if it was there it is far far easier just to drag and drop contacts anyways...

Auto Address Cleaner

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It removes a big nuisance. It works and works well. That is well designed tech!

Signature Switch

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Normally one star reviews should be for apps that completely do not work. Normally 2 stars should be for ones that barely work or are deeply flawed. This one does work- so why one star? I am freakin' mad! I spent way way way too much time trying to make signatures with this thing. It can't load images( it just displays a bunch of junk( the code)), it only displays simple text- heck I could do that without this!, it has no HTML editor, it has way too many geeky and difficult to understand menus, the site is supposed to give detailed instructions but it doesn't. If you weren't already an advanced user forget it! YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME!

The bottom line is maybe advanced users might get some tiny tiny advantage from using this but for all the aggravation involved it isn't worth it. It is my observation that there has yet to be a competent signature add-on that is worth using. I found it was MUCH easier just to do the following: I made my own signature using simple old Paint. I used a brush just like I was writing in cursive and wrote a signature, then I saved it and went back and made several versions with my email, phone #, a saying, with each,without... Then I made a signature folder in my pictures. Then when I want a signature I just insert the picture and center it. People who have seen it are raving about it and asking how the heck I did it! It was easy and a fraction of the hassle that ANY of the signature add-ons give us. Maybe someday someone will make one that works and is so simple that your grandma can run. Until they make it so you want "xyz" to display- click click- done! Until then don't waste your time with ANY of the signature apps!

Edit HTML Source

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

It sounds like it once was a good extension and some users have posted some alternatives in their reviews and it is good to see the community involved and taking action. However, this has not been updated since 2007. Mozilla probably needs to sweep their TB catalog and remove lots of dead add-ons, slow down their rapid release fiasco to ensure robust technology and encourage a new wave of add-ons for the next generation of TB and FF too.

Contacts Sidebar

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I gave it a try and all it did was display an error message on the side and it totally destroyed my highly customized toolbars on top. I restart TB and uninstall this one and even the toolbars reset to normal. Strange....

**Edit** Notice that it hasn't been updated since 2007? So if Mozilla continually puts a bunch of 1star add-ons after another in their featured list then what is that saying about the people working there...? I turn on the tv and radio and the people making millions cannot sing, play an instrument, write their own music... The stock market is crashing and our political leaders don't understand high school economics and they are going on vacation. Why do I continually get so surprised when Mozilla itself doesn't even have the foggiest clue???

Sender Verification Anti-Phishing Extension

Even the website would not correctly download it anymore. The basic idea was good but it is doubtful that anyone will get to put it into action anymore and see what it can do. R.I.P.

MailHops

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I installed it the other day and it did accurately trace numerous emails and their routes. A few got the locations off by maybe 20 miles( usually naming a neighboring town) but in general it was extremely close. I tested it out with mails from many places- including international and it got them correct too. If there are any significant flaws I have yet to see them. So therefore so far so good!

Lightning

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Ok, I downloaded it to test it out and never really got a chance to see how it really works because I am working close to 100 hour weeks as it is and I can only do so many things in a day. Next thing I know I get a notice that TB5 is out and I DL it. Then it claims that about half my add-ons are incompatible- including Lighting! I tried and tried and most would not work. I also hated the UI of TB5 so I rolled back to 3.11. Besides, how the heck can they go straight from 3.11 to 5? I then reinstalled my add-ons and got them all working again- except Lightning. A few days later I see a Mozilla page touting how wonderful TB5 is and you can run Lightning on it! Are they freaking kidding? They just disabled the #*&^@ thing! Ugghhhh! I then took a day and went through the entire TB add-on catalog and tested tons of them out and found a few real winners. It also became very clear that most of the catalog has been abandoned and most have not been updated in years. That is going to be a real issue for TB users. Anyways, to make a long story short Lightning no longer would work with 3.11 and for the sake of experimenting I temporarily went to 5 again- and AGAIN Lightning wouldn't work! so it wont work on 3.11, it wont work on 5... Then why is it here??? Now maybe after a million installs and secret hidden version numbers it might take but lets face it: I am a hardcore techie and some of us might be able to do that but what about the common user? if only a tiny% of people can even get something to install correctly the first time that is catastrophic failure! The common user is not going to spend hours doing battle with things to make them work. They simply will walk away and never use it again... I do not know if the developers of Lightning have anything to do with the development of TB itself but just like with Firefox the new versions are proving to be outright failures! Someone at Mozilla needs to slow down this rapid release nonsense and make sure that their new products actually work! Who cares if the car is brand new if you take it out of the driveway and the wheels fall off...

QuickFolders (Tabbed Folders)

This one is a radical improvement over the old way! Especially for power users this will save us TONS of time and headaches! WTG!

It works and it works well! Sometimes tech is like owning a car. Every now and then you have to get the oil changed for it to work properly...

Display Contact Photo

I have been using it for a while and it is working beautifully! The idea and the execution are great!

Sticky notes are a gamechanger and thankfully someone stepped up and kept them alive! WTG!

XNote

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Sticky notes are one of the greatest ideas ever!- both on and offline! I use them all the time both on my desktop and on Firefox and surely there should be ones for TB too right? Well, this one can't even run on Tb 3.11! I rolled back from the very screwed up 5 and after doing an extensive add-on search it appears that much of the catalog simply has been abandoned. In the words of Dr. Mccoy kneeling over the dead redshirt ensign; "He's dead Jim!"

Signature /Auto Paste /Prefill Fourms

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I has no HTML support and even the title has typos( "prefill fourms.") The description is loaded with typos too. How can we take this seriously if the author cannot be bothered to run a simple spell-check?

DuckDuckGo (HTTPS / SSL)

I like how this gives good results and doesn't spy on you! It immediately is going in my Apollo! Pack collection!

Toolbar Buttons

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am promoting it in my Apollo! Pack collection because it gives tons of spectacular tools and many of them could replace many other apps. I did read the reviews from other users and the real problem is Firefox 4 and 5- not the buttons! I urge people to roll back to 3.6 because it can handle unlimited add-ons and it can handle custom toolbars. FF 4 and 5 simply cannot handle them! You set them up and they instantly have a meltdown! FF4 and 5 are sold as Chrome imitations and sure they are fast- but at what cost? Nobody at Mozilla seems to care about competence anymore with all this rapid release nonsense. If you just want raw speed so you can get a million viruses just get the real deal and run Chrome itself.-At least it is competent for what it promises FF 4 and 5 are like buying a new car that if you take it above 5 mph out of the driveway the wheels fall off... In short- if your add-ons and toolbars refuse to work correctly the problem is Firefox 4 and 5- NOT this add-on. We all need to pressure Mozilla to get back to what made them great in the first place...

WikiLook

I like the convenience of it but as someone else said https would be better. I am putting it in my Apollo! Pack collection because of the convenience factor.

Custom Buttons²

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I tried both Custom Buttons and the websites were down for days. It wasn't even possible to see if they really could do anything or not. It appears that the makers have abandoned them. Doing my best Dr. Mccoy imitation: "It's dead Jim!"

It works well and is a nice convenience. It is nice to be able to save some steps. Sure, you can do things the slower way but why? I run the Apollo! Pack collection and this one is going in it right away.

Update Notifier

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I had used this one countless times and I even put it in my collection. I run tons of experimental add-ons and one broke my profile database and I had to do a mass re-installation after creating a fresh profile. Apparently this one now refuses to even install correctly when I know for a fact that just weeks ago it was working perfectly. I have spoken with a number of my subscribers and other users and they all confirmed the issue. Apparently it has been abandoned and I wish someone would open it up and take it over. The idea itself is quite good. Right now I am running a tech startup and my hands are full and I am swamped -but maybe someone in the right situation could???*** EDIT*** Strangely enough this one keeps saying that it is incompatible and can't install-but yet it actually does. One thing I teach is for users to not always trust error messages because most of them are in error! So this one is abandoned, it says it doesn't install and yet it does... It makes you feel about as confused as Boy George in the men's room...
