I've been using send later to send emails I've written at weird and wonderful hours so that the intended recipients don't think I'm a vampire - the intention being that the mail is delivered during 'reasonable hours'. In that respect, I can't fault it....
BUT
The most recent update this week has mad a minor change to how stuff sitting in the draft box waiting to be sent later appears - it used to be EMBOLDENED (so someone like me could see and be reminded there's something sitting in it waiting to go)... The EMBOLDENED drafts folder and indeed messages sitting within it have now been switched off and it's a small pain...
Yes, the program still works and sends later as intended BUT because I now can't see that the DRAFTS folder is in BOLD typeface (like UNREAD elsewhere in T'Bird), I have found that I keep going back to check the drafts folder asking myself 'did I send [for later], did I send [for later]'. Clearly, this is a loss of functionality and is inadvertently consuming my time because I feel I need to keep looking there to make sure I've not forgotten to schedule an email to be sent later !!!
PLEASE *Switch this back on again in the next update* If other people have specifically asked for this to be switched off, then please have something like "leave pending to be sent messages and Drafts folder IN BOLD" as an option.
I am driving myself nut meanwhile checking back again and again asking myself "Did I click to send that later or not".
Best wishes though - it is a good program!
Thanks for your feedback!
It honestly hadn't occurred to me that some people might have _liked_ the fact that scheduled drafts are marked unread in the drafts folder. I've gotten a lot of feedback over the years from people who didn't like it. But of course the people who did like that behavior had no reason to contact me because it was working how they wanted it to. ;-)
I've just released a new beta release with a new preference to control this functionality. The behavior of marking drafts read is enabled by default since I still believe that's what more users will want, but you can turn off the preference if you'd like scheduled drafts to remain marked unread.
You can try out the beta release by downloading it from https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/versions/6.2.1beta1 , or you can wait a week or so until I release the new functionality to everyone (after some time for my beta testers and translators get a crack at it) and you'll get the update automatically.
Note that if you install the beta release, you'll be on the "beta track" moving forward and you'll get subsequent beta releases automatically, so if you don't want that, then after the feature is generally released you'll want to download the newest non-beta version and install that to switch off of the beta channel.
Thanks again for your feedback!

I don't have much need to use this functionality in Thunderbird, which is mostly used for personal email, but the few times I've needed it Send Later has worked perfectly and I was grateful to have it.

Gives you the opportunity to send mails when you want (eg in 2 hours). It has helped me a lot in some situations

This add-on has become indispensable at work. Emails that must be sent regularly throughout the week can be scheduled immediately or several at one time. The add-on will send them when needed, relieving me from waiting to send emails and thus freeing my mind to do other things. I am extremely grateful for the existence of this program.

I have been using this for more than several years and it is a great addition. I contributed to the developer because it is so useful.

Does the job as advertised ... and in a nice way.
I am not using it often but it's handy to be able to write an e-mail now, and to program the time it will be sent (next day first thing in the morning, for instance).

I have orders I need to send in to the manufacturer at a specific time on only certain days during the week. As I work from home and my schedule is erratic (on a good day :-) I was constantly missing my window of opportunity which meant delayed fulfillment of orders.
With this plugin I just set it and forget it! I open it, add new orders, set the day and schedule for when it needs to send. I have more orders, just open the draft, add more, and hit the schedule save again and I'm done. I haven't had a delayed order in literally months now... no matter what my day/night has been like.
It also reminds you there are emails that are scheduled when you close Thunderbird so I know to keep it open.
Thank you so much for this!

It would be perfect if we could set a default time to be sent the next day (extra/new option: Tomorrow), so that we can schedule emails going out in the morning the day after a holiday, for example. But in general I would like to be able to set a date/timestamp as a default, and then have the option to override or confirm it each time.

This is a great add-on -- well designed, and easy to use. I've been using this on a daily basis for many months now, and would recommend it to anyone using Thunderbird. Also, the developer was extremely helpful and responded very quickly to a question I had. Highly recommended!

I was trying to be nice b/c I do like the concept and it apparently works really well on other platforms. In addition, I think developers of free add-ons should be given lots of emotional support since the pecuniary rewards may be few and far between.
That said, your response to my comment was remarkably tone-deaf. Instead of acknowledging that immediately after I installed your add-on my system began to freeze/hang and that the problem stopped as soon as I removed it, you flat-out insisted the add-on couldn't be the cause of the problem. You recommend a fix, good. But you could have done so without denying that the problem I described was secondary to installation of the add-on. I hope and trust you will take this suggestion in the supportive spirit in which it is offered.

Works as promised, with no significant bugs found on our end just yet. Great for when you want to reach clients first thing in the morning but want to prep the email the night before.

Sehr nützliches Tool, verschafft einem oftmals nötigen Aufschub und sorgt dennoch für Seriosität beim Empfänger. Funktioniert seit Jahren tadellos!

Thank you for this fantastic add-on! This functionality is extremely useful, and I've been looking for it for very long on Thunderbird!
I have noticed something I find a bit problematic. When you accidentally select a date and hour which are not in the future but in the past, the email is sent immediately. I think you should add a warning message pointing out that the user probably mispecified the date and time he wanted for the dispatch.
EDIT: Thanks for your quick reply!
That's a good idea. I'll add it to my to-do list to be implemented as time permits.

It just does what it says on the tin. A must have.
I use this add-on to send reminders for the deadlines: I just write the message when I set the deadline, and also the message with the reminder for 20 days later, and then i just forget about it.
Thank you!

I use this add on every day. I work late at night and don't want my clients to see emails from me at 3 am, so I set them up to be sent around 7 am. It works and I love it!

The only function I regularly used in Outlook and missed in Thunderbird was the possibility to specify a time and date when to send a message. An Add-On with the name "Send Later" was quickly found and installed.
Now that I tried it, I find the name "Send Later" to be a massive understatement of this app's capabilities. While it gives you the possibility to easily send emails at a later stage (and with a lot more comfort than Outlook's function at that!) , it allows you an immense level of customization.
You want to send every email with a delay of 15 minutes, in case you change your mind? No problem. You want to send your email on a specific time and date? No problem. You want to send your email immediately if it's business hours or else the next day? No problem. You want to send an email only when it's full moon? Well, not built-in, but with a bit of JavaScript you can do just about anything. :)
Really, great app. Thanks to the dev for making this available for free and open source.

I often write up e-mails when the thought occurs to me. However, I don't always want to bother the recipient just because I thought of something. This allows me to send information to people when I want them to have it. It's useful every day!

I love this add-on because some weeks, I have a lot of time, and I can think ahead to reminder emails I need to send out to people. I just schedule it to send the next week (when I know I'll be busy and forget!) and it keeps our organization on track. I also use it to schedule to send birthday emails, so I don't forget when the actual birthday happens.
