DO NOT USE. It deleted all my contacts.

I downloaded this add-on and it added a folder to my Address Book for gmail contacts. Sounds reasonable, right?
I selected a contact I didn't want anymore, changed windows for a minute, then went back to my address book window. The google contacts address book itself apparently (?) became selected in the listbox, but I didn't notice.
I hit one delete key, thinking I was deleting my contacts.
This add-on deleted my ENTIRE google contacts list with NO WAY to recover it.
DO NOT USE THIS PLUGIN. It's obviously not an intentional problem, but it's an extremely serious one. Words cannot express how sorry I am I installed this.

VOTO NULLO
Mi ha cancellato tutti i miei contatti (collezzionati per lavoro e non da oltre 3 anni) e i gruppi direttamente sul server. SCONSIGLIO A TUTTI. Non è il massimo ritrovarsi nella mia situazione.
PS se qualcuno mi traduce questo Post ne sarei contento

Unfortunately this version 0.4.20 is terribly buggy! Had much better luck with Zindus.

interisting start, but I agree that there are some problems with google groups. Why are location and ZIP in thunderbird not transfered to the address field in the contacts? I change the Information in TB and use GC as a reository to transfer the calendar and contacts to my IPOD touch. To have the same functionallity vice versa would be nice (split up of google address field).

Good idea, but it killed all my groups in Google Mail. This horrible buggy extension should never be allowed on Mozilla site! I'll need days to restore the data!

Only syncs some addresses, based on an unclear criteria. This would be a better add-on if it explained what criteria determined whether or not it would sync the addresses, or if it provided additional guidance. I'm sure it's not a bug-- I'm probably just not clever enough to figure it out, so would love additional guidance built into the options screen.

Doesn't work for me. Only the contacts inside a particular folder in my contacts list were synced. Too bad. Frustrating. Maybe I'll try putting all my contacts into subgroups at gmail and see if that helps...

Seems to work very well so far!
It took me a little while to realize that only the street address part synchronized with GMail (and not City, Zipcode, etc), but when I think about it it's logical since GMail doesn't have the other fields...

Does what it must to do - synchronizes contacts with gmail. And for me other ways to import google contacts to TB were just painful, because TB did not work correctly with csv, ignoring most of information.

At first, after installation, all contacts were synced but only a few of them were in TB's mailing lists which correspond to the matching Gmail contact label (all of my contacts are categorized with labels). After searching around a bit I realized that normally every Gmail contact should have an E-Mail address defined, which was not the case for a number of contacts. My problem vanished after I defined dummy E-Mail addresses for the contact lacking one. It would be nice if one wouldn't be obliged to do this. But, besides this minor glitch, this is a "must have" for anyone using TB together with Gmail.

Hey, great job!
This seems to work well. You have helped me get rid of 1 of my 5 main Thunderbird Annoyances!
(The other ones being: 1) The keep-offline doesnt really work - you have to constantly go online to read msgs 2) No ability to easily set universal settings for all mailboxes eg. filters 3) No ability to search all mailboxes at once (rediculous!) 4) The worst of all: constant retrieving of password with gmail)

Nice and clean. I'd still like to see two more features in there:
- Feedback! You just don't see what's happening and if whatever was supposed to happen did happen. Something like a status bar message stating "31 contacts updated" or "no updates were needed, address books are already in sync" would make life easier
- Something like an address format specification would be great. All addresses from my phone are (of course) merged in gmails single address field... If I could state something like "%street%\n%zip% %city%" (ie some kind of expression stating the order of all items in that string) to have things ordered properly in TB it'd make things tidier in there.
Still, while Zindus messed up my address book by using an xml scheme only itself does understand, this one worked extremely well.

my current version: 0.4.20.
I have been using this for a while. In the past I have had some problems losing groups. Just now however, working in gmail, I renamed some groups, created some, deleted some and also deleted a bunch of 'suggested contacts'. I then re-opened Thunderbird and it worked perfectly.
