Perfect to restore the image position to top left as before. It has also other options to tune it up to your liking. Dev actively supports it and keeps it up to date.

Great add-on. Can you update it to center svg files?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.2.1-signed.1-signed).

Okay, there are three problems with doing this that I can see:

a) SVG is complicated (SVG images are closer to webpages than to images), and I'm not at all sure I can get centering that works for all SVG images without breaking anything.
b) I don't want to add every feature that anybody asks for; every feature I have to maintain but don't use myself is another reason to put off doing updates.
c) SVG documents are a different type of document to Image documents, and ODIS can't handle multiple document types yet.

I'll have to deal with (c) anyway, whenever I decide to make ODIS work on video documents, so I'll try and do this then... but I probably won't be doing that soon, since I have other extensions I need to work on.

Firefox has become the Internet Explorer that I dumped several years ago.

Thanks for this great (but unfortunately necessary) add-on.

I registered just to write this review. Like everyone else, I will use my first sentence to say it's a shame this extension is necessary, but thank you for writing it.

For everyone else...

Blame "user experience" experts for ruining Firefox. They are working on removing your ability to change the interface at all.

The worst part is, they pat themselves on the back and think they're doing God's work.

Somehow, while being in denial about the havoc they wreak on quality software, they have acknowledged that people are growing wise to the Emperor's new clothes that is "user experience". So now they call themselves "UX", hoping we won't know what it is.

Take your "user experience", fold it until it's nice and sharp, then sit on it and spin a while. UX YOU!

Five stars for this plugin, minus infinity stars for the self-proclaimed experts who work day and night to ruin quality software they're not talented enough to create.

Firefox 22 seems to have broken the cursor turning to a magnifying glass when hovering it over a large resolution image. Just pointing it out for a fix, other than that, amazing addon, completely necessary, I can't really imagine using Firefox without it as I deal with images a lot.

Does it exactly what it claims.

Not sure why Mozilla haven't acknowledged their mistake and rectified the change they implemented.

Hell, they could've at least made it customisable.

The concept of centering the image was fine but adding a black background was completely unacceptable. This add-on is spot-on and simple, fixing a "bug" that really shouldn't be a bug. WHY fix something that aren't broken!
Thank you very much.

Simple. Wasn't asking for much and so this does exactly what I want.

works fine, thanks.
I just wonder why mozilla didn't add us the option to choose whether to show images centered or in top-left alingment.

There are many things I don't like in the newer versions of firefox, And again why didn't they add an option to change it back like the way it was in 3.6, damn i miss that version.

Much Thanks to Dagger (developer) for fast reply here and double Thanks for Dagger's steadfast attention.

I have nothing against black backgrounds but I mostly end up removing them for stand-alone viewing and editing, when necessary.

Meantime, Much Appreciation to steeviebops for that (obvious) remedy. Should have tried that first. Dagger will hopefully develop a suitable fix. Meantime, I'll just apply your solution.

Again, very grateful to both.

Excellent addon.

With regard to the dark background returning in Firefox 18; it's easily fixed. Go to the addon's Options in the Add-ons Manager and specify #FFFFFF as a custom background colour.

I would never use automatic updates for anything; instead selecting them from Yast in OpenSUSE, which gives one the ability to revert: I'm not sure whether to go back to 14 yet because of this --- and the fact restored sessions on 15 jumble the tab order --- but I may...

The background is back to black, the image is still centred as I chose in the extension, but I'm sure that's just the Firefox default and the browser is ignoring the extension.

In developers' manic need to force their defaults on users --- witness the new no longer optional default of 'Tabs on Top' --- I'm wondering if Mozilla has had it with extensions that allow users' choice.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Absolutely brilliant fact that it also adds a class to both the BODY and IMG to enable users to style it using userChrome.css or Stylish.

However, I would recommend that you add built-in options to allow users to customise the background with an image instead of the colour. Better yet, just replace the entire background-color parameter with background, for greater customisability control.

That makes a ton of sense, but the downside is that background doesn't accept completely the same syntax as background-color (the leading # for hex colors is not optional -- hopefully that's the only difference.) I can fix that with a bit of parsing, but I'm worried I'll get it wrong and break some people's config.

Ah well, I'm sure they'll e-mail and complain if that happens...

Awesome add-on for us who love the old default style. Also the developer replied quickly after I submitted a bug report. Good job! :)

Indispensable add-on for those who use Firefox as a working tool. It is very difficult to work with a black background, because the bad shows boundaries of dark images and transparent GIFs. It is unclear why Mozilla does these awkward changes. Thanks to the authors add to the fact that they retain this browser most convenient.

Thank you. I was surelly also not happy with the new totally no sense black background that made it hard/impossible to see transparent images...

Hope Mozilla stops with these new crap ideas that are ruining latest Firefox versions... I did only recently updated from fx 3.6 to 13 and took me some time to "sort" a few things... with addons / userChrome.css... :(
