Does what it says in FF v26! Thank you! For a single word searches, it is a little bit slow for the following reasons: FF first checks for existing server/domain name, then calls the search engine in the search bar (next to the location bar), and as next, when the call to the unwanted search engine is finished, the pre-defined search engine of the add-on is called and results are displayed. It may be a FF design feature. Multi-word searches works like a charm!

Per the author's site he is currently working on the issue with Firefox 26...wanted to share with everybody else he is aware of the problem and working on it!

Was a perfect addon while it worked, but Firefox 26 broke its functionality on the about:home page.

I'm so glad I found this extension! As a recent upgrade from Firefox 16 due to finally no longer being able to work with newer web design on sites I frequent, I was horrified by the new behaviour of the search bar. What's the point of even having a search box if just typing your query in the 'awesome bar' forces the same results?

This extension, thankfully, does exactly what it says it will and fixes this problem, providing a decent selection of search engines to choose from as your default in the 'awesome bar.' I haven't encountered any problems with it, myself. Though I also don't have a capability to drag words into a new tab to create a search. I've never done that before, so maybe a totally different extension is stopping it; I don't mind, either way, personally.

Its working fine and I thank the dev for that. But this is something that Firefox devs should fix.

This extension solves one problem, but creates another.

I often search by dragging highlighted text to a new tab. Unfortunately, a bug in this extension often causes the search page to be loaded both in the new tab, and the current tab.

In reply to the developer's suggested fix below: checking the box (and restarting) had no effect; the problem remains.

This is finally fixed in version 1.1

Thank you for the work you have put in keyword search.

It works more reliable than keyword.URL Hack! and is easier to set up.

Firefox 23+ removed the 'sometimes go to first result automatically' feature from the URL bar. This add-on (and the more hack-like "keyword.URL Hack!" (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/keywordurl-hack/)) both fix this issue. For this addon, use the options "Google" and Google Features: "Browse by Name."

You are my hero! I almost tried to downgrade my Firefox to V21 because of the loss of this essential feature!

It's sad that I HAVE to use this addon because Mozilla removed this basic feature. It's one of the things that makes Firefox what it is.

I always use Control-K/Cmd-K to use my custom search in search field and Control-L/Cmd-L to search using google in address bar. This addons really saves me a lot of time. Thank you!
