I've been using this add-on for a very long time and it always worked like a charm! So generally: thumbs up!
However, recently, I noticed the Reply-all button does no longer work as expected. When using this button, only contacts which were in the to-field of the original message will get the reply; CC-ed contacts will not.

I just installed this and it works perfectly! Thank God--it was driving me crazy seeing only part of the message window! There are now five little buttons on the upper right. Click on "other actions" and then "preferences."

The Customize window shows no icons and does nothing in TB 17.

A very nice addon indeed.
I support kandilzade's request, to change the background color of the header when the message pane is selected. It would be helpful. I think it would also be nice if a way existed to customize the visibility of the buttons shown in the header (for instance, i hate the "junk" button and would like to remove it).
Thanks for the addon.
The customization of the header toolbar is included in this addon (actually in Thunderbird itself):Place the mouse on top of the buttons, then click right mouse button, then "Customize". Then you can add/remove buttons. With the CompactHeader preferences dialog (e.g. also by the right mouse context menu on top of the header) you can choose the location of the header toolbar.
I added an option to the latest beta (2.0.7beta3) to darken the message header if the message pane has focus.

Tested latest Version 2.0.4 and it fixed the missing toolbar in compact mode for me.
Thanks for the fix.
This is a great add-on.

Version 2.0.4beta2 fixes all the bugs I noticed with the addon (including the missing delete, fwd, etc buttons).
Essential addon that should be a standard feature of Thunderbird. Many thanks to the developer for keeping this one maintained.
Thank you for the update.

This extension no longer works at all in Thunderbird at ver. 11.0.1. If this extension is still being maintained, it would be nice if the author would update it.

I think that the UI for the options is confusing. Also, when I setup the buttons as a sidebar I had issues adding and removing buttons. It would not allow me, for example, to add a Print button. It seemed like it got added but then the button was not there when I hit Done. Only after restarting did the buttons show up. Please clean up the UI, fix the bugs and it might be a hit.

Absolutely love this add-on. I do a lot of work on a netbook and so real estate is limited. This add-on makes reading and managing mail a lot easier. Thanks to the developer!

Thanks, it's a very usefull addon.
But I think it would be very convenient if the first one will be recipients "To", and then recipients "Copy".
Thank you for the suggestion. The addresses should be sorted in the new beta version (2.0.2beta3, see development channel).

I complained in a previous comment about a previous version where the plus is hard to click. The latest version of this addon has fixed that, and therefore this addon is perfect.

It is very useful to have maximum view of message body but a little difficulty to identify TO and CC mail ids in two line view. I suggest (or request) to highlight TO mail ids (in bold or some other color) to differentiate between CC mail ids.
Thanks.
In the two line header mode the CC addresses are displayed italic and the BCC addresses italic and underlined.
I didn't want to use bold or a different color because then the CC/BCC addresses would appear too important.

Finally I found this add-on - now I can choose header-size again!
I hadn't imagined there to be an addon now for this purpose. Several months I had been irritated, that Thunderbird had lost the ability to reduce header-size - uncomfortable especially on a netbook, where space is scarce.
Now I understand, there was a change that meant to increase functionality...
I think, this functionality is really important. I strongly encourage it being re-integrated into the main program!

When using CompactHeader 2.0.0 and Mail Summaries 1.1 are installed in Thunderbird 9, the title for the main tab does not update properly. The main tab title contains a folder icon with no text most of the time, but it will properly display the account name if an account is selected in the sidebar. However, clicking on a particular folder in the sidebar (inbox, outbox, etc.) does not update the tab title to show the folder name and account.
Great extension though. I have always loathed Thunderbird's huge header display.
I cannot reproduce your problems with CompactHeader and Mail Summaries. Could you please give some more hints (at the support thread at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1405155

With the release of Thunderbird 8.0, the toolbar in the message window aligns to the left when "Show details" is expanded. When collapsed it is justified correctly. I am sure it is just a minor tweak that needs to be made to make it compatible with 8.0. Other than that this is an essential add-on for saving real estate on your TB window.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.5).Could please test the latest beta (1.4.6beta2, in the development channel). It should fix the problem.

Fundamental. A must-have extension. This should actually be part of Thunderbird.
Works great in TB 7.0.1

Was searching for SO long for this, the headers in Thunderbird take SO MUCH space!!May i suggest and extra option? There's already the option for showing only adresses... but maybe it could show only Names?? It could be SO great :)
It works under Thunderbird 6 !!
This can be switched on in the preferences:
Tools->Options->Advanced->Reading&Display->Show only display name for people in my address book

although claimed here, Thunderbird 5 prompts me that compactheader (compactheader-1.4.0-tb-linux.xpi) can't be installed since it's "not compatible with TB 5"!
So, at least the description is flawed... too bad
