Since I updated to TB 102, the Provider for Google Calendar has not been syncing when Thunderbird is open. I found that it syncs when I start Thunderbird. I have found a workaround that will cause a sync to happen while Thunderbird is open. I go to the Add-ons section and select Provider for Google Calendar. I disable the add-on then enable the add-on. After I enable the add-on a sync with Google Calendar occurs and all events are displayed in the Thunderbird calendar.

This has been an excellent 5 star add-on for many years but since TB 102 on our PCs, it only syncs with Google Calendar when TB is started. After that, there is no sync at all (even if manually requested). :(

Apologies in advance for the low rating but apart from this and a couple of other small niggles, the add-on has been great for many years till now. BUT Since Thunderbird updated to 102.x it is taking 5 minutes to start with intermittent slowdowns. Very frustrating. I have Disabled provider for google calendar and everything works fast again, except no google calendar visibility of course. Please fix this. I made no changes my end, just took the automatic updates when they were offered! I read something about all calendar events being re-read or something like that. Problem seems to be since that feature or bug was introduced.

Windows 10, TB 102: syncing tasks does not work without restarting TB, unfortunately, just as other users reported. Otherwise very good add-on and essential for my workflow.

Used it on MacOS Monterey 12,5.
Unfortunately, it appears to have a memory leak - after 24-48 hours, Thunderbird went from 1.5 Gbytes to 30 G :-(
And, quite often, there was a thread eating up 100% CPU time on a core, making Thunderbird slow and not very responsive. Uninstalled the add-on - and, voila, now my Thunderbird is 1,2 Gbytee pretty stable for many days, and quite responsive. And the calendar stuff works withou Provider - and I do not need the task stuff.

From 102.6.0 Synchronization button does not update calendar anymore. (on several PC's.
Auto-update seems broken as well.
Restarting Thunderbird updates calendar and loads all items.

Of course it's free, but at this moment it's not reliable for us.
Hoping for a fix.

Great application. I will be the first to install it.
Unluckily, there is a bug for unknown reasons for me. When I close a calendar schedule notification, I get a popup saying that there is a change in the data on the server, and when I close it, the calendar schedule notification occurs again. This loops endlessly...

It works, but lacks the ability to add an event from an email invite as there is no option in the settings to assign an email to a calendar. I found that adding a standard Thunderbird network calendar using my Google email and the Secret address in iCal format worked better and allowed me to subscribe to all my Google calendars with email invite support.

The "Provider for Google Calendar" hasn't always been very functional. However at my current job, since 2/2022, it has been reliable and very helpful!
Sure, I have a few nits that I would like them to fix, but it is so much better than using GMail in Chrome!
I really hope that Thunderbird and the Provider for Google Calendar continue for a long time to come!
Keep making it better folks!!!

There was an issue with the add-on and is now fixed by the developer. Details here: https://github.com/kewisch/gdata-provider/discussions/519#discussioncomment-4147395

Thank you for updating! I got used to have my Google tasks in TB, and for a couple of weeks I was desperate because of the oauth2 problem.

One more note, maybe it will help:
If I select the item "Refresh Calendar" to "Manually" in the calendar settings, the synchronization works. If I choose "Every 30 minutes" or "Every 60 minutes", the sync doesn't work.

We need HELP! Provider for Thunderbird has for many years been the link to Gmail's calendar and task lists. We NEED Provider to work. Is there anything we can do to skirt Google signin problems?

I would love to know where in support or community this problem is addressed as being a Google issue. I read through the several different pages of reports on GitHub about the sync no longer working and do not see any discussion about this being caused by Google or what the problem is and if there are any potential solutions. I would love to hear directly from the developer. I hope there is a solution like TbSync has which is a little cumbersome, but still works. Google cloud console has apis to the calendar so it seems this is probably something that needs to be updated by the developer and is not a Google problem, even if Google changed something that caused the add-on to break, it can still be repaired.

To all the people giving 1-star reviews to this addon because it stopped working recently, maybe you should visit the support section or the community.
You will find out the addon stopped working because of Google, not because of the addon, neither because of Thunderbird.
So go leave 1-star reviews to Google instead.

New calendar entries show up when Thunderbird is stopped and restarted, but not when "synchronize" is clicked.

Works for a time, then you have to delete the google account and do it again. It will work for a short time until the sync stops.
