Spins and spins on just the second site I added. (www.dpreview.com) I suspect this isn't the only site that gives it trouble. Also, small rendering of pages is really poor.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.0.2).

If you disable javascript in the background browser (Speed Dial settings panel, "Advanced" tab), then it will. Currently, the background browser has some problems with some pages with redirects/frames/Javascript, but I'm working to improve that behavior. In the next release things should work a lot more smoothly.

Very good extension.

My only quibble is that there's no title nor thumbnail for IE tab sites, just an IE icon and (untitled).

Some banking sites work better in IE tab and I've configured them to use this.

I can set an SD to such sites and it works. However I need to hover over the SD to see what it points to.

As I have just one SD set like this, it's not much of a problem for me.

Thanks for the extension.

I've also noticed a change in behaviour in the latest release.

I quite often used to close the last tab when I'd finished with one subject and wanted to bring up Speed Dial (I have Speed Dial configured to open in new tabs). I found this simpler than opening a new tab and closing the old one.

In the latest release, I just get a blank tab and no Speed Dial.

I prefer the old behaviour, but that's just my preference.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.0.2).

Unfortunately, the method that Firefox uses to create thumbnails is not compatible with IE Tab... nothing I can do from the extension side.

I, also cannot use the nav. bar. Plus, when trying to open a new tab, it goes straight to Speed Dial. How can I disable it?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.0.1).

Sorry about the navigation bar bug. It was solved in 0.5.0.1, and was caused by a conflict with IE Tab. I tried to fix it as soon as I could.

As the speed for Speed Dial has improved a lot since the last release, I decided to activate the option to load in new blank tabs by default. Deactivate it in the "Main" tab in Speed Dials settings window.

Not only is this one of the finest EXT.'s of it's kind, but the author actually cares about his work. Today there was for the first time a conflict with an update. I contacted Josep about the matter and was resolved within 30 minutes. Now I am sure this will not always be the case, but this author in my opinion went above what should ever be expected from a developer of EXT's.
The hours that these people put in for us at no cost is often take for granted.
I cannot give thanks for everyone... but you have my utmost respect for your efforts.
Josep, again thank you for your time today.

Speed dial has been working very good to me since I installed it last week. As I opened my firefox today, it has an update for speed dial but after updating it, any address I type in the address bar would not work. No matter how I hit enter button, the is no action.

Sorry about that... this was caused by a conflict with IE Tab, which I worked to solve as fast as I could. Things should be working fine in version 0.5.0.1

The newest Speed Dial is a little buggy, 'cause if I start the FF with a blank page, it will not work. If I in FF open a new window / tab, it will work again.

Well, it works fine for me... However, it might be a problem with another extension (maybe a session restoring extension?).

The new version is what I need to handle tabs (although, as with nearly all new software versions, it has a few problems).

I set up Firefox to start with only 3 tabs, one for Yahoo mail, one for SD and a blank one. I can click on the SD tab and then load the links I want loaded in tabs by clicking once on the center mouse button for each and ending with a final click on the left button. Slick! I stay on one screen and the tabs end up in the order I selected. And I don't have to sort through a bunch of tabs to find the one I want or to load them all and remove the ones I don't want. Also, I can close all tabs and easily reload a new selection.

I recently contacted Josep and found him extremely responsive. He gave my concerns great care and attention. He has my thanks and highest accolades.

I really like this extension. Just one problem I would like cleared up though.

I have a number of sites (especially at work) that require authentication before any pages will be displayed. Normally, Firefox will keep me authenticated when I start a new tab, but Speed Dial doesn't appear to pick up the authentication so no thumbnail is ever displayed - the site eventually times out in the thumbnail.

I'm not bothered about periodic updating, but can I have a way of creating an initial thumbnail by authenticating in Speed Dial. There's no need to save passwords...

Thanks for a great extension.

This quickly has become my favorite and most used extension. It just has one problem, sometimes when you right-click to refresh (or refresh all), it does not work...other times it works. Fix that and this will be a big 10 in my book! Thanks for the hard work!

Nice feature (the one thing I like about Opera brought to Firefox) but never got the Speed Dial page displays to update - kept showing same old, same old pages unless I refreshed manually. Needs auto refresh.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.1.1).

You can configure the automatic refresh per thumbnail (edit the dial and set the amount of seconds).

make it a firefox start-up option.

then we can have these start-up options: 1)homepage;
2)blank page; 3)speed dial page; 4)last sessions

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.1.1).

Yes, that would be the most integrated solution. However, you can make it work by setting your homepage to Speed Dial (and start up with the homepage), or set Speed Dial to "open in blank new windows" and set the window to start with a blank page.

When I started to use Speed Dial, I had several little issues. But apparently, to Josep del Rio, the developer, little issues do not exist: ALL issues are big issues to him, and he really goes out of his way to solve them immediately. Very responsive and helpful.

Speed Dial is really an essential extension to me now. Thank you, Josep, for this great add-on, and for things to come :)

I never had this problem... It's probably a conflict with another extension. Could you send me your installed extension list, so I can find the problem?

This is just something you cannot live without. Works well with the Google web accelerator, as the links are prefetched, so they load almost immediately when you click on them. A huge time saver.

Very nice add-on, thanks!

Have few comments:
(1) I'd welcome if the add-on used the user defined behaviour for CTRL+click-on-a-link for opening in background or foreground.

(2) For the people that use laptops without mice it would be great to have a mini-scrollers on the side of the prewiew.

(3) When I open a new tab (with speed dial), the tab is displayed and the adress-line gets blank and focused. This is great behavoiur. It would be nice to have the adress-line blank before the window renders so one doesn't need to wait.

Best regards, Ondra

clashes with CuteMenus Crystal SVG
when install all the cutemenu icons vanish (go back to blank)
one extension should not break another, especially when their functions are not related

I would have given the previous upgrade a 10. I loved it. I started having problems with the upgrade. Clicking any of the numbers on Speed Dial would only open the whole page and I was able to go through to my sites only by opening a Speed Dial page first. Thus it took 2 clicks instead of 1 to get where I wanted to go. I re-downloaded, but ended up going back a version. Happy now with the next to last version.

Josep del Rio;
Great extension, I use it all the time. The latest update V.0.5 doesn't allow me to use ENTER on my keyboard for a new URL.

First of all I love it for a very handy job it do for me. But still I gave 4 to *Speed Dial* as I fell that it is very "bad" in Thumbnail creation. it gives you 'px' as size option for Thumbnails, which in my case is horrible as I dont understand 'pixel' values.

Another thing is that It badly needs a CSS/layout controll, Just look at it -you will find it confusing instead of helping- I dont want to compare Opera here, you cant compare a Layout master with Programing miracle, but Yes a Speed Dial must have a centered, clear, easy-to-understand layout. just check out Opera's feature.

for me its a "Firefox Showcase", another add-on by the same author, sitting as a HomePage of my New Window/Tab
