Been using this for a few weeks and it has made life a lot easier as I have several email accounts in Thunderbird.
Also I had a small issue with version 6.4 but the developer was very quick to respond with a fix when I sent a Support Email to him - and now everything is working perfectly again :)

I don't know how I missed this one. I found it and played with it for quite a while to find what my best options would be. It took some time- but I was really impressed with what it could accomplish. This one offers some BIG improvements!

helps a lot when managing many accounts
- one request if possible / a column for the message list displaying just a colored square/dot (too many colors in the unified message list is more disturbing than helpful)

To make visual distinction between accounts, can't do without anymore. Works fine and offers many options for customization.
After playing with this add-on I missed a possibility to reset everything to default (reinstalling it won't help). This is a minor issue though.

Changing my review to five stars. Once I went back into settings and grasped the inner workings, everything is working great. Thank you for a wonderful way to personalize my email and make it easier on the eye!

This is a great addon for people with multiple email accounts. I'm using Thunderbird 8 right now and it isn't compatible.
Will there be a version that supports Thunderbird 8?
Account Colors 4.2 compatibility was updated to Thunderbird 8.* on 7 October 2011. If you downloaded Account Colors 4.2 before that date, then you should remove it from your Thunderbird and download it again and re-install.
However, if you have found something in Account Colors that does not work correctly with Thunderbird 8, then please e-mail the details to: dw-dev@gmx.com.

I really like this extension. It makes things much easier to find in a unified in box. I have many emails received from different addresses and this makes it easy to see which ones showed up from which addresses. Thanks!
I have a few questions or feedback, too (they don't really seem like bugs):
The number of color options is rather limited. And the fact that the highlight colors are limited to a small set of rather faded colors is disappointing. (Yeah, you need somewhat faded colors to make the text more readable, but they are so faded that there is almost no difference between most of them! The highlight color is very hard to see.)
Also, I have a problem with text that is non-black. When a message header is selected in the thread pane, if the text used in the coloring is non-black SOME of it gets altered to white text. (E.g. I have red text and highlighting; when I select the message some of the red text becomes WHITE text on the blue selected-message highlighting.) This white text is nearly invisible on that back ground. It only seems to happen, for me, on the FROM and RECIPIENT columns, not the SUBJECT column. I would like it if the text either stayed red or black. (As a side note, curiously some messages have black text for the FROM/RECIPIENT columns, while others sent to the same address have red text for those two columns. The subject column in both cases is the red text I have defined.)
Thanks for writing this extension!

This add-on is great, but there's a bug happening when I duplicate message, i.e. I copy a message to the same account. I currently do this in order to tag the message and send it to other people, through a shared IMAP account: in this case, the original message is colored although it shouldn't be. I'm not sure how to provide a screenshot which would be much clearer.

Not a review, but if this isn't updated to TBird>3, you can find a similar function (and more) in 'identity-chooser'.

I found two lines in this add-on that causes most of content of the status bar of Thunderbird 5 to vanish.
The lines
document.getElementById("folderTree").addEventListener("select",acThreadPane,false);
and
document.getElementById("tabmail").addEventListener("load",acMessagePane,true);
in ac-3panewindow.js seem to be responsible for this incompatibility. Removing these lines reduces the functionality of this add-on, but different accounts in the folder pane remain coloured and the status bar is completely visible.
I hope that there will be patched version soon. This add-on is very useful.

You can still make it work in Thunderbird 5 as previous comments have stated, but it causes a bug in the status bar at the bottom, where everything vashes, except number of messages unread & total - even with all other addons disabled. Have to disable it until there's an update as I need my status bar...

Very good for differentiating various accounts. Needs ability to select darker colors. Select color possibly have slider gadget to lighten/darken selected color.

Very good addon. Focus on which account you are using. (color in folder list makes it easier to identify accounts).
Have an issue with it as (on Thunderbird/Shredder 3.3a4 on windows) the status bar text disappears. Hovering a link on a email does not show the result in the status bar (also folder info from the Nostalgy addon does not show).
From the review of HekMek, (where he mentions no text on hovering buttons) this might not be just due to Shredder.
Good work nonetheless

Really good AddOn, but I detected a mistake:
As you can see in the three pictures, there is no color in my gmx.com account although it should be marked green. It works with all other accounts except that one. Could you fix that please? :)

+ The good part:
As for me, the add-on works and is helps making sure which account you use.
+ The bad part:
You only get to choose background colours from a palette of fade colours and for me it was difficult to find a few which were both distinguishable and not confusing (no, I'm not colour-blind but orange and red would look too alarming for me, leaves green-ish and blue-ish).
+ The really bad part:
The add-on makes Thunderbird display "deactivated" text in the background colour (i.e. invisible), this can be mitigated _partly_ by forcing the use of the set-up foreground colour. This means when you read an email, you will no longer see the sender, subject etc. in the thread pane. Also, button texts disappear when you hover with the mouse pointer. This took all the fun out of using the add-on for me.
Note: I am using Linux, the issue(s) may be plattform-specific-

It seems I can't color "Local folders" account - which I would like to use for coloring my own messages... so badly needed function.
