Recently purchased a new Toshiba Satellite S75D-7272 with Windows 8. Have not used Windows as primary OS since moving to Ubuntu and Windows 8 is worse. Finally have Ubuntu 13.04 working and my favorite search engine will not install, Dogpile. I have received different excuses but this is the latest: Sorry, you need a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) to install a search plugin. I think there is a Windows Mole among us. Just kidding.
Not recommending Dogpile right now.

When I try to install the Dogpile browser add-on, I get the following error message:

"Sorry, you need a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) to install a search plugin."

I'm using version 23.0.1 of Firefox.

I'm finally glad to find this search and get rid of Google. Google has become too "big brother" and has even gone as far as eliminating the Google video search. It now only searches YOUTUBE videos. Dogpile's video search works the way Google's did back in '07, with EVERY video site in the results. I've switched to Ubuntu to get off of Windoze. I'm switching to Dogpile to get off of Google.

I really enjoyed this in an earlier version of fox . It does not seem to be installed or added to ff17. If It can become available I would use it often. The other search engines are fine but having them combined I always got the best and the desired result. I give this two thumbs up.I will be using this fine app again.

Hello and thank you for the great feedback. I am confused, though, as I am reading that this add-on will not install on FF17. It should as there are no version restrictions. Dogpile is not a default search engine that comes bundled with FF install - you must add it yourself via this add-on page. Once again, if this is not the case, please let me know. Thanks - jtekUSA

I have used Dogpile for years and have had great results. The big 3 do not always get you to the appropriate site choices. With the wide spectrum of engines that Dogpile searches it is much more efficient. Still using Dogpile in 2016 plus duck duck go.

Great search engine. Saves me time and almost always finds the best match 1st, sometimes 2nd. But always.

Combines results from Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Offers intelligent suggestions for alternative searches.

I've been a Mozilla user since v1.0 (at the demise of Netscape). But, I was a Dogpile user before that. It's simply the best search engine on the net, bar none!

Dogpile is simply the best, and fastest search engine out there. Dogpile is to Google like Firefox is to Internet Explorer. Been using it for years and years and get results other engines miss.

I have used this search engine for years on IE. I'm switching browsers and definitely want this as my default search engine. It gets searches the other major search engines and sorts and returns them in order of relevance. No pop ups, but tells you if a return is sponsored there, Fast, intelligent, and relevant searches. Never had a problem with it.
