Very good add-on. I was using Zindus before, but started using especially after the feature which get my gmail photos to thunderbird which is very important for me. The version posted here is old instead use the beta version 0.3.0b3 from this link. http://pirules.org/forum/index.php/topic,89.msg679.html#msg679

Like always just make a backup of your google contacts and try it. I have never had any problems on my 3 pcs.
5 stars for a great add-on.

Buggy. Do not use v. 0.2.17, except for manual synchronization

this add-on DOES NOT synchronize contacts automatically as it seems to be designed for, because the login and password used for Gmail accounts gets lost, showin a pop-up all the time, inviting to re-login every 2 minutes.

If this MAIN bug is solved one day, maybe this add-on will be usable adn will work as any other add-on connected to Gmail.

Works great. But after syncing my 2 different gmail accounts, I want to copy contacts around from my 1st gmail account to my 2nd gmail account. If I drag drop, the address book moves the contact instead of copying it. I can't seem to find how to copy contacts from one addressbook to another in thunderbird. If someone has a solution, please reply to me.

Works great in every way except that it doesn't save password. It is very annoying to have to type in the password every time. Please add this as an option.

I sync my Blackberry with google thanks to google sync. And this app right here works great in syncing my address book on thunderbird installations on both my netbook (ubuntu) and laptop (windows 7) with google. They are all working great together. The app is straightforward, does what it says and gives you options to control which direction it syncs. Love it!

Love this app. Please note, if you upgrade to t-bird 3.1 (or 3.2?) T-Bird won't recognize this as an "update" to an existing gcontactsync add-on. It says "no update found". I had to come here and manually update here.

The BEST google contacts sync extension I have ever met.
I have tried to sync ~3000 contacts among 5 computers. This extension can do it really fast without flaws!
Thanks for your great work, keep it up! :)

I like this add-on very much!
Would be great though if the tab gContactSync had a button next to each additional address (home, work and other) to allow adding the address details from the Thunderbird's own address fields with just a single click.
Without such a feature I've to add the address details manually each time I insert a new contact or when changing the contact's address.

I tried any addons to sync my TB contacts with google.
The gContactSync is the best working and easy to use of all.

This was the easiest app/add on I've come across yet and it's very simple to set up. And effective. GREAT job so far - thanks!

This is the best method I have found for synchronizing Google Contacts with Thunderbird. It is practical, versatile, and reliable. As a side-benefit, it gives me offline access to my contacts from my laptop.

The author is responsive and very helpful.

Give it a try, then send a donation once you're sold. I did.

Great plug-in, works flawlessly for me. Especially useful if you have an Android phone which uses Gmail contacts for everything, but you'd rather use Thunderbird for mail on your computer.

Tried Zindus and Google Contacts. Both refused to pull down addresses properly from gmail. gContactSync was able to do this properly. Have only used for about 30 minutes, but MUCH happier than the other two choices.
