To Linux users: It's possible to add a MAFF MIME type as "Mozilla archive format (application/x-mozillarchive)" with an application called AssoGiate and then associate Firefox with it. In this way, MAFF is an excellent choice for saving web pages in Gnome.

I installed this add-on in Firefox 3.6 and it worked very well. But after I uninstalled it, Firefox couldn't save web pages as before: it didn't create a folder beside the HTML file anymore! Fortunately, I had a backup of the Mozilla folder.
BTW, I'm in Linux (Debian Squeeze) and I'd also installed UnMHT in Firefox.
On Windows, without MAF installed, there is an option in the "Save As" dialog that allows you to choose whether you want to save a complete web page or only the HTML. The behavior you observed might be related to this choice; it is possible that on Linux this option is hidden by default, and you can see it only if you expand the "Save As" dialog to display all the options. Probably, by doing this, you could have reverted to the "Web page, complete" behavior without the need to restore your entire profile.
If you have other questions, or if this is not the problem and you want to help out in finding its source, you're welcome on the MAF mailing list, reachable through the extension's support page.

Теперь использую и его, пока не выбрал какое оставить и по этому использую два расширения unMHT и Mozilla Archive Format
Это одни из самых полезных расширений.
Входят в мою сборку https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/collection/ffextended

This should be integrated by default in Mozilla. Being able to save complete pages in one file, that's great. No speed penalty, works fine.

This extension conflicts with other extensions that replace Firefox's saving function, and results in File->save-page-as not working at all. See for example : asf. mangaheart. org / index.php?menu=5&f=2&t=9&p=5#post49

hi! i have hungarian firefox (3.6rc1) and if I install this addon, save dialog doesn't show up at all! so basically for me this only disables saving... too bad!
would be a wonderful addon.... could this be related to localization? (i'm on hungarian windows xp)
The problem you reported does not occur on my installation of Firefox. I don't think this is a localization-related problem because MAF is not localized in Hungarian, even though the problem could be related to something that's different in a Hungarian operating system. It would be helpful if you could provide additional information, such as reports from the Error Console, in the MAF mailing list.

i cant double click to open maff file, need extra "enter" press.and 0.12 is ok.
Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (0.17.2).Thanks for the report, I'll investigate it when I find some time, even though I don't usually develop on pre-beta versions of Firefox, since newly introduced features are subject to abrupt changes.

The fact that MAFF is a kind of ZIP provides hidden additional features. For instance, it is possible to make MAFF searchable by content. I succeeded in making MAFF searchable by content at my Vista 64bit. Firstly, I set MAFF searchable by context under indexing settings. Then I installed a ZIP IFilter. Using regedit.exe, I changed registry value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.maff\PersistentHandler\OriginalPersistentHandler to the same value as in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.zip\PersistentHandler\OriginalPersistentHandler
Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (0.17.2).Thank you for sharing the procedure you followed in configuring MAFF content search on Windows, this is very helpful. A newer version of MAF might configure this feature automatically along with the file associations. If you would like to share additional details, you're welcome on the MAF mailing list.

Works great. Provides a smaller file size than UnMHT which isn't a great big deal but still a positive. The "snapshot" option is fantastic with Aardvark. Clean it up and save it just as it is. I can easily see this coming along and ending up with as many options as UnMHT. Even still, it works perfectly and gets 5 stars for what it is.

This is EXACTLY what I have been looking / waiting / hoping for, and found it only by coincidence. It's a shame that Mozilla, and the Firefox team do not promote this extension. It's a must have IMO. Great work, and THANKS!

Very good idea. Any plans of adding it to the original Firefox (let's say, the 3.6 beta)?
Esta valoración es de una versión anterior del complemento (0.17.2).At present, there are no plans to add the MAF extension as it is to the core. It has been suggested, however, that support could be added for the two web archive formats, MHTML (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40873) and MAFF (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=381413). This effort is not likely to start any time soon, as it does not involve a simple inclusion of the extension, but a far more intensive work.

A Must Have
I think this should be default built in Firefox 3.6+
Excellent.

You need to get the word out about this availability in Firefox. This is the first I have seen of it and I have been using FF for years now. I did a big search for ways to save as... too. So I finally find out from Umht???
Also the Mozdev version says it is incompatible with 3.5.4??? But I am using it anyway.
Great addon though. Thank you.

Hello nottylilboy,
needn't to disable IE Tab, disable the filter /^file:\/\/\/.*\.(mht|mhtml)$/ in IE Tab. See the Documentation. I use MAF and IE Tab parallel since MAF 0.6.3.
