Exactly what I needed to export/import my emails in a new/clean profile, I'm still wondering WHY there isn't a default option for that in TB.

I stumbled upon ImportExport Tools sometime last year (2010) and have found it to be very useful. I especially like the ability to save email messages in different formats. The add-on has many other useful features as well.

Works like described, great, no beta for me. (2.6.2/TB5.0)
Only things missing is export folder structures to eml...

Ich kenne dieses sehr nützliche AddOn bereits seit vielen Jahren und Firefox-Versionen. Daher habe ich auch die experimentelle Version installiert und bin sie gerade am Einsetzen, um die Mails von meinem veralteten Profil zu exportieren und auf mein neues zu importieren.
Sehr empfehlenswert und zuverlässig - dadurch konnte ich meine ganzen Mails von Jahren retten.
Bislang sind unter TB 5 weder beim Export ganzer Postfächer noch beim Import einzelner Ordner mit Unterverzeichnissen Fehler aufgetreten.

For an 'experimental' addon, it's been doing just what I want with no fuss or problems. I backup my entire profile at least once per day, depending on the volume of email I receive. I just manually delete the ones older than two days, but a setting for that would be handy.

howdy y'all,

a wonderfully useful addon. i use the import and export functions once or twice each month. the profile backup is pretty handy, too. the only gotcha is the lack of a profile restore - you must do that by hand.

Worked very well for me on all basic tasks. Nevertheless, I've had to import a very large mail structure (lots of folders and mails), and the ImportTool kept showing me "Do you want to import...... [folder_path\folder]?". It had like 300 folders so it's been looooooong !! I'd suggest adding a "Yes to all" or "Import all" feature !

If I've understood well your situation, go at Tools --> ImportExportTools --> Options and uncheck the preference "Ask confirm before importing mbox files from a directory".

Great addon! I have been using this for over a year now. This does what I believe should be built-in to TB, but is not. This is one of the most valuable extensions out there to date. I was really looking forward to using the SMS import feature but it did not work for me with SMS Backup & Restore 3.9.5. The scheduled backup feature is also nice to have.

An excellent addon. If you aware of backup your mail archive or move in out from Thunderbird, this is your extension.
