I have an HTML file to add as a signature and the tool just shows "--". So it doesn't work with files :(

So far I love this addon. It does exactly what I need.
For anyone wanting to add hyperlinks to their signature do the following...
1. Open any HTML editor
2. Create your signature
3. For things like your email address, linkedin address, twitter, etc... highlight each and find the "insert link" option on your HTML editor. Insert the appropriate link for each address.
4. Now find the option on your editor to view the HTML source code for the signature.
5. Copy/paste that as your signature for Thunderbird.

It only add's --...
Have it have a list of signatures to choose from.

It works for me. Unfortunately it still inserts the 2 dashes even though it is disabled in the config.

This the way how I made it work:
1. go to the account settings
2. edit the signature text and put the HTML line break tag
at the end of each line
3. check the "Use HTML" box
4. check the "attach a signature from a file instead" box
The above setting is odd but it works. I bet that you will enjoy it like I do.

Would be a very useful extension to TB, but unfortunatelly, nothing is inserted, when the signature setting uses a signature from a file.

The add on works great. Just there no instructions on how to create the signature. Would have been nice as writing code/html/etc is out of my league.

Great Job. Many thanks. Just what we need. Should be part of Thunderbird client.

Simple, useful and nice add-on. But I have a problem with HTML mails using plain text signature.
I have added a few lines of code to your add-on to prevent that problem, and I will give you those lines with pleasure. Are you interested?
Yes I am interested, please :-)

Macht genau das, was es soll. DANKE! :D

The add-on works only with signatures defined in the signature field of your account, which is too bad.
I managed to override the problem by copying the content of my file-sig in the thunderbird-integrated signature field, but that's not a pretty solution IMHO.
Please, add file-sig support, that'd be great.
You can't use a file-signature! If you add your signature into the signature-field it will work...

It does everything I need it to do. I like the fact that I can add the signature where my cursor is positioned. It would be really nice to be able to select different signatures, too.

Nice add on! It is useful if you use Thunderbird.

In general a great idea, since this feature is not available by default in Thunderbird - wonder why! However, it doesn't seem to work as expected in the following situations.
a) When I reply to an email the plug-in does not add the signature, even though I have the settings configured per instructions.
b) If you manage multiple accounts, and let's say you are in account A, click compose new email, realize you want to send from account B, change it in the compose window; the add signature no longer inserts the signature.
I will say that I searched high-and-low for a way to get rid of the "--" that is inserted by default by Thunderbird. I found a solution and implemented it and I am wondering if that has something to do with my issues. Any thoughts/ideas are welcome.
If you use more than one account please use signature switch instead!!!
Please do not remove the "-- \n" at the beginning of the signature, it is truly usefull! :-)

That's it!!! I tried to use the html code you suggested <br> and after ticking the html format box at the top of the signature box, it works just fine now. Thank you for your add on and for your time and good advice. Unlike soem of the reviewers, I think it's a great feature to be able to decide when you want your signature to be inserted or not. Cheers,
R.
Perfect! Thank you for using add-signature :-)
I think this feature should be a default of thunderbird.
