I think many other add-ons are the same.
Add-ons published on addons.thunderbird.net (ATN) have passed human review.
In addition, the source code of this add-on is open, and anyone can check it.

QUESTION: This may be common practice, but why is it necessary in this case to access any and every file on a user's computer??

This add-on also uses WebExtension Experiments and will be notified of Case 2 full access requests.

This add-on does not do or need full access. But it uses a conventional mechanism that allows full access. And such add-ons always generate such warnings.

From version 91 you can change the order in TB, Tools / Account configuration and manually move the main folder

This add-on is, as the name suggests, for reordering folders. You can also reorder accounts, though.

Works as advertised, thank you! However, the permissions asked are frightening (full access to Thunderbird and to the computer). As Comunica2 mentioned, one can disable the plugin when not used as a workaround.

It's very useful if you have too many email addresses/folders or if you have several devices and want them to be as similar as possible. It's also helpful if you are just picky like me.

Just what I needed, but full permission is asked. Temporary work-around is to deactivate the add-on after reordering.

To get the Favorite Folders in the Folders sidebar to change order, you have to switch to All Folders view and then back to Favorite Folders. I nearly uninstalled this addon thinking it was not working before I figured out this little trick.

Revision: It appears that this addon will not allow reordering of folders in Favorite Folders Compact View, which is my preferred way to work.

After a bit ... about 2 hours ... I must be really mentally slow ... I learned how to use "Tools>Add on and Themes" ... read a bunch more ... went to "Extensions" ... read and searched for a "hamburger" (Huh?) found it ... and in 3 minutes all is better ... Now If I could just Thunderbird to recognized my passwords .. but, that is for the next 2 hour session ... tomorrow ... LOL
